Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
I thought I was finished with template searching, working with Brighton Pets and trying to tweak the colors. Then I saw this Sheffield Blue template.
Of course I'm going to download and test it out. Somehow it just looks so impressive, and virtually useable (for me, color-wise) out-of-the-box.
This template looks like a leap forward, raising the bar. Good job!

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne!
My wife likes Sheffield Blue even more than the Brighton Pets I've been working on, so may go with it on main site.
Right now I have it on a secondary/test site and see a bug:
On the top level category, the page shows the category page name:
http://www.promdressesforless.us/ready-to-ship-c-1.html
But on the subcategories, the subcategory name disappears:
http://www.promdressesforless.us/rea...p-2-c-1_2.html
Your Sheffield Blue demo also has the same issue.
(I have Yorkshire Clean loaded on this site and I just noticed that it also has the same issue. I also have Hampshire Cammie and it does not have this issue.)
Other than that, installation has been very smooth and after setting column widths (180/185) it looks very nice!
I did note that on older/lower resolutions that the side social box cannot be seen, but personally would not consider that an issue right now.
Great job on this one. All Business I think is the classic first generation template and Abbington Mega a second generation of templates. Perhaps this one is the begining of a third generation?

Great catch! You can change the line in the stylesheet.css file from :
Code:
#productListHeading {margin-bottom:15px;color:#fff;font-weight:normal;padding-bottom:10px;}
to:
Code:
#productListHeading {margin-bottom:15px;color:#444;font-weight:normal;padding-bottom:10px;}
I'll include this fix in a future template package update ;-)
I have also released a new and improved updated version of the Social Networking Sidebar module as a stand alone module that you can drop in to use with any other template.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne trying this out for a friend ( he looked my site I have your Abbington template and loved the style ) anyway the add to cart box width increases on the product pages in relation to the the description length i.e. the more characters in the title the wider the box is, any way to make the add to cart box width fixed. I'm using xampp to test it so can't post an example.
cheers Peter

If you want a fixed width on the add to cart box you can add your width to this in the stylesheet.css file:
Code:
#cart{border:1px solid #e1e1e9;padding:20px;background:#f5f5f7;-moz-border-radius: 4px; -webkit-border-radius: 4px; border-radius: 4px;}

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
I am trying to add a shadow around the main wrapper. I can get it around the header and content, but am having trouble getting it attached to the footer. Is there a special ID associated with the footer div that I would need to work with? Specifically, I am talking about the white box below the bottom nav bar.
Thanks. Awesome template!

If you post a link to your site I can take a look.

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Great template - Thanks!!
I'm just going through initial setup and it seems that the main content area is off-center a bit. This is causing left-hand text to ride over the main content. You can take a look at beadedlily.com/store/
Any ideas what I've done?
Thanks again

It looks like you have not followed the admin settings in the readme.html file.

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne
I was getting an error on my cart in the head section saying
Quote:
count_contents();?> item(s) - format($_SESSION['cart']->show_total());?> |
Checkout
I tracked the bug to the includes\templates\sheffield_blue\common\tpl_header.php
at line 95 it has the following
PHP Code:
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_SHOPPING_CART, '', 'NONSSL'); ?>"><img src="<?php echo $template->get_template_dir('',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'images').'/'.HEADER_ICON_CART ?>" alt="cart icon" class="cart-icon" /><? echo $_SESSION['cart']->count_contents();?> item(s) - <? echo $currencies->format($_SESSION['cart']->show_total());?></a> | </li>
which uses short tags on the cart and currencies echo statements changing them to full tags like below fixes the issue for me.
PHP Code:
<li><a href="<?php echo zen_href_link(FILENAME_SHOPPING_CART, '', 'NONSSL'); ?>"><img src="<?php echo $template->get_template_dir('',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'images').'/'.HEADER_ICON_CART ?>" alt="cart icon" class="cart-icon" /><?php echo $_SESSION['cart']->count_contents();?> item(s) - <?php echo $currencies->format($_SESSION['cart']->show_total());?></a> | </li>

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hello again
if you go to
includes/languages/english/sheffield_blue/header.php
and set
to
Code:
define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', '');
The layout breaks
The coding issue is here
includes\templates\sheffield_blue\common\tpl_header.php
PHP Code:
<div id="taglineWrapper">
<?php
if (HEADER_SALES_TEXT != '') {
?>
<div id="tagline"><?php echo HEADER_SALES_TEXT;?></div></div>
<?php
}
?>
The second </div> in that statement is the one that should close the taglineWrapper div, but if you have no tagline the ending </div> won't be actioned and your layout breaks
so you need to change it to
PHP Code:
<?php
if (HEADER_SALES_TEXT != '') {
?> <div id="taglineWrapper">
<div id="tagline"><?php echo HEADER_SALES_TEXT;?></div></div>
<?php
}
?>
But that still doesn't fix the layout issue because this
PHP Code:
<!--bof-branding display-->
<div id="logoWrapper">
<div id="logo"><?php echo '<a href="' . HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . '">' . zen_image($template->get_template_dir(HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE, DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'images'). '/' . HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE, HEADER_ALT_TEXT) . '</a>'; ?>
<?php if (HEADER_SALES_TEXT != '' || (SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SET2 != '' && $banner = zen_banner_exists('dynamic', SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SET2))) { ?>
<div id="taglineWrapper">
<?php
if (HEADER_SALES_TEXT != '') {
?>
<div id="tagline"><?php echo HEADER_SALES_TEXT;?></div></div>
<?php
}
?>
<?php
if (SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SET2 != '' && $banner = zen_banner_exists('dynamic', SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SET2)) {
if ($banner->RecordCount() > 0) {
?>
<div id="bannerTwo" class="banners"><?php echo zen_display_banner('static', $banner);?></div>
<?php
}
}
?>
</div> <!-- This div here -->
<?php } // no HEADER_SALES_TEXT or SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SET2 ?>
<div id="header-right">
The closing </div> for the logo div is within this statement scope
PHP Code:
<?php if (HEADER_SALES_TEXT != '' || (SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SET2 != '' && $banner = zen_banner_exists('dynamic', SHOW_BANNERS_GROUP_SET2))) { ?>
moving it out like below fixes the problem for me

If you don't want to use the tagline, the best and simplest way is to just add a display:none; in the stylesheet to #tagline.
The template is coded to be used with all of the elements shown in the demo. If you look closely at the code you will see that all div's and /divs do match up. If you want to disable/turn off various elements in the template, the best way to do it is to use css. It prevents having to do a lot of re-coding.
Thanks,
Anne

Add this to the bottom of your stylesheet.css file:
Code:
.sidebar{display:none;}

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne!
Using another of your wonderful templates!
Quick question:
In the Read-me for this template, regarding the Social Sidebar you state:
"In your favorite plain text editor open includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet_social_header.css"
At the bottom of the file add display:none; to the class for each icon you don't want to display. So, for example if you don't want to display the facebook icon you would add:
Code:
.facebook{display:none;}
Then you display the class as:
I want to remove YouTube and the rest below that.
So I tried:
Code:
.youtube{display:none;}
and
Code:
.youtube-sh{display:none;}
and neither worked.
You refer above to the "stylesheet_social_header.css", but this template uses "stylesheet_social_sidebar.css"
So I assumes the "sh" was incorrectly referring to style header, so I replaced the "sh" with "ss" for social sidebar like this:
Code:
.youtube-ss{display:none;}
That didn't work either :(
Can you tell me the correct coding to use to remove unneeded social icons?
Thanks a million!
Kathleen

Sorry about that! It looks like I forgot to add the classes to the code. You can either add the classes to the code in includes/templates/sheffield_blue/common/tpl_main_page.php or just remove the code for the icons that you don't want to use. I'll add this to the list of things for a future update.
Thanks,
Anne

Thank you, that worked perfectly! I just removed the code for the unneeded social links.
(I removed code for 4 of them, so I changed the length to 100px, and now it is perfect!)
Thanks a billion,

Hi Ann how do you get rid of the slide show altogether. I don't want to use one right now. Thanks in advance.

You can modify the code in the includes/templates/sheffield_blue/css/index_home.css file to this:
#navBreadCrumb{display:none;}
.centerBoxHeading{background:none;border-bottom:1px solid #888887;width:90%;margin:0 auto;font-size:21px;font-weight:400;padding-bottom:11px;color:#20231d;text-shadow:none;margin-top:0px;}
.centerBoxWrapper{display:none;}
#contentMainWrapper{position:relative;top:-65px;}
#content-container{margin-top:0px;}
#home-banner{margin-left:-14px;margin-bottom:100px;display:none;}
#footer{margin-top:-112px;}
You should also do a cross browser check to see if any adjustments need to be made.
Thanks,
Anne

I have another question Ann. I must did something wrong because now my menu doesn't come down far enough or something is wrong. I guess what I'm trying to say is why is the top of my page split or doesn't meet together after I uninstalled the slide show.
Here the link to my site.

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
I figured it out Ann. I took out the </div> tage at the bootom of the /includes/templates/sheffield_blue/common/tpl_main_page for some reason. I added it back and all is well.
But I would like to know how I can make my logo a little taller. I also have the module Instant Search (like Googles) installed but it doesn't work with this template for some reason. Works with abbington_mega_1.1. Don't know

I am happy that you figured it out ;-)
The instant search actually is working on your site. If you start to type out something you will notice a large scroll bar at the bottom of the page. If you scroll all the way to the right you will see the instant search working. I would recommend editing the instant search css to make it show under the search box and not all the way to the right ;-)
Thanks,
Anne

Thank you Ann I did see it when you pointed it out to me. I have now corrected it in the .css file.
This will be my last question for sure, Could you point in in the right direction on how to stretch the space where the logo go's?

Hi Ann and thanks for your time. What I mean is instead of making my logo any smaller what can I do to increase the background height behind my logo so I can make my logo a little taller.. I hope I'm making some sense to you.

You can add a logo of any size. If it is different than the one in the demo you might have to make some adjustments to other elements in the header ;-)
Thanks,
Anne

Hi Ann it's me again I'm not trying to be a pain to you :) but I can not for the sake of my insanity seem to be able to find how to stretch the background height behind my logo so all my logo will show. :no:
Thank Again for your awesome support.

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
I'm not sure which of your css files has these selectors, but you want to change the CSS top property value for:
#mega_wrapper from top: -90px; to top: -50px;
#content-container from top: -25px to top: 5px;
While you're at it, you might want to add the 's' back to the word Discount in your logo!

If you turn off your css minify I can take a look and let you know what rule to add to your stylesheet.

I tried what you said and it kind of works but it blocks out some of my text on the main page.
Thanks for your advice. I did add the (s) back to Discounts my bad.....lol

Just add height:200px; to your #logo in stylesheet.css. You will need to adjust the position of the header search box after you add this.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
I installed Sheffield_Blue on top of ZC 1.3.9h. (The most beautiful Zen Cart Template I've seen) I tried modifying the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/headermenu.php file in order to change the "About Us" text. The first draft must have had too much text. I received a 500 Internal Error from the server. I shortened the text then no longer received this error but the same old "Pellentesque rutrum ullamcorper faucibus. Nam porttitor iaculis enim, mattis tristique velit tristique bibendum... text continues to show even though that text is no longer in the uploaded file. ZC's Developer's Tool Kit indicates that the new text is on the server in the file I uploaded. I deleted my browser cache but the old text shows up even on browsers and computers that have never visited the page before!
How do I force the update to take effect and flush the contents of the old file from wherever it's being delivered/cached to site visitors? Just a note to let viewers know that I'm having the identical problem with the text in the new user login page which was also modified. The old content of the original file is still being downloaded and viewed though it was changed three days ago. These kinds of pesky problems take up hours trying to solve them.

I would recommend re-uploading the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/headermenu.php from the template package. Be sure to edit the file with a plain text editor and to escape an apostrophe's or quotes you use in the text. Also, be sure to keep the single quotes in the file in tact when editing the file.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Having issues with the social side bar. After reading the readme several times I went to make the changes and noticed the file you refer to isn't even in the template upload of files to the server:
From your read-me file:
includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/social_sidebar_defines.php (this page isn't listed it in my download which came from your site)
However includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/social_defines.php is and the same files are there

define('GOOGLE', 'https://plus.google.com/113609090217058276980/posts');

I changed each of the above and no changes were made on my site (it is a test site, can't post link)
Can someone offer me some help please?

You need to make changes in includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/social_defines.php
If you are correctly making changes, saving your changes, and uploading the changed file to the correct place on your server, the changes will work.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne,
Love this template and am using it live!
(Will send you a link as soon as we have a proper logo worked out.
Our Facebook fans are voting on it this week, and the approved one will be active the 2nd week of January).
Quick question:
I will be changing the color scheme monthly to reflect the current season/holiday using the css style sheet.
But for the buttons, background images etc.. I am using Photoshop.
Do you happen to have plain psd files I can use for those images?
Using a color overlay gives me "off" colors using the original blue images that were included.
Thanks again for all you do for us Zen-Cart folks,
Kathleen

Yep that caught me out to, thats why using zencarts in built Developers Tool Kit is a good idea.
@Anne
Actually my post from last night has dissappeared so here goes again
there is a minor bug in this template in the "whats new" sidebox
the product name is coloured white, as is the background, so you cannot see it, you can see this on your demo site
http://www.picaflor-azul.com/free-de...sheffield_blue
if you highlight under the picture but above the price of the product in the Whats new Sidebox the product name shows up
-

This is not a bug in the template but related to some modification you have made. You have a contact us link in place of the add to cart form. I would start by re-upoading the includes/templates/sheffield_blue/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php file from the template package to your server.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi,
Downloaded Sheffield Blue a couple of days ago and I am very impressed - so far! Have one small question - I have around 20 Main categories but as many as 26 (the letters of the alphabet) as subcategories to those main categories. The dotted line separators apply to both main and sub categories and that makes it hard to differentiate. Is there a way to make the dotted lines stronger on the categories so that each main category stands out. If you need to see what I mean, please private message me and I will send the site URL. - Thanks in advance. Aaron

You can move things around in the includes/templates/sheffield_blue/common/tpl_header.php file and then adjust positioning in the stylesheet.css file.

Anyone else noticing a bug in the white background of the header where it is not filling the correct area and the page background is showing through.

2) there is a 99% chance this is just me but, when I checked my cpanel error log

This is the only add-on I have used that uses a browser select javascript, so I thought I'd ask here

its being called in the stylesheet IE7 Specific
.ie7 #nav-supp-wrapper{background:url(../images/menu-bk.jpg) no-repeat;}
I looked and the file isn't there in the downloaded plugin files the png version is though, but from memory older IE choked on PNGs which is why you would have switched in a jpg I guess

You need at least ie8 for .png support

Use the admin--tools--developers toolkit to find which lines of which files you need to edit. See the FAQ's section for a tutorial about how to use the developers toolkit.

Truth be told I no longer cross browser check extensively for ie 7 in the free templates. According to the W3C, ie7 is down to 1.1% of the browser share:
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp
If you want the template to be absolutely perfect in ie7 you will probably find some things that need adjusting.
The .ie7 rule you have found does have a type and should be a .png. If you like you can create the .jpg version and use it instead.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi Anne
Many thanks for contacting us the other day, we are really pleased with the template layout!
I’ve been attempting to update the Social Bar on the template for our site www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net/JWMC_ShopSite following the instructions on your help pages. It's been approx 3 years since I used ZenCart and I am a bit rusty!
The instructions tell me to change includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/social_sidebar_defines.php however I can only see a ‘social_defines.php’ and not ‘social_sidebar_defines.php’
I’ve followed the instructions and changed things to:-
/*bof social urls*/
define('FACEBOOK','https://en-gb.facebook.com/JohnWoodsMotorcare');
define('TWITTER', 'http://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net');
define('YOUTUBE', 'http://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net');
define('PINTEREST', 'http://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net');
define('GOOGLE', 'https://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net');
define('BLOG', 'http://www.johnwoodsmotorcare.net');
As we haven’t got Twitter etc set up yet I wanted to set the buttons to our main site for now.
However all the buttons are still redirecting to picaflor including the Facebook one still!
Are you able to offer any assistance?

There is a typo in the readme and this has been noted for a future template update.
I have also noted this bug for a future update. There are 2 files using the same constants so you also need to make your changes to the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/sheffield_blue/footer_menu_defines.php
Thanks,
Anne

If you read the readme.html file you will find instructions for enabling the ezpages in the header menu.

Yes, I found, but its not working with my actual settings or configuration or mods, for test I made a clean install of Zencart 1.5.0 in may local host and its working now....
I want to knwo if possible how to remove Quick Links - Shop - Brands and Info.
I already checked the readme where say "Hide any of the Drop Downs" on reference to look into stylesheet_mega_menu.css for example .contactus-li and put {display:none;}, the first its that .contactus-li does not exist on that file, i try looking for quicklinks-li , .customerservice-li , .information-li with not luck..
Thanks again.

The template does not use contactus-li, but you can use quicklinks-li, categories-li, and manufacturers-li to hide the drop downs in the stylesheet.
Thanks,

If you read the readme.html file you will see that you need to add these styles to the stylesheet_mega_menu.css file.
Thanks,

It sounds like you are not uploading the template files to the correct place on your server.
Thanks,

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
First off want to say thank you for making this template available.
I have encountered an issue with the "contact us" drop down menu not send emails IF I have defined more than one email address in the admin settings. I can send emails from the actual contact page, however not from the drop down form. After hitting the submit button one is redirected to the email success page. There is no record of the email being sent in the DB or the many other places I have looked. I receive the following error in my debug log:
ERROR: Failed sending email to: "" <> with subject: "Website Inquiry from DeviceFixin" (failed validation)
I found an old thread that mentioned this in another Template and the issues mentioned in the tread are not present.
The drop form works if there are no or only one email address assigned in the admin contact us. I have tried all kinds of various settings to no avail.
PLEASE HELP I am at a loss. The site is https://store.devicefixin.com
My Settings are:
PHP: 5.3.15
E-Mail Transport Method smtpauth
E-Mail Linefeeds LF
Send E-Mails true
Email Archiving Active? true
E-Mail Friendly-Errors true
Email Address (Displayed to Contact you) [email protected]
Email Address (sent FROM) [email protected]
Emails must send from known domain? Yes
Set "Contact Us" Email Dropdown List Information <[email protected]>, Marketing <[email protected]>,
Purchasing <[email protected]>, Repairs <[email protected]>,
Sales <[email protected]>, Webmaster <[email protected]>
SMTP Email Account Mailbox [email protected]
SMTP Email Account Password *************
SMTP Email Mail Host gator341.hostgator.com
SMTP Email Mail Server Port 465
My current work around was to just disable that drop down menu. Would really like to get it working to keep the continuity.
Thanks

Open sheffield_blue\includes\templates\sheffield_blue\css\stylesheet.css and look for this line.
#navMainSearch {float:right;position:relative;top:-25px;right:10px;z-index:15000;}

#navMain ul li {display: inline;position:relative;top:-68px;}
to this:
Code:
#navMainWrapper {margin: 0em;background:transparent;font-weight: normal;color: #230f0f;height: 1%;width: 100%;position:relative;right:-90px;}
#navMain ul {margin: 0;padding: 0.5em 0em;list-style-type: none;text-align: right;line-height: 1.5em;float:right;-moz-border-radius: 5px;-webkit-border-radius: 5px;border-radius: 5px;}
#navMain ul li {display: inline;}
and this:

And this:

#navMainSearch {float:right;position:relative;top:-113px;right:-75px;z-index:15000;}
to this:

Re: Sheffield Blue Template Support Thread
Hi everyone.
I am really confused right now.
I have installed SQL patch to show my product in colum layout. I also changed "Product Listing - Layout Style" to colums but nothing happened:no:
When i click "New Product...", my products are showed in row, just like before the SQL patch's installed.
Sorry for my bad English, i am VietNamese :(

The column layout grid module is only for the product listing page. If you want a grid for your new products, all products, etc. you need to install the snaf module.

It is no problem to add any languages to the template. The procedure is the same as adding any language to any template. Do a search of the FAQ's section of this site for tutorials on installing new languages.
Thanks,
Anne
