This template ha a very minimal design and could look good in a multitude of different colors by just changing the background and font colors in the stylesheet. The layout is very clean with a single column on the home page and 2 column for the inner pages.

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Do you lose the ability to change currency on mobile devices or have I just not found the button yet? This is a very minor issue.
Though everything looks good but I'm having trouble with the drop navigation menu functionality on my touchscreen tablet. Works nice with a mouse but not with my finger. IE 10.0.9 & Windows8 IEapp. Windows8RT. I will check with an HP-EnvyX2 Win8 tablet later today. Hopefully this is a user issue on my part because I feel like I'm raining on a parade by mentioning it. I'm using your functional demo versions on your website as my testing models. I don't have the ability to test other browsers on the tablet.
The same is true on other templates but there is a left sidebox to use as an alternative.

The currencies functionality is still there. I just removed the box in the header for cleanliness sake.
What sort of trouble do you have with the menu? Is it the pure css mega menu or the mobile version menu?
The categories or any other sidebox can be turned on at this size. You would have to remove the display:none; I added to the responsive.css stylesheet for the left hand column on the tablet.
And, please keep the feedback coming ;) Improvements can not be made without it.
Thanks,
Anne

Currency. Gotcha. I was just using your demo before installing/customizing.
It is the PureCSS megamenu. Unless it is me, there is no 'hover' functionality with a finger on a touchscreen. It's not specific to this template. On my tablet, your website is also difficult to navigate without a keyboard or mouse attached. Maybe it's my fingers :mellow: since I'm new to tablet and touchscreen functionality.

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
I didn't think to do any googling for similar issues. Sounds like it may just be a glitch/bug/undocumented 'feature' of Win 8 and IE10 that is remedied in Win8.1
I tried a 'long press' but that does not have the desired effect.
Don't lose any sleep over it.

Ah, I understand. Thank you for the feedback. I might have to change the menu on that size device to the mobile drop down.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Hi! You have so many great templates, but I think this one may be the one I like best now. Really like a more minimalist look. Great work!
Hope to use this one soon.

Hi Anne
I'm doing an 'SPH' and playing around with templates :wink:
Could you advise me how to remove NEW PRODUCTS from the handheld dropdown menu please? I won't be adding new products to my store and don't need/want the functionality.
Many thanks

Me again Anne, sorry...
I have managed to somehow stop my defines main page text appearing while on a mobile. It is fine on my kindle in landscape (yet won't display in portrait), desktop is also fine.
What could I have altered? Any thoughts please?

Can you restore the backup? It is time consuming, but best to check the various screen sizes between each change that you make just in case you cause a problem in one of the sizes that you can't see in the desktop view.
Thanks,
Anne

Was hoping to backtrack to find where I went wrong. Would you expect it to be CSS related or in a php file?

I would think it is probably css related, but then again, I don't have a list of the files that you edited.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Hi, okay, I installed Carlisle Fresh but with a few hiccups. I kept getting this error msg when trying to access layout boxes controller in admin:
WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.
It finally worked only after I began installing the sql patches.
Also noticed that have to turn on use css buttons in Layout Controller to get the pretty buttons.
Only my superior skill and experience testing templates allowed me to get past my hiccups. Naturally, I had your instruction page open but only glanced at it. :wink:

Yes, the readme.html file does insturct you to turn on css buttons for this template ;)
Did you read the part in the readme file where it says which patches to not run if you alrady have one of our templates installed?
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
I've reloaded all the unaltered template files but still no luck on the issue of my homepage text. However when viewed on mobile device I can see the text display for a moment the disappear. The text also shows up in the source.
Any thoughts? Java perhaps?

That is really weird. The home page text is in the includes/languages/english/html_includes/carlisle_fresh/define_main_page.php file. The text is wrapped in the div "home-text". Maybe you have a display:none; somewhere in your stylesheets? What is the link to your site?
Thanks,
Anne

No previous templates. This is a fresh 1.5.1 install last night after messing around with tomatocart for a few weeks. I don't even have Image Handler yet installed.
-
Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Hi Anne! To my eye this is a very sophisticated template. And I like how the home page slider is now controlled from admin/banners. Really terrific work. Thanks!
PS: Your work was the major reason why my flirting with tomatocart was short-lived. :)

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Just noticed that in "responsive mode" my conditions text doesn't show...perhaps I did something wrong?
Example at screenfly if it works:
http://quirktools.com/screenfly/#u=h...h=966&a=23&s=1
Here is my conditions page in regular mode:
http://www.prommart.com/index.php?main_page=conditions
Thanks!

And I bet that's why my About Us page text wouldn't display when on mobile either.
@SPH do you have any other of Anne's responsive templates installed on your site? If so does the text content display correctly on those?

Probably not. The bug is in this template and sheffield blue for sure, but may also be in the responsive apparel boutique and responsive all business.
Thanks,
Anne

No, no other templates. This was a fresh 1.5.1 ZC install last night and this is my only template (thus far, LOL :wink: I suppose it depends upon what Anne comes up with next.)
I noticed my other pages do not show either: "About Us", etc. However, "Contact Us" does show.

Dare I say it Anne but I *think* that introduces another bug/contradiction.
If I add all the content1 changes then mobile text content displays as expected but the DETAILS/DESCRIPTION drop down on product info pages remain fixed 'open' and at the same time in desktop the footer links vanish...
:unsure:

I have not tested for kindle Fire. What is the screen resolution? I have only tested on these devices, so it is possible that there will be problems on untested device.
Tested on the iPhone 5 with Mobile Safari 6.0; iPad 4 with Mobile Safari 6.0; Windows Phone 8 with IE10 Mobile; Blackberry Bold 9900 with Blackberry Browser 9900; and Android Nexus 4 with Chrome Mobile 18, Dolphin Mobile 9.3, Firefox Mobile 19, Marathon Mobile 4, Opera Mobile 12, Sleipnir Mobile 2.9

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Hi,
I just uploaded your patched version. The conditions, etc., pages now show in responsive mode. Thanks.
However, the CUSTOMER SERVICE area in the footer area now does not show any links in regular mode. It does work in responsive mode by clicking the down arrow.
Same with your demo.

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Hi!
I'm first timer installing ZC to my hosting service and I'm trying to change the template to Carlisle Fresh.
I made a fresh install of my ZC through Softaculous and it's 1.5.1.
I followed the carlisle_fresh_readme.html instructions to the letter and I'm now stuck on the Column Layout Grid part.
I did like it said, but I can find the About Us page in the Define Page Status section.
Help please...

Code:
INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES

If I install fresh ZC, should that patch replace some of those that are in the carlisle_fresh_readme.html instructions?

I tried to install fresh ZC and put that patch that you suggested instead of the about_us.sql patch.
Even that did bring the About us page to the Define Page Status list.

That Patch that you gave didn't work and the patch that was with the installation package didn't work, but the one in here worked.
It little bit simpler and I have no idea why it worked for me when the other didn't.

You really need to upgrade your site. You are using a very old version that is no longer officially supported. The newest version 1.5.1 had tons of bug fixes, new features, and security enhancements.
The error you are seeing is because the template has been designed to use with version 1.5x. The admin_pages table does not exist in version 1.3.8. You can use the template on this old version, but you will have to make adjustments in the sql patches and admin files.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Wow Anne I am impressed with your very quick response! :smile: :bow:
I tried to upgrade but I could not get the VAT settings right. I need to calculate VAT on Dutch companies and no VAT on companies inside EU. Right now I had to restore my old 1.3.8 installation with the old VAT-MOD which is working.
I know I have to upgrade, but I am struggling with it.

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
I just installed this template (BTW, it is very nice), but am having an issue where the Useful Links section in the header menu is not being populated (under Info|Useful Links).
The EZ Page is configured to show on the header, footer, and sidebox (just in case it is needed), but it still does not display. I would be find in having that section removed altogether (have not found where to do that), but if it is there, it should be functional.
Any help will be appreciated.

This is not a problem with the template. If you follow the instructions in the readme.html file you will see how to enable these links in the header menu.
Thanks,
Anne

Anne,
Thank you very much. I went over all of the steps again, and now it is working fine. Not sure what I may have skipped.

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Hi Anne
Thanks again for another beautiful template!
I'm just getting to work on a new website, www.beadelves.com. So far, everything displays correctly in Firefox, but in Internet Explorer 8 I'm not seeing any links in the Customer Service area of the footer. To re-iterate, I can see them fine in Firefox but not Internet Explorer.
When IE8 first loads, I do see those links briefly, for just a second, then the footer "collapses" on itself and the links disappear. This happens when I re-load too if I change the footer link color.
I'm guessing it's a CSS/IE8 compatibility issue of some sort, but I've searched online and checked the forum here and have not seen anything resembling this problem, other than what was already discussed in this thread. As far as I know, though, that bug was fixed in the version of Carlisle Fresh I downloaded, because I downloaded it just a week ago.
Thank you in advance to anyone who has any thoughts/ideas!

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Update on my problem: I'm messing with IE8 Developer tools, and when I disable Javascript, the links in the footer display correctly.
And, when I run the IE8 console debugging, I get the following error: "Expected identifier, string or number" and it points to this line of code (line 458, character 7)
Code:
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#foo1").carouFredSel({
auto: false,
align: "center",
padding: [0, 25, 0, 20],
width: "100%",
height: "197px",
items: {
visible: 4,
minimum: 1
},
scroll: {
fx: "directscroll"
},
prev : {
button : "#foo1_prev",
},
next : {
button : "#foo1_next",
}
});
});
--></script>
Line 458 is the }, after "button : "#foo1_prev","
This code is for the featured products carousel.

Anne - should "configuration_id, " be deleted from this code? This patch didn't work for me either, and when I looked at the database, field content was off by one ('Define About Us Status' wasn't there at all, 'DEFINE_ABOUT_US_STATUS' was under title instead of key, '1' was under key instead of value, etc.). Moving the correct content to the correct fields fixed the problem. Other than that, I'm very excited about changing my current look to this template, very nice!
Thanks!

Thanks for posting. I am not sure if this was posted in this thread or another, but I do have this already marked down to fix in a future update.

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Thanks Anne, i must have missed that.
New question, and I'm sure there will be more before I'm done... ;-) I'm trying to modify the header so that its image goes across the entire width of the page (980 px, like the home page slideshow). The image appears correctly and shrinks with browser window as desired, and the login/cart/checkout area overlaps it as desired, but the main column on 2-column pages gets pushed to the bottom, below the left column (when laptop browser window is full size). How do I fix that, and how can I reduce the distance between the header image and the main navigation menu (in a perfect world, I'd have them overlap)? I tried messing with all kinds of wrapper margins in stylesheet.css, but am not getting anywhere. Which elements do I need to modify?
Thank you!

I would recommend adding the large header image as a background image on the element #headerWrapper. In general, you can make background images responsive by adding background-size: 100%;

Hi Anne - oy, i must be doing something wrong because that made things worse. Here's the code I used:
#headerWrapper {margin:0;padding:0;background:transparent url(../images/asn-header-feather.png) no-repeat 100% center;}
With the full width image in #headerWrapper's background, it lowered itself on the page. On home page it practically disappears behind the sliders, with the login/cart/checkout links hanging in the middle of nothing way up above it. On 2-column pages it's maybe 50-100 pixels lower than it should be (this brings it closer to the main nav, which i like, but too far from top of screen, which i don't like). Also, main column is still below the left instead of next to it. I haven't yet tried making the header image clickable so it links to home page...
BTW, this is NOT a new ZC install, I'm switching from the Classic template, and I do have a bunch of plugins. I haven't yet copied their template-specific files to Carlisle folders - should I do that before I mess with anything else? Maybe active plugins that can't find their template-specific files are interfering?
Thank you!

I would add the background-size:100%; as a separate declaration.
If you post a link to your site I can take a look.

Try adding this to the bottom of the responsive.css file:
Code:
.ie8 .content1{display:block !important;}
Thanks,

Hi Anne - I tried that, too, with the same result. Also, forgot to mention earlier, when I totally removed the logo, the #headerWrapper bgd image became cut off on the top, and login/cart/checkout links jumped up to the very top of the page (above my shipping banner), and on home page the bgd image jumped below the main nav menu and was almost completely hidden behind the slider. So I added a transparent logo file, just 1 px wide but 150 px tall. That fixed the cutting off issue, but not the issues I described previously. Also, whether the transparent logo is there or not, on home page the area with category thumbnails appears pushed to the right (Featured Products carousel and everything below it seems fine, I love the carousel feature BTW).
The link to the testing site (my only one with Carlisle at this point) is http://test.allstringsnylon.info - thank you!

Unfortunately that didn't work. I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up before... does anyone else out there have any ideas? My footer links are not showing in IE8 when the page javascript is enabled, they show fine in Firefox and Safari and Chrome though.

Oh my goodness.... I did it. Thank you, Anne, you pointed me in the right direction. At the bottom of stylesheet.css in the carlisle_fresh css directory, you had already put
Code:
.ie8 .content{display:block !important;}
so I put this beneath it:
Code:
.ie8 .content1{display:block !important;}
.
Is this problem because of the carousel and this line of code in the beginning of tpl_footer_menu.php?
Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
jQuery(".content1").hide();
//toggle the componenet with class
If so, what does that portion of the code do? (I'm just curious)
Thanks again!!

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Hi, I'm having an issue with displaying the 'Conditions' on my website (is there a SQL patch to solve this). Also is there any way of making the featured products on the main page responsive for hand held devices? I'm using Zen Cart 1.5.1 and am very new to this.
http://www.view-jepsons.com/
Kind regards

The featured products on the main page is responsive.
See the demo:

There should be no problems with the define pages content.

It is not really related to the javascript. I mistakenly used the content class which is already used by zen cart, so it has been changed to content1.

If I were you, I would restore the original stylesheet and tpl_header.php file. Just add your logo as the logo should be added and then adjust the other header elements using css to suit your needs.
If you will not be using the tagline, there is a patch posted earlier in the thread with corrected code for the tpl_header.php file.
Thanks,
Anne

Thanks Anne,
Turns out the tagline was indeed causing the problem, but when I replaced its content in header.php with a space rather than leave it totally blank, that fixed the header position issue.
But...now that my logo/header image goes across the entire width, one can't enter anything in the search field - looks like it's underneath the logo (as are the login/cart/checkout links and the main menu, but those somehow function properly). I tried applying z-index values of 9000 and 1, respectively, to #headerWrapper and #navMainWrapper, but that didn't help. What do you suggest?
Thanks!

You need to add a width to the overlapping elements. I would add borders of different colors to the elements to see which is overlapping.

I am having problems with the login/cart/checkout links at the top of the page. My page shows just the bottoms of each of them and they are not legible, I was wondering if there was a way to fix this. Site www.lutheranshirts.com

You can change the stylesheet.css from:
Code:
#navMain ul {float: right;line-height: 1.5em;list-style-type: none;margin: -80px 0 0;padding: 0 0 0.5em;text-align: right;}
to
Code:
#navMain ul {float: right;line-height: 1.5em;list-style-type: none;margin: -40px 0 0;padding: 0 0 0.5em;text-align: right;}

Hi Anne - maybe I didn't say what I meant - the vertical and horizontal position on the screen is now good for all elements, it's the depth that seems to be a problem. Instead of the header/logo image being in the background of the search field, the search field appears to be in the background of the (semi-transparent) logo image. As a result, although I can see the search field, when I try typing in it, instead I'm hovering over the logo. I noticed that in Firefox and Opera I can actually type in the field, but then clicking the magnifying glass icon does nothing. Pressing "enter" does complete the search, but that's only FF and Opera, in Chrome and Safari I can't even type the search term (haven't checked IE yet...) My guess is this is a layer issue, but I don't seem to be able to figure out what's in what layer and how to put the search field in front of the header/logo. What file(s) and element(s) should I be editing?
Thanks!

There is no problem. The search glass is not an icon or button, just a background image.

Hi Anne,
OIC, never mind the icon then, but I'm still unable to enter a search term into the search field in Chrome or Safari (on Windows 7)... How do I move the search gizmo in front of the header image? Or is there some browser-specific code I need? (Works in Firefox, Opera and IE.) In case you'd like to take a look, it's at http://test.allstringsnylon.info/

I have already given you my best advice on how to trouble shoot this. My guess is that there is a width or height that is covering the search. See my previous post for trouble shooting tips.

Hi Anne, i really love this theme. i have only one question that i simply can't find.
(new to the responsive i guess) I have my banners all a lot larger, in height.
Where can i change that? i just can't find it. ( its a first in your great templates that I have to ask for help!)

Re: Carlisle Fresh Template Support Thread
Hi Anne, thanks for this great template!!
here comes the most dumb of the questions in this thread... I'm configuring the template but I cannot find the "Carousel Featured Products Configuration" option right under Carlisle Fresh in the Configuration drop down menu.
(may be I eventually missed an SQL patch, but I am afraid of running them again because of the warnings)
Can you figure out my mistake?
Thanks a lot :smile:
