Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi Anne
when clicking download link I get "This ID doesn't exist!".
When viewing demo on phone and Kindle the 'home' and 'cart' icons are hidden in the dropdown menu.

You can give it a try again now ;)
I have not looked at it on a kindle specifically. Which phone are you using? These are the devices on which I tested:
Tested on the iPhone 5 with Mobile Safari 6.0; iPad 4 with Mobile Safari 6.0; Windows Phone 8 with IE10 Mobile; Blackberry Bold 9900 with Blackberry Browser 9900; and Android Nexus 4 with Chrome Mobile 18, Dolphin Mobile 9.3, Firefox Mobile 19, Marathon Mobile 4, Opera Mobile 12, Sleipnir Mobile 2.9. What is the screen resolution of the kindle?
Thanks,
Anne

Minor alignment issue. Tablet in portrait mode. IE10 Windows8RT
I don't know how you do your magic with all the various combinations of hardware & browsers available. This is probably a very remote example.

I verify this glitch. Another hidden one is on a mobile device, click the menu dropdown, select search tab, the magnifying glass icon is out of alignment.
-
Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Actually, the mis-alignment occurs in FF, Chrome & IE on my desktop too (Win7). It is the step between the widest screensize and the first step down to a narrow mobile device.

Did you install the sql patches that come with the template?

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi.
I was a little fast out of the blocks, as should have also said that
the Layout Boxes Controller isn't complete as all it shows is the following accross the page.
WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.
Box File Name LEFT/RIGHT COLUMN Status LEFT or RIGHTCOLUMN LEFT/RIGHT COLUMN
Sort Order SINGLE COLUMNSort Order SINGLE COLUMNStatus Show Box @ Min-Width Action
and no details underneath. I did install the layout controller.php included in the Responsive Sheffield-Blue download.
Not sure what to do to correct.
Any help would be appreciated
Hope this all makes sense.

Many thanks

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to fix the following.
Seems maybe where my problem lies

I found a mistake in the respnosive.sql file and it is missing this:
Code:
ALTER TABLE layout_boxes ADD show_box_min_width TINYINT( 1 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '1' AFTER layout_box_status_single;
Thanks,

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi
Well I uninstalled Zen Cart so as DB would be fresh then reinstalled Zen Cart. Then followed instructions carefully for Responsive Sheffield Blue install, however still get the same warning(WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again) I refresh page but nothing. and nothing in the Layout Controller Box except headings Did update the responsive sql patch as above.
I'm about ready to tear my hair out, as I took the installation very carefully but must have missed something.
Anyone any help please.(...all4kidz dot co dotnz /NewZen)
Many thanks

Uploaded to admin or renamed admin, and uploaded layout controller.php to this directory. Hope this makes sense.

Did you back up your layout_controller.php file before installing the template? If so, restore it and see if the layout boxes controller works.
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Yes, Anne, I also have the 'Layout Box Controller' Problem. Looks like this package is not as good as your others...
I have followed your instructions and the order strictly, go from the beginning, step by step... and then I have this problem and can not go further...
If I restore the back-up file, then the 'Tools->Layout Box Controller' menu works, I can do the reset, but this is the old file, it wont go to the new template...

Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence!
I am reluctant to say that this is a bug in the template since so many people are installing it with no problems. You need to have this part of the patch installed for the responsive option in the layout boxes controller to show:
Code:
SET @configuration_group_id=0;
SELECT (@configuration_group_id:=configuration_group_id) FROM configuration_group WHERE configuration_group_title= 'Layout Settings' LIMIT 1;
INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES
(NULL, '<font color="#0044ff">ACTIVATE Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths</font>', 'COLUMN_WIDTH', '2', 'Width of the Left and Right Columns<br />0 = Use Default Template Settings<br />1 = 75px<br />2 = 150px<br />3 = 225px',@configuration_group_id, NULL, NOW(), NULL, 'zen_cfg_select_option(array(\'0\', \'1\', \'2\', \'3\'),');
ALTER TABLE layout_boxes ADD show_box_min_width TINYINT( 1 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '1' AFTER layout_box_status_single;
Thanks,
Anne

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi Anne
Yes I did back up the Layout controller.php and if I use the "OLD" file the layout box works fine except that it does't include the responsive sheffield blue boxes.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Hi Anne
Good news, "by mistake" I started uploading responsive Sheffield blue again, after about 20sec realized what I was doing, stopped the upload, and hey presto all now working (I think).
Don't know what happened.
All I have to do now is sort out the left and right boxes so as the positioning looks good.
Many thanks for a great template and your unselfish time to help.
Kind regards

Hi there,
Has this package been updated yet.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
While waiting on the update to be approved in the plugins area, I thought I would take a look-see at the files and instructions.
I'm trying to get my head around what procedure I should follow for upgrading an existing Sheffield_Blue template to a Responsive_Sheffield_Blue template.
I'm guessing I need to:
- know what Sheffield_Blue 'core' files have been altered and merge those changes into my existing site.
- upload new responsive files
- apply responsive.sql
Alternatively, as I've only recently started working on the Sheffield_Blue site, and as a last resort, it may be better to start on a fresh Responsive_Sheffield_Blue template and incorporate the changes I've made on the old site.
Possibly I'm overthinking this, as usual.

I think that the best procedure would be to install the responsive template on a mirror of your site and then incorporate or merge your changes into the new site.

Love your work and this template is beautiful. I have a problem I posted on your site - the define pages for About Us does not show either in Define Page Status or in the Tool define pages. All 4 SQL's are installed. The About Us shows on page so it is all clickable, but not the defined edit capability. Am I missing something?

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue - page width
Hi
Hi
I have just changed the page width of our site by changing..
.onerow-fluid{width:/*980px*/950px;*zoom:1;/*background: #fff;*/margin:0 auto;}
I am just checking to see that, that is all that needs to be changed, or will this change upset the layout of the site somewhere else.
Many thanks for a great template.

I can not tell you for certain that this is the only place that needs to be changed unless I make these changes on a test site somewhere. I would recommend testing everything out to see if this is the only change that needs to be made.

I am not sure for I haven't looked at the responsive.css file for this template so am unsure if Anne altered the px and % fluid calculations.
But in the original responsive.css file the px and % fluid calculation are precise to 75px (the code includes 12 div's at 75px to calculate total width) including margins and changing (1) to anything other than - or + 75px or its % equivalent will most definitely break at some point on some devise or screen size.
-
Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue - page width
Hi Anne,
I don't know if you've been following my other thread but you might want to take a look at the SQL patches syntax. It is not directly causing my issue but was identified as a side effect.

Try removing the first field from those INSERT statements, since it should never be supplied if it's just gonna be auto-incremented (null) anyway. I've highlighted them here, from your first code snippet:
Code:
INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES
(NULL, '<font color="#0044ff">ACTIVATE Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths</font>', 'COLUMN_WIDTH', '2', ........

There are changes to these since I have made the left and right hand columns come out to 180px.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
Great template Anne, thank you!
I've got it loaded in a fresh 1.5.1 and it's looking great. However, I'm seeing a problem in both my localhost dev site and your live demo, both in chrome and IE:
I view product info page, no "details" or "description" show. Only the picture and the add-to-cart section above and the social links below.
In order to properly view the product info I have to:
1. shrink window to make it "mobile size" (or whatever one calls it) and to view the Details and Description expansion links.
2. click them to expand and the info is there.
3. re-size the window large and the info remains viewable.
Notes:
If I hit F5 (refresh) it all goes away again and I have to resize again to make it show.
If I fail to expand the 2 links in "mobile mode" before re-sizing the window large that doesn't do it either.
The only chrome extention I have is adblockplus which I disabled to no effect.
I'm thinking I should see the product info in a normal PC size browser window without having to do all that?
THANKS!
Scott

Try removing the first field from those INSERT statements, since it should never be supplied if it's just gonna be auto-incremented (null) anyway. I've highlighted them here, from your first code snippet:
Code:
INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_id, configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES
(NULL, '<font color="#0044ff">ACTIVATE Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths</font>', 'COLUMN_WIDTH', '2', ........
I get the same result with configuration_id VALUE NULL as I do if I remove it from the SQL patch
Result = highest configuration_id +1
I will update my template packages at my earliest convenience, IMO this has nothing to do with the blank configuration key issue of @RixStix
However, DrByte is the man and if he says "remove it", remove it.
Maybe DrByte can weigh in on how to go about doing this.
I would suggest including a patch to delete current configuration_key
DELETE FROM configuration WHERE configuration_key = 'COLUMN_WIDTH';
But this will have no effect if the configuration_key is blank
Changing the sql_patch is easy enough
INSERT INTO configuration (configuration_title, configuration_key, configuration_value, configuration_description, configuration_group_id, sort_order, date_added, use_function, set_function) VALUES
('<font color="#0044ff">ACTIVATE Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths</font>', 'COLUMN_WIDTH', '2', 'Width of the Left and Right Columns<br />0 = Use Default Template Settings<br />1 = 75px<br />2 = 150px<br />3 = 225px',@configuration_group_id, NULL, NOW(), NULL, 'zen_cfg_select_option(array(\'0\', \'1\', \'2\', \'3\'),');
Even though the SQL patch tool recognizes configuration_id as an AUTO_INCREMENT value and ignores it using the original patch.
I will copy this in the other thread as well in hopes to get a response from the man himself.

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue - page width
I did not mean to imply that this was causing my problem or to stir a hornet's nest. I only wanted to relay what I had been told about the patch while trying to fix the other problem that just coincidentally appeared when installing the template.

By no means are you stirring a hornet's nest.
As you can see we have just started implementing this code into our templates and any and all findings are being handled promptly to ensure all bugs are fixed.

By any chance did you install another responsive template?

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
I want to move all the language, currency, shopping cart, etc... to the top of the header. If someone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Also I don't use the sales text. When I deleted the text and just had the single quotes, the main part of my site disappeared as did the right sideboxes. But when I put in single space, it will move my logo up and leave an uneven gap at the bottom. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Here is a link to my site:

ps. I love your template, I can know tell my customers they may browse my site on most devices.... Thanks.

Hi Anne,
Firstly let me say how generous you are with your help and great templates.
I'm torn between Responsive All Business and Responsive Sheffield Blue.
The only thing is, how difficult would it be, and what would it entail to move the Slider down so it it sits between the left and right columns(Sheffield blue) like it show in responsive all business.
Many thanks
Grandpa

You will need to change the width of the slide show and then remove the call for it in the tpl_main_page.php file and add it to the define_main_page.php.

Have you set all the layout settings exactly as per the readme instructions?

The template is designed to use a 180px left and right hand column. If you want to change these widths you will have to adjust the columns in the responsive.css.
Thanks,
Anne

Attachment 13132 Love the quick response guys. So you can see my settings in the screenshot, no matter what we change the left/right boxes to, it won't help. Also, something I see odd, is that for the option [ ACTIVATE Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths ] it's set at 2 which is 150PX not sure if this is what's messing it up? specially since you want us to change it to 180PX.
The screenshot attached get's much smaller, here's a link to it:

Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
I am having the same issue.. If I maximize Chrome/Firefox.. it will move the center column under the first column.. If I shrink Chrome.. it moves everything back to where it's supposed to be.. If I have the right column with boxes in it, it will move them under the left column...
It's like it's not recognizing a max over width setting for the container of all 3 columns...
Here is link to beta site..

I will toy with the responsive.css later today.
Thanks!

If you want to use different widths for the left and right hand columns than are included in the template (180px) then you will need to make adjustments to the responsive.css file.
Thanks,
Anne

Have you compared your admin settings to the recommended admin settings as specified in the readme.html file? These need to be followed.
Thanks,

The Responsive design uses 3 column, the left column, the center column and the right column. As you shrink your browser or view your site in say a "mobile device", the responsive code stacks those columns.
So at maximum width you get:
left column center column right columns
and at min width you get
left column
center column
right columns

By selecting values 1,2 or 3 in the ACTIVATE Responsive Template by selecting Column Widths configuration, it overrides and makes null the stock Column Width - Left/Right (Boxes) configuration).
Selecting 2 for 150px sets the responsive CSS code to 180px (the CSS was altered to 180px not the config value but still sets it at 180px)

Your site is functioning as it should - see post #84 to understand how the responsive code stacks the columns at min-width.

The problem is at MAX width it's behaving as if it's at a narrow width... as I narrow the max width.. it behaves like it should.. then as I narrow it more.. it goes back to stacking the columns.
The Demo site that is linked on the download works perfect.. Max width of my screen.. it's all aligned at about a 960px width or so... all 3 columns where they should be.
Mine is not following this behaviour.

I have looked at your site in the latest FF, IE, Opera, Chrome, iPhone 5S, Apple iPad and Google Nexus.
The only thing that is keeping your site from shrinking and expanding correctly is google maps (it is not designed to be responsive), it is built using tables (tables will only shrink until the content within doesn't allow them too.).
-
Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
removed the google map and it's just two sentences of basic text.. Behaviour is still there. It's got to be a width issue in the css file or a column is not being recognized properly.
-
Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
If I change category width to 225 in the responsive options.. it does a correct layout at all sizes.. I just don't need the first column to be that wide...

Actually it doesn't and now I see what you are talking about.
col3 - 225px for left column
should produce col8 - center column if right column is 0
where yours is producing col6

I agree their is an issue but keep in mind about what I said about the html tables in the google map code.
I will play with the test site to see if I can reproduce this.
What are your admin global disable settings?
Where any additional per page disable flags set?

Just out of curiosity,
Do you have any active right side-boxes?
Do you plan to use the right column?
If no to both, change the Column Right Status - Global to VALUE 0
If yes to either, check to see if any are configured to show in the right column in the tools > layout box controller page
-
Re: Responsive Sheffield Blue
When I turn that global value to 0.. not it constantly moves middle column underneath first column.. It does not matter what width I select.. 75, 150, or 225....
Also.. in 150.. the one sentence will run off the screen.. i'm going to take out the Google Map just for peace of mind.
I have also notice that the Featured Products bar is getting messed up with either modes.. I wonder if this is a symptom or the problem? Where can I adjust that?

Here is a picture in Firefox.. my screen resolution is 1920x1080..
See how the featured products banner is not formatted right in first pic. and in second pic when I bring the browser into a smaller size it sets up correctly.

Yes, this is correct ;) I have this bug on a list for a future template update.
