Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
Hi there,
I know that this is a great module and very helpful with people who are using zc so I've upgraded the code so that it can work well with zc 1.5.x. I have submitted to zen cart plugin and waiting for approve.
If you have any question, please ask here and I will support you.
Best Regards,
Chu

Re: Support Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x
Hi,
I uploaded this plugin and it worked right away. Also, was an easy upload.
http://www.prommart.com/ (site being rebuilt - 1.5.1)
What I always liked about this plugin was that you can link products into various categories while retaining the original canonical link, and without having to use the c and p in the url.
As before, this plugin occupies two places in admin.
1. The admin/simple seo url works.
2. One problem: the admin/extras/simple seo url manager DOES NOT work. I get a blank page. So when I renamed a test category the simple seo did not also rename it since I cannot get to the cache to flush it for the name change. I'm assuming same would be should I rename a product.
I think we'll get this solved soon so it will be a great plugin for zencart for those who want pretty urls. I like that this is one of the older pretty url plugins.

Re: Support Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x
I got the updated simple seo url plugin from your site and I can now see the alias manager in my admin/extras/simple seo url manager.
I did have to make an "aliases" folder in cache/ssu to get the aliases cache to re-set.
Appears to be working okay now, thanks!

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
I recently upgraded to Zencart 1.5.1 and my brother (SPH) installed the SSU Manager. It appearerd to be working well until we saw that the pages suddently disappeared from the Manage Aliases page. It should have shown 77+ pages and was only showing 2 pages.
We figured out that if we just changed the url to a high page number in the browser, we could page through at that point.
https://www.promstobeaches.com/admin...s.php?page=200
So we did a reinstall and started over. It seemed OK for a while until the pages disappeared again. At first was able to adjust the browser url to page through the category and product listings but now that does not even work. So I have no way of paging through to see all of the pages, except for 2 pages.
Then, I noticed that after I uploaded a test product, the total number of urls showing at the bottom of SSU Manager did not increase by 1. I assume it should have shown up at the top of the first page of the manager as the latest ID. I thought it might take a while to appear but it still has not and I did this yesterday.
Attachment 13411
Also, I noticed a few days ago that one of the categories was not showing in SSU, at least not that I could find.
I appreciate any help you may be able to provide on this because I really don't want to go back to magic seo urls.
Thank you,
Nancy

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
Hi:
I have v 1.5.1. I just downloaded the latest Simple SEO and found that there are no installation instructions. Can someone tell me specifically how to install this? Where each folder and contents go, etc? I have had so much trouble in the past that I don't want to just "wing it."
Thank you,
Silver

Hello again:
Is there anyone who can help with the above Simple SEO install?
Thank you,

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
I think you can read the readme.txt. I do not know how to support if you have not any problem :-)
You also need to open the .htaccess, read the text and change it.

Now may be you see why I am looking for help. I'm not sure where the content of each folder goes. I have also never had any experience with the .htacess file. I really think that this plugin will help my website with SEO. This is my website: http://www.petluxuryboutique.com

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
Hey I got this working, I like it, thanks. I am getting tons of error logs though, with every page load I think, please see below, any ideas? When I turn this off in Admin, I don't get any of these error logs. Most of the error logs are this first one below:
[06-Mar-2014 22:23:13] PHP Warning: require(includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_faviconico_default.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in .../includes/templates/responsive_template_default/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 233
[06-Mar-2014 22:23:13] PHP Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required 'includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_faviconico_default.php' (include_path='.:/hsphere/shared/apache/libexec/php5ext/php/') in .../includes/templates/responsive_template_default/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 233
[06-Mar-2014 22:38:44] PHP Warning: require(includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_robotstxt_default.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in .../includes/templates/responsive_template_default/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 233
[06-Mar-2014 22:38:44] PHP Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required 'includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_robotstxt_default.php' (include_path='.:/hsphere/shared/apache/libexec/php5ext/php/') in .../includes/templates/responsive_template_default/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 233
Other ones I get are ... tpl_appletouchiconpng_default.php and similar
I know I can add these files and make them empty files to stop the logs, but would like to know the real reason they are happening, cause sometimes a new one pops. this is on my live site.
thanks.

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
I was looking through some of the Simple SEO URL files and I stumbled across this code in the cron/ssu.php file
PHP Code:
// please change admin folder name if necessary
require('../admin/includes/configure.php');
This should be in the install readme instructions, right? Important? I was trying to figure out why I don't get mostly all of those log error messages on my public/test site but I get them on my public/ live site.
-
Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
It's not important. You can leave it if you want.

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
I still get error message Log anytime I try to access an old web page from before I installed Zen Cart, and some of these logs are for web pages where nobody should be able to find them, except for search engines crawling all these other pages in my root folder. and this would explain why I don't get all these error messages logs on my test site. So I'm thinking about using a rewrite rule root/includes what do you think about that? That should work
-
Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
Ok so here is what is going on and how to fix it. If somehow someone or something goes to a mysite.com/directory/index.html link I used before Zencart, i get the error log, but if I add a rewrite cond RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/directory.* [NC] to my .htaccess file, then I don't get the error log, also then it will use the setting I have in my hosting account control panel to redirect all 404 errors to my home page (or what ever link/page I want) if I remove the directory or file and someone finds the old link somewhere. I also added RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.(html|jpg|png|gif|ico|txt)$ [NC] .
Some of these error logs I don't understand why I get them, they are for tpl_phpMyAdmin_default.php , tpl_pma_default.php and tpl_myadmin_default.php , I get these 3 error logs at the same exact time, and I don't get these right when I access my phpMyAdmin from my hosting account control panel, and myadmin is not the name of my admin.
I can also prevent many of these error logs by adding a empty blank file with these file names in the templates folder, as mentioned above, I did this for the ones that were happening all the time like the faviconico error log.
Here is the .htaccess file code below I'm using in my site's root folder:
Options +FollowSymLinks -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
# Make sure to change "zencart" to the subfolder you install ZC. If you use root folder, change to: RewriteBase /
#RewriteBase /zencart/
RewriteBase /
# Deny access from .htaccess
RewriteRule ^\.htaccess$ - [F]
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.(html|jpg|png|gif|ico|txt)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/directory.* [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.+) index.php/$1 [E=VAR1:$1,QSA,L,PT]

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
I am completely new to Zen Cart (I've used Opencart for years) and I really don't understand the installation readme file.
I. HOW TO INSTALL
1. Upload all folders/files from zencart_files/ to destination folder on your server.
2. Open .htaccess and change it (you can see an example in it)
II. HOW TO USE
1. Go to Configuration - Simple SEO URLs and enable it.
- I have uploaded the files from the zencart_files folder to the server and selected to merge the folders.
- What do I need to change in the htaccess file and where is the file?
- Simple SEO URLs is not in my Configuration menu.
Do I need to do something with the simple_seo_url.sql file that is included? Like I said I've used Opencart for years so I'm not a total clueless newbie but I can't find any instructions on how to install this and It's driving me nuts!
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Ty

Has the latest version of this mod been tested with zen-cart v1.5.3?
-
Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
I did a quick look through the code and noticed that the file:
includes/functions/html_output.php
Seems to be based off an older version from 1.5.0. This file needs to be updated for 1.5.3.

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
Will this module generate urls in batch automatically or with an action from admin when product is imported with easy populate?
Or does it require each page to be manually generated like the Ceon module?
Thanks for keeping this module up to date.

While I don't have a specific answer to your question, I offer a correction to the second statement, in that it is possible for urls to be generated for the CEON module without loading each page (ie. via EasyPopulate) So that comparison is not necessarily accurately written.

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
Hi All
I am using this plugin and it works fine except in few cases.
In the product list page I have added 'Add to cart' button for each product listed and the following url is opened on that button click "index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14_18&products_id=1315&qty=1". After enabling simple seo plugin. it is not working.
Can anyone guide me on how to pass qty value in the seo url?

It does, I have ZC 1.5.4 installed and SSU works just fine.
Though I have a question for the authors or anyone else familiar with the subject. In the old versions, you had a button where you could manually create an alias, not just edit existing ones. I can't seem to find that in this new version.
Example: We all have the additional Page 2, Page 3, Page 4 in the ZenCart, but if I decide to rename the Page 2 into "Happy Tree Friends" (via language and template code editing), I cannot change the URL (alias) of Page 2 from mysite.com/page2/ into mysite.com/happy-tree-friends/ . Or can I? :)

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
Does anyone know if this is compatible with v1.55? I have a client who had this installed on v1.54. However after an upgrade when SSU is turned on every page goes to a 404. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are those that may say yes it is/is possible, then there are those that would advise to use either of the other two URI rewriters if any at all. USU/CEON URI Mappings. The second offers a wider range of capturing old URIs so that visitors continue to be directed to the existing product regardless of the name it ends up being.

Re: Simple SEO URLs for ZC 1.5.x [Support Thread]
Hi,
I am using simple-seo-ur_v1.5.2 on Zen Cart V1.5.4 and everything works fine except for the Manufacturers URLs are not converted to use the Manufacturers Title. I used to use Ultimate SEO URLs but switched to Simple SEO URLs during my recent Zen Cart upgrade.
For example: Shop by colour (top right sidebox) on this site the URLs used to be like http://www.rugscentre.co.uk/beige-rugs-m-10.html but now they are like http://www.rugscentre.co.uk/index/manufacturers_id/10
Is it possible to do this? (But without the -m-10.html, so it would just be beige-rugs)
:-)

This plugin does not. There is only one uri rewriter that supports truly customizable URIS, all the others follow some sort of rule based use. (ie. Use product name and category, but change either and the previous uri is "lost").
So, no, can't use this uri rewriter to customize urls to a specific url, only one created through a process of database information.

Thanks for your reply. I can access the db via phpMyAdmin - could you offer guidance about doing this: "only one created through a process of database information". Or, what is the "one uri rewriter that supports truly customizable URIS" ?

CEON URI Mapping (SEO)
There are also ways to transition from using another uri rewriter to that one without losing the ability of the old link going to the new link.

Same problem here. SSU seems to work for everything except the Manufacturers URLs.
1. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
2. Not sure if its related, but the Alias Functions > Manage Aliases > "Add New Alias" button does nothing when clicked.
Anyone have these same problems?
