PayPal requiring A PayPal Account to process a credit card payment

Has anyone found a way to accept credit card payment without requiring the customer to set up a PayPal account?

I believe the customer can choose to use a card without an account. However, we have been fielding reports for months where the opportunity to do so is missing from the initial PayPal screens. It seems to be intermittent... not always there. I would bet it's a PayPal issue =)

The 100% foolproof way to do this is to set up a credit card gateway like Square or Authorize.

Still, this cannot be done on a standard PayPal account. It needs to be a business account.

I have a business account and it requires the customer to create a paypal account.

Sorry, you don't say whether or not you have set the settings per the instructions. Have you also done that?

Attached is my setup. Still not working.

The setting has to be done in PayPal itself. There is no setting in Zen Cart that controls this.

OK what setting are you referring to in my PayPal account?

@mprough @dbltoe If you can verify that this is truly a problem and not a misconfiguration in a storeowner's PayPal account, please post details and specifics so I can get the documentation updated.

Others: please bear in mind that the posted resolution of this issue (which is believed correct) is still dependent on PayPal not changing their minds and disallowing this configuration, which they could at any moment. *They could even do it on a store by store basis*.
