Edit issue on Product Page

Hi All,

I am having an issue with the display of some fields on the site have been doing my head in trying to locate the correct file to adjust.

This is the two images one is the live site and the second is the dev site.
Live Site display showing the following fields Availability (Need to remove this), Availability, Product Warranty, Manufactured by, Condition, SKU

Dev site Display only Showing Availability, Manufactured by and need to add the other fields

I have tried the tpl file but it does not seem to make any difference.

As always any help is appreciated.

1. Tried that but it would seem that something is wrong with one of the files which I think might be the nuninix related.

If I disable the stock quantity, Manafacturer it takes out all the other fields like Availability x 2, Condition, Warranty and SKU

I am unable to stop showing the quantity one (Availability) which is showing at the top. It will not disable it so I am thinking it could be a code issue.

That is for the Live site. Also note that I am not getting any error logs on the Live site or the dev site at present

I have tried to update the numinix module on the Dev site but I don't think that has worked as it should so will have to go over it a bit more later.

I don't want to take the mickey out of you, but you're going at this like someone who wants to check the oil, change a tire, and add anti-freeze to the radiator while driving you Ute down the motorway. All while balancing a floater.

I, and I am sure others, are reluctant to help as you seem determined to introduce a new problem while trying to resolve the last two or three. That's probably number 347 on the top ten list of ways to upgrade. You have a habit of instantly making the situation unique to your installation and extremely difficult for someone to help without specific access or attempting to mirror your settings on a local setup. Let's face it, none of the volunteers here have the time or inclinaton to vary from the standard installation and common practices as a free service.

I have spent a lot of money with so called experts over the years (not people from here in the past) who have stuffed things up on my site.

I have now been getting to a stage where I am not getting anymore log errors and the only thing that I can see is that the person that installed the numinix module (not me) stuffed it up and that is why I was asking for assistance on how to check the files and which ones because I am not getting anymore log errors(which is supposed to identify where the issues might be).

As to spending anymore money and with exchange rates make it more costly I am very hesitant in anymore investment into the site because of what has happened in the past.

Everyone is the same they blame the other person (which was not me it was a so called expert).

My biggest mistake was to let other people work on the site and that is why I am now trying to clean things up (having to learn everything again from scratch which is not easy for someone that is in there late 70 with short term memory loss). That is why I ask so many question on the forum.

Anyway thanks again for your advice but I thought that the software was free and the advice was free on the forum. I have a forum myself which gives free assistance to all members and at no time do we expect members to pay for the advice and manuals on how to fix things.

I fully respect everything you have said.

I think you are missing the point that almost every post is something new involving a site we can't really see and not knowing what mods or templates you are using without having to do a search of your posts every time you have a new question. And many questions have been coming while other problems are still unresolved.
Yes, the forum is free. And the docs are a million times better than just a few years ago. But what you are asking is for members to spend their time researching, examining, and establishing a test setup in order to begin trying to figure out what is going on.

If you are wanting help with the test site, make all your answers to the posting tips into your forum signature or include that with every post. Any item not known by a helping member is time wasted by all.

Consider making your dev site a subdomain and "hiding" it when you do a post. testDOTyour_siteDOTcom will not be picked up by the search engines and it would allow members to actually see the site. Or, when someone starts to assist, PM them the URL.

I believe that you are not fully aware of how much of your valuable time is spent waiting for someone who has the time it takes to help in your current circumstances. You could probably not afford it if you had to pay $1 for every minute someone spent investigating whether or not they felt they could come up with an answer. Much less, coming up with and presenting an answer.

I'm sure that others, like myself, have PM'd you with offers to help. You may want to consider what your time is worth and multiply that by how much time you have spent on the dev site so far.

It should be working now and it had to do with someone that worked on the site that changed the htaccess file causing the problem with viewing the site.

As I have said before that people that have worked on the site have done a few strange things and left files behind which I am slowly cleaning up when I find the issues.

Well, now that you have made the dev site visible to the public, Google will be happy to crawl it and totally screw up your SEO as it starts serving results pointing to the dev site instead of the live site...
I have been cleaning up a similar mess created by another developer that didn't know to hide the dev site for 6 months, as Google is slow to drop stuff no matter how hard you try to tell them to.
So what seems strange to you has a reason when implemented by someone who has been doing this for a long time.

I am curious as to how your live site is ahead of the dev site? how does such a thing happen? All changes should happen on the dev version first to test and then be replicated on the live site...
At this point I would wipe the dev site, and copy the live site into the dev folder along with the db to sync them up as a base starting point and don't let them drift apart in the future instead of trying to troubleshoot the dev site because you are going to end up adding more differences.

Also, in includes/templates/bootstrap/common/html_header.php you can change the robots tag to prevent unwanted indexing

Ok then how do I stop from being seen. What was in the htacess file was stopping everything and no one could see anything.

That is what I requested the people that did the work before but appears to have not happend so I wasted more than enough money because they would not follow directions.

So what you are saying is to copy all files over the the dev directory and also the database is that correct and then start from scratch updating the dev site prior to shifting over to the live site would that be correct?

I will do that tomorrow or the next day but keep a copy on the server without the htacess folder and would that stop google or not?

Just need to know what I have to do in regards to being able to view the site without google tracking it.

I would think that this thread should be closed until I move the files and see what errors show up.

I am not getting any at this stage on the live site.

No, that should not be removed; the lines I've highlighted above are providing that functionality.

The ROBOTS_PAGES_TO_SKIP constant is defined in /includes/extra_configures/robots_pages_to_skip.php.

What file or files do I need to change for the dev.outdoorking site. I have copied all the files from the live site to the dev site but now it is bringing up the live site.

I still have to do the database move but wanting to see the dev site is working

That .htaccess change on the dev site most likely limited access to only your IP address and that of the developer who made the change.
