Has anyone heard when the Japanese laguage pack is going to be available for Zen Cart 1.3.0.1?
At the beginning of the month, the guys (or guy) at the Japanese Support site as reported as saying that it would be available mid- to late May. So hopefully not too long to wait.Quote:

The good news is that they seem to have nearly finished and you can view the status of all files here:
http://www.zen-cart.jp/pukiwiki/722.html
I've also found a repository of Japanese 1.3 files:
https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...l10n-jp/trunk/
Please note that these are not final, may contain errors and are likely to change. Still, it beats translating the additional 1.3 strings from scratch (which is what I was doing until this morning). So glad I found this! Thank you, translation team...
Im not sure why they are taking their time.
I finished it within a day a few weeks ago but due to bad experience with os in Japan in the past (ie Japanese people REALLY get angry and expect company like support for free) will not share my work with the community at large.
If you are really struggling PM me and I will share it with you.
I used the above links and downloaded the 1.2 zen cart pack to try to make a complete japanese pack and i get it in and things look ok on the site, not too sure its all ok, but zen cart says "MISSING LANGUAGE FILES OR DIRECTORIES ... Japanese Japanese" I have used winmerge to compair all the files and they seem to be all there, infact i have more in the japanese pack, but still it says im missing stuff. I have no clue what to do here. Can anyone help?
I had the same thing. My highly technical fix was...
...ignore it.
I'm not sure if it's a bug or if Zen Cart needed to refresh something before recognising the new language files, but in any case the Japanese displays with no problems and logging in to the admin section the following day showed no error messages. I reckon if you've tested the display of the site with your own eyes and are happy then it should be OK.
well there seems to be an fatal error w/ this if you make it your default. all the answers that people seem to post don't work. do a search for my name and you can see my other posts, would be great if i can get some help on this.
If you are In Japan Godspeed, you are better off using the latest Japanese release which has support for Takyubin/yamato/sagawara etc rather than anything else IMO.
If you have problems you can just revert back to your backed up site and try again.
well will the admin side of things work in english if i do that?
:thumbsup: I got everything worked out, it was all my install fault, but im sure you all new that. thanks for the help. now the admin side of things can be in both japanese and english, it dosent say that I have any missing files anymore.
What I did, was save all the files from both the admin/includes/languages/japanese...... and so on, every file and pic
then i saved everything from includes/languagese/japanese.....everything in that, and it worked great!
I hope this will help someone else or some of you who have it where it says missing files in your admin side of things
Thanks and I know i am new and my questions might sound stupid to some but I will always try to post the answers to what I find out to help the other stupid people like me!:wink2:
Yes they will because incase you havent noticed all of the official development team are English speakers so that gets developed first then it gets translated by others.Quote:

Answer in every case - no.
https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...anese/modules/
I used everything I could find from this site so i think i am ok?????, i guess i will go all the way through the stuff and see what it offers me, i have not done that yet, been to busy just trying to set this stuff up to even go thorugh an order, starting this up and doing another job has been a lot of work, but fun.
I cant check that site from my current location but it looks like the same site as you posted above.
I think you will find that these are just the standard zen modules.
You kind of have to work it backwards, first sort out the difficult stuff like the shipping modules and payment modules (you can find old ones on the japanese zen site from memory) then you can add the Japanese which is comparatively easier.
PS Ill help you out a little the yamato shipping module doesnt work, I had to pay someone to help me fix it.
yeah, it is the same site, can i use the old ones from the j-1.2 zen cart?
Yes you can as a base.
i went through all the files that are from that site and the ones that they have are for the most part the same as the 1.2-j but there are some that it didn't have, so thanks a lot for tell me that! is there anything else to watch out for that you can think of?
yea the yamato one doesnt work and I had to pay for someone to fix it.
There is a normal Japan post one somewhere else and a Yu pack one too but I cant remember where they are.
What is the situation with the japanese language pack?
go to here
https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...l10n-jp/trunk/
You will need to go through all of it and get it all, it takes some time but its not bad, some of the files are not finished yet i think, but a lot are.
Well, we're creeping up on the end of June now and still no sign of the Japanese language pack. So for those of you that just can't wait anymore, I am going to post the files needed to move ahead as found at https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...l10n-jp/trunk/. It is quite time consuming downloading and editing each file from that site, so I hope this is helpful to some of you. I can't garuantee these to be complete (in fact I know that at least some of the image files are missing). But it's a start anyway. All files are encoded: Japanese (EUC). Find instructions on installing the language pack at: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Languages
I just noticed that I included a personal folder (includes\languages\japanese\japanese\shizenshop)in those files. Please simply delete that folder before uploading to your server. Sincere apologies!Quote:

godspeed27,
No, the only edit I did was to save them in Japanese (EUC) and zip them. Shortly after I began to personalize the files for my own site (after having aquired one by one from https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...l10n-jp/trunk/), it occurred to me that I might be able to save others a lot of time if I zipped and uploaded the files to this forum. Hope it helps.
Changing the encoding wont help much, the text is still in English in a lot of those files if you check :yes:
Reesy,
True, many files are English only content at this point. However, all of the essential files for a functional site in Japanese are included. And many of the files that are English only need to be encoded in the Japanese (EUC) for future editing. Some of the modules that you might need for payment shipping within Japan are missing. But as I said in my post, it's a start for those of us that need something.
Hello.
I am member of Japanese localization team.
I uploaded language pack snapshot for Japanese Zen Cart 1.3.
http://zencart-jp.sourceforge.jp/sna...-07-01.tar.bz2
I'm glad if it is useful for you.
Thanks,
So everything is translated it this? Also, has the address order been fixed in this?
No it wont be, its just the language thats changed, thats what a language pack is.
Thats just one of the things you have to change Shaun.
so then what actually changes the order of the page around?
3 files, this isnt related to the Japanese language pack, have you tried installing what they have there on a test site to see if they have made the changes in their localisation?
If not then maybe you can try.
Can you say what the three files are? I know one is the tpl_modules_address_book_details.php
whats the others?
I cant remember without checking, but your in the right area.
If you change those files it will always be different, ie for any English speaking customers you may have the address will be wrong.
Well Japan is what I want the most, so I don't care about the other countries set-ups
I would like a front in Japanese but still administrate it in English, is that possible? Will it be possible to just add Japanese to the available languages?
yeah, you can pick between the two when you are in the admin, don't worry:thumbsup:
I have downloaded and installed the buttons in Namasa’s ZenCart1.3.0.1jp.zip that were posted! Thank you so much Namasa!
Not all the buttons were in Japanese however... For example, in my cart, the button button_continue_checkout.gif is still in English...
I am wondering what the situation is with the Japanese buttons? Has anyone made their own or are we waiting for the Japanese localization team to do them?
Thanks!
Theres a photoshop template for the buttons in the admin side of things in the download.
HTH
Hmmm... Could not find what you were talking about so I downloaded the full version of Zen and still cannot find it. Could you please be a little more specific?
Thanks!

there is no way to run japanese icons for the japanese side of things and english icons for the english side of things?
Yes, they just have to be uploaded to the right place.
includes/languages/japanese/images and
includes/languages/english/images
are you sure its not includes/templates/template_default(your template)/buttons/(japanese/english)?Quote:

and then I checked the files from here
https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...l10n-jp/trunk/
They have all been translated that I can see. I know that from that last zip file on here, they were not.
You might want to get download them all for FireFox so its easy to get what you need
I added a fix to the address order in the download section
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=228
Just and fyi if you are sending emails out in Japanese, then you should update your includes/classes/order.php file as this will add 様 after the name. If you don't it sounds kind of rude. Also make sure you update all the files under includes/japanese if youd haven't yet.
Thanks for the tip godspeed27!
I want to download the latest Japanese pack, is there a single zip file available anywhere. If not in a previous post using FireFox to achive this was mentioned but I cannot seem to work out what to do. Could someone explain this please?
You can go to the link, https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...l10n-jp/trunk/ , and if you have firefox you can install an extension into it called DownThemAll!, http://www.downthemall.net/ , then go to that first link, pick the php files that you want to download and download them! You could always make the zip file for everyone:smartass: ?
I also noticed just now as I am trying to install time offset that it has order.php as one of the files to change, so you will have to add the code to that file.
on line 861 it should read as this
$this->customer['firstname'] . ' ' . $this->customer['lastname'] . EMAIL_GREET . "\n\n" .
added to that line was the EMAIL_GREET.
I think this should be all that is needed, if anyone else knows let me know. So if you have timezone offset installed and you changed this, change it back and add that code
well as time zone offset blew up in my face:lamo: i have no clue if that works so if someone does know, let everyone else know.
Have just downloaded what I believe to be all the relevant Japanese files... Not everything of course, but what I deemed to be necessary.
I am kinda new to this, so I think someone should first check them out...So if someone would do us all the honor and check them out I will send you a copy... Once they are ‘approved’ so to speak, I will upload them to Zen, if someone would be kind enough to tell me how and where to upload the zip file to..
One more thing about getting the email to work, you will need to add define('EMAIL_GREET', ','); to your checkout_process.php on the english side of things. I put a comma so it shows up like First Name Last Name, . if you don't do that, then it will put EMAIL_GREET after the name in your english emails.
As for the zip file, I think if we put one up, it should have everything in it. But just my thoughts. I might do it if I have time later.
I guess the previous post has some relevance to this question, but I am not sure...
Due to my limited Japanese, I was not aware of the following two problematic areas that have just been pointed out to me...
The first one is when a new account is created, the New Account Welcome message is sent out, but rather than use the family name and sama it uses the first name... (The English greeting appears to be fine: Dear Mr. Jones) I am told that I MUST change this to the family name and sama. How do I do this?
For the second one, I am not sure about the proper thing to do... When someone places a new order, a New Order Confirmation Email is sent out. Currently, just the persons name is written, with no honorific suffix... The English side seems alright to me, but I wonder if sama should be added to the Japanese... If so, how do I do it?
Thanks in advance!
Not to sound rude Peace Freak but what you are looking for is right above your post. you need to read post 48-your post and you should have all that you need. I would post this all agian if it was posted somewhere else but its right there.
after that let us know if you have anymore questions, would be glade to help out.
Really appreciate your input. I have of course read through all the posts but actually knowing what one needs is half the problem... I just installed your Japanese Address Order fix and it looks good. As I have been already messing around with address formatting with Dr. Byte’s assistance I did not use your particular format, though it mine is almost the same...
I am not having any problems with EMAIL_GREET in the English mails that are being sent out... The English emails being sent out, are properly formatted: Dear Mr. Jones.
It is the Japanese side that is about face... I have tried searching for files to edit from both the E side and the J side but have had no luck..
Basically, I have looked in the create_account.php (includes/languages/english/mytemplate but cannot work out how to change it... I believe this is the area that I need to edit:
// greeting salutation
define('EMAIL_SUBJECT', STORE_NAME . '?????');
define('EMAIL_GREET_MR', '%s ?' . "\n\n");
define('EMAIL_GREET_MS', '%s ?' . "\n\n");
define('EMAIL_GREET_NONE', '%s ?' . "\n\n");
In the Japanese side I believe I must change %s which currently calls up the first name, (yet calls up the last name on the English side) Perhaps I have something configured wrong, but I do not know where to go...
As for the Order Confirmation email lacking a samma, I found that checkout_process.php contains the relevant text but there does not seem to be anything connected to the persons name so I am not sure how to add samma into the code... Here is the code as it stands:
// $Id: checkout_process.php 1969 2005-09-13 06:57:21Z drbyte $
//
define('EMAIL_TEXT_SUBJECT', '??????????????');
define('EMAIL_TEXT_HEADER', '?????');
define('EMAIL_TEXT_FROM',' from '); //added to the EMAIL_TEXT_HEADER, above on text-only emails
define('EMAIL_THANKS_FOR_SHOPPING','??????????????');
define('EMAIL_DETAILS_FOLLOW','??????????????');
define('EMAIL_TEXT_ORDER_NUMBER', '?????:');
And here is a sample of what I see in the new order email:
????? from GPC Store
?? ??
??????????????
??????????????etc...

Look forward to hearing any suggestions...
You are not seeing question marks are you, thats just that you posted that in Japanese right. I am trying to get my head around your problem. I am going to send you a pm.
I will say one thing, I just relized that my invoces don't have Sama...man this Sama thing can drive someone crazy:yuck: , also if you use my order address format then you better live in Japan as it dosen't add Japan to it, b/c I live here. If you live outside, then you should change that so that it has Japan. But there are links in the download to tell you how to do that.
Pino, if you have a question could you post the question on this forum and that way everyone can see it, if you would like, email me a link to it and I will try to answer it, but I just started my site live and my vacation from my other job is up so I am kind of busy now. But I will try.
:wink2:
Thanks!
Those question marks are mostly kanji... Seems when I post it becomes unreadable...
Anyway, as you have now discovered the same Samma problem, I guess you don’t need my explanation for it...
As for the first name/last name thing lets hope we can work something out and post it for everyone...
I have set the Japanese address format to be almost the same as yours, but including Japan at the top...
Look forward to hearing from you...
well, the first and last name all work for me, have you downloaded the latest versions of the japanese pack, i have no problem with the order
I have discovered what the problem is with the Email Greeting being addressed to the First Name of the person. I messed around with all of what must have been 3 hours to no avail, when all of a sudden I looked at Admin/Customers/Customers and discovered that the data in the Last Name and First Name columns is reversed...
Under Last Name column all the first names are displayed, and visa-versa for the First Name column... EXCEPT that for any of the entries that were made in English, the order is correct...
I have no idea what I should do to fix this... for the names that are already in the database I can manually change the order, that is not a problem as there are not so many of them.
But how do I go about getting the Japanese name order to match the correct column from now on for new accounts that are made?
I am looking forward to any suggestions!
Its easy peasy, you just have to change the code to be the other way around.
Adding sama is easy too, you just have to add it as a define like all the others and add it to the relevant page(s).
You will need to do the same for your invoice too.
Thanks as always.
I am not sure what code I need to change to reverse things? Could you tell me what file I need to be working on and what within it I need to modify?
I think I have the sama thing worked out!
From what I understand, the emails that are sent out are based on HTML templates. The templates are located in: store/email
There is no multilingual support for them, so for bilingual sites, there is no solution...
godspeed27
I will say one thing, I just relized that my invoces don't have Sama...man this Sama thing can drive someone crazy:yuck:
:wink2:[/QUOTE]
Don't use HTML emails, just stay with text, at least thats what I am doing, also since a lot of people here use there cell phones for email, its not like html is really a good thing to use here as its harder for some cell phones to read.
i will get the sama thing worked out, i think this weekend, i can email you the files or something, i need to do the update too, but I don't want to. Going to have to do it first on a test site.
Hello,
why don't you just send me this zip file, Im gonna uploaded to my server and put link here.. so everybody can download easily without the firefox my mail: host_3lia [at} hot mail dot kom.
and I guess I can find solution for sama problem..but I need to see the translation files working.
Momo
Well the thing is, thats the Japanese zen cart teams file set, so to send you a zip file of it, someone would have to go through all the files downlaod them and then zip them, most of the people who are running the Japanese on their site have put it together as the go, also last time i checked it wasen't up to working to well w/ the new version out right now.
Hello poeple!
Just recently downloaded zen cart, but kinda having problems with the Japanese language pack. First i got a error message "MISSING FILES OR DIRECTORIES....Japanese/japanese..." but somehow i sorted it out and its dissappeared. On the store front i tried switching it to japanese but i get a message saying: "Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mb_language() in ....\shop\includes\languages\japanese.php on line 24".
Can some one please help! having sleepless nites with this error :no:
Hello.
You can download daily snapshot of Japanese Zen Cart from following URL;
http://www.zen-cart.jp/62.html#content_1_4
Thanks,
I've downloaded all the files from the https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/...l10n-jp/trunk/ link, but now I don;t know exactly what to do with them. I have previously installed the English version of Zen-Cart on my server, but I don;t know which of these JP files I should use, nor where to put them.
I have read all the messages, but I do not get a clear idea of whether, for the shop I am trying to set up here in Japan, which must be bilingual, I just need to add some language files, or should delete the English installation and install the completely Japanese one. Although most of my customers will be Japanese, i need to be able to do the administrative work in English. Any suggestions?
Not to steal a thread here, but there is an alternative Japanese pack up now.

Hi slightly off topic, but what payment gateways are used in Japan? In the UK I'm using Protx and I think http://www.econtext.co.jp might offer a similar service, but I can't read Japanese. Appreciate any suggestions! Thanks
