I have 3 sets of attributes set up with my cart. When the customer clicks "Add to Cart" it gives a completely blank screen, no "This page does not exist" or other messages, just a white screen. Unfortunately, we do have customers waiting to order and cannot, thus getting frustrated. Any idea what is causing this?

Almost appears as if you have some bad upload files ...
Try reloading all files in /includes/pages/shopping_cart
Also, you are using a default template of Classic ...
You should really be using your own templates and overrides system so that things do not get overwritten on an upgrade or update ...
It is difficult to test for the problem when we cannot have you change templates to determin if this is a template issue or something else ...
I reuploaded the requested files, yet still having issues. Exactly a week ago, I was tweaking shipping/payment modules but afterwards, everything was able to checkout. I also tweaked attributes, but did not install any new things that would prevent the shopping cart to work. Sometime over the weekend, my client emailed me and said it stopped working. I have been searching through the forums since.
I don't know how to create my own template, thought I probably should learn, so I appologize for that lack of help.
The latest thread I saw was http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35720 however, I found it not as helpful as I wanted.
Any other suggestions greatly appreciated :)
Do you have something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com where you can do an FTP compare of a Clean Zen Cart and your copy on the site and see where something could be ... umm ... perhaps a little ...a ... fried? :blink:
What exactly should I be looking for? I downloaded that software, and once I run the comparison of a very clean version of Zen Cart against my ftp site, every folder comes up red (which in my mind would appear everything has been changed). I have reuploaded a clean copy of the shipping modules and in the "pages" section, anything that had to do with the Shopping Cart (i.e. checkout_confirmation, info_shopping_cart, etc).
What files specifically handle the "Add to Cart" function and what effect would a wholesale module downloaded from this site have on this? Immediately after the wholesale module was added, I was able to order tagging someone who would buy wholesale. Their order went smoothly as a test. The specific wholesale module I am using is: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33439 (Dual Pricing Version 2). Since then, all I have done is added option values and names under the attributes controller. Initially, I had one available option name with about 25-30 values, now I have 3 option names with over 60 values spread between them.
I appologize for being such a newb with Zen Cart, just trying to give you the whole spectrum of the issue. Thanks again for your help :)
When I used the developer's tool kit (love it btw!) to search for "Add to Cart" feature, here is every instance of it in my files. Does any of this help?

Hi,
I'm having the exact same problems. Add to Cart brings me to a blank screen. In fact, Write a Review and Tell a Friend also brings me to a blank screen. Tried doing a search but it seems that not many have this problem.
I've already switched back to Classic template and it doesn't work there as well. Also enabled COD, still nothing.
I'm pretty new to this. Can anybody have any suggestions? I'm using PHP Version: 5.1.6 (Zend: 2.1.0), Zen Cart 1.3.5.

EDITED: Never, ever post the zen_id or zenAdminID (session id) in a forum, email, newsgroup, newsletter, advertisement, etc. etc. etc. or you will be doomed ... :eek:
Can you check your error logs to see if there are any entries there?
Were you able to fix this? I am not getting blank pages when I add to cart ...

Could you check your Configuration ... Session Settings ...
And set them to:

The Session settings are correct...still nothing.
hmm...when I changed "Shopping Cart Box Status" to always true and I click on the shopping cart box, it brings me to the cart correctly.
However, when I click buy now, or add to cart, it still brings me to a blank page. Pressing the back button on the browser though, my cart correctly added the item. And when I click on shopping cart, the item is correctly reflected. Clicking on Checkout throws me to another blank page.
I also noticed that with a full shopping cart, if I click on the links in the products category, the cart is correctly reflected. But when I click on home, or the page logo, the cart gets mysteriously emptied.
Home I making sense. :unsure: Any help?

Delete from the server and Reload the files:
/includes/classes/shopping_cart.php
/includes/init_includes/init_cart_handler.php
/includes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/*.*
/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_shopping_cart.php
/includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php
Look to see if you have overrides on any of these files and for now rename them, example:
/includes/templates/your_template_dir/templates/tpl_shopping_cart.php_HIDDEN
/includes/languages/english/your_template_dir/shopping_cart.php_HIDDEN
etc. etc. etc.
Changing to Classic template still gives the same problem. I also upgraded to V1.3.6 but made no difference.
Can I confirm when you say reload the files, you mean download the whole Zen Cart, find the files, and ftp them individually to the server? Or is it something I do within the admin console? Sorry if it's a dumb question because I got Zen Cart from my hosting company and it was installed through Fantastico, so I never unpacked any files myself.

Download from our site the Zen Cart v1.3.6 from the Download link at the top of your screen ... :smile:
Then, delete/rename any of the files I listed and reload them to your site via a good FTP program ... as in nothing to do with your Control Panel ...
Some files, when broken, bad, corrupt, missing etc. do not throw errors but rather produce dead pages ...
I can add to cart ... get white page ... backup ... and the product will be in my cart ...
So ... part of this is working and part is not ...
Note: you have no prices ...
Your checkout is broken ...
Your add to cart is broken ...
What version Zen Cart were you before you upgrade?
You did upgrade to v1.3.6 by loading all files to the site via FTP and running the /zc_install and UPGRADE your database, correct?
You appear to have more issues than just not being able to add to the cart ...
I was at 1.3.5 previously. I upgraded through the "upgrade" option from Fantastico.
It's not just my cart and checkout that is broken, but tell a friend and write a review gives me a blank page as well...

collection is a new page that I've been trying to add into the "information" sidebox, but somehow even though it appears in page editor, it doesn't appear in the website...
i reloaded the files and still same problem. I noticed that my main page got wiped though, not sure how that happened. I only reloaded the shopping cart pages that you listed...
hmm...i got everything working by completely uninstalling Zen Cart from Fantastico and reinstalling everything :cool: now i gotta do everything again, but i guess it's worth it.
i guess one of the 2 must have happened:
1) i messed up big time while trying to customize the store :blush:
2) the hosting company upgraded to 1.3.6 while i was installing 1.3.5 and something got mixed up
What you will want to do in the future is not use Fantastico to upgrade a site ...
It is fine for a quick install of Zen Cart to see what it is all about ... but it is really best to manage the site on your own and know exactly what is going to happen where ...
If you never change any files on your site ... there shouldn't be anything that an automated upgraded should break ... however ... even automated programs can have a glitch every now and then ... so be very careful in ever trying to use one ... especially on a Live Site ...
Hello. I know this is an old post but I am facing a similar problem with the add to cart giving me a blank white screen.
I am using version 1.3.8a and while the add to cart works properly when I load the classic templates it doesn't work in my custom template.
When using the error logging tool, i get this message:
