Track Package from FedEx, UPS, Postal, DHL, etc..

I am please to announce that I have finally completed Ty Package Tracker v2.0.
New in this version:
-There is a separate sidebox that show the customers past orders. Customer can track their orders from the sidebox or from the "My Account" page.
-Configurations are done in the Admin Page. You may have up to 5 different carriers. You can change, add, or turn off carrier from this page.
-Mod has been completely redone. It does not overwrite any files.
-Mod can be easily intergrate to work with the Super Orders mod.

This version is a beta version. I have tested it on my site and it seems to work fine. I would like other people to test the beta version before I make it public.

Everything seems perfect, except the heading of "Date Added | Status | Tracking ID | Comments" and the Tracking ID's content don't show up at all at customer account's Status History & Comments.

Am I missing something? I am using Z 126 with Ty 126b

Hi Ty,

I just installed the latest update to your mod. I am having a problem with the filenames. In admin when you try to access the tracking via customers, the last option shows BOX_CUSTOMERS_TRACK. If you click on the link you get logged out of admin. The box on the index page has a missing define as well. The heading on the sidebox reads: BOX_HEADING_TRACK_ORDERS. I don't know if I missed something or not. I have gone over the files a few times and I can't find anything I missed.
Any idea what the problem could be? BTW I have the latet version of ZenCart installed.

Looks like you are missing a few files.
Go to Admin->Tools->Developers Tool Kit
and search for file BOX_CUSTOMERS_TRACK.
See if it is on your server.

By default, the setting is located at
/admin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes/ty_package_tracker_customers_dhtml.php
/admin/includes/extra_datafiles/ty_package_tracker.php
If you rename the folder admin to something else, you must also rename the folder in this module.

Go to Admin->Tools->Developers Tool Kit
and search for file BOX_HEADING_TRACK_ORDERS
By default, the setting is located at
/includes/extra_datafiles/ty_package_tracker.php

I just typed a nice long detailed response to your reply and when I hit submit reply, I got a page cannot be displayed and it was lost. So...bottom line, the site I added the package tracking to is 1.3.0.1. I used your version V2.1a
I looked up the constants and they are showing but possibly in the wrong place. I will check them again and possibly reinstall the contribution.

This is a nice module, I do have just 1 question to ask and that is how do you change the shipping company within the Admin Area when you enter the tracking number?
I'm just showing shipping company 1 not the rest I have listed.

This bug was found on the beta version but the updated version fixed the bug.

Ty_Package_Tracker v1.3 does not have the capibility to add/change the tracking carrier from Admin. This feature was added to Ty_Package_Tracker v2.1.

To change the carrier on Ty_Package_Tracker v1.3, you will have to edit 2 files. The name of the files and instructions to change it are located in the README file.

Does anyone know where I can find the file to edit the text for the email the customer receives when you update the tracking number?

I tried using Developers Tool Kit and no luck locating any of the text from the email.

The New Staus doesn't show up in my emails. Before I loaded this module I had to change email_template_order_status.html because it was showing the new status twice i.e. New Status: Shipped Shipped

I changed: <div>$EMAIL_TEXT_STATUS_LABEL $EMAIL_TEXT_NEW_STATUS</div>
To: <div>$EMAIL_TEXT_STATUS_LABEL</div> and it solved that problem but now it is gone.

i loved how it was before, dont need to go to an other menu.
now when i show an order , it did not display the tracking
i have to go to ty package to see all the tracking.

I am using Zen Cart 1.3.2 and Tracker 2.1, any clue why email are being sent looking like this? Why is the code showing? Thanks for any assistance.

It looks like you are missing the file:
admin/includes/languages/english/ty_package_tracker.php

If you renamed the folder admin to something else, make sure you also rename the admin folder in the my tracking package.

2 reasons:
- The current version is completely independant and does not required overwriting any files.
- On previous versions, I'd have to examine and update my codes if ZenCart or Super Order module updated their codes.

That was it!! So glad you can recognize things. Was about ready to learn PHP for this. Any clue as to why I am getting a double url in the confirmation email? The intial order confirmation email is correct but the updated tracker confirmation url shows twice. I am not sure if this is a Zen Cart or the tracker issue as I do not see anything that would change emails in the tracker code but I really do not know where to look in the Zen Cart code. I posted in another thread to try and find out but still not sure.

Your tracking link by item number search for EMS service is

The setting and link can be added under Admin->Configuration->Ty_Package_Tracker.

I have not tested out the other service. To find the tracking link for the other service, try this:
1. Go to http://tracking.post.japanpost.jp/se....jsp?locale=en
2. Enter the service and enter the item number.
3. Copy the link in your address bar.
4. Shorten the tracking link by removing any extra value. There all lots for are extra values.
5. Refer to the tracking link above. It seems that, the Japanese Postal require 2 values in order to track (searchKind and reqCodeNo1).

I am ready to do some minor updates to the mod.
So far I haven't notice any major bugs yet.

If you discover any bugs, please inform me. Since I haven't gotten much questions on this forum, I am assuming everything is running smoothly. (or nobody is using the mod. lol)

I just installed another cart, using 1.3.5. This mod is the first I've tried to install, and so far no go. The admin side works fine, but not the catalog side. I've checked and rechecked that files are installed in the proper directory, including my custom template (which, to now, is just the classic in a renamed directory). Under the catalog side in the my account page, instead of the ty_package_tracker page being called, the main_page_account_history_+info page is being called.
Does this mod work with 1.3.5 and/or does anyone have any ideas on what I might have missed?

Okay, there used to be a bug in Zen Cart where when order update is sent, it will show New Status twice. Ty Package tracker fixed this.

However in 1.3.5 this bug has been fixed and not Ty Package tracker is broken because when a Status Update is emailed using Ty Package tracker the New Status is blank in the email sent to customer without any update showing i.e. Cancelled, Shipped, etc.

Thanks for finding the bug. You are correct. On html emails, the status will be blank. Text e-mails are not affected. I will fix it in the next update. This is an easy fix. If you want to fix it now, you need to edit the file admin/ty_package_tracker.php

Look for the following 3 lines (line 114-116)

This fix should ONLY be use if you are running Zencart 1.3.5. Do not use the code on version 1.3.0.2 (or earlier) or else you will get the double status as noted above.

A new update was added to the download section for Zencart 1.3.5. This version will also work with Zencart 1.3.0 or later.

The fixes are:
1. Rename files from ty_package_tracker.php to tracker.php.
The php files were rename to make it more User Friendly.

2. Fixed the blank New Status on html e-mails.
On ZC 1.3.5 html emails, the new status will show a blank status. Text emails were unafffected.

3. Moved Tracking ID info to comment box for Customer Order History. (Admin unchanged.)
We have people complainting the Status History & Comments section was overlapping or stretching too far right. The tracking id column was removed and will be display in the comment box. This should minimize the problem.

4. Email text changed.
The wording was slightly changed. To customize the e-mail, edit the files in admin/tracker.php Edit the TY2 BEGIN section (line 87-97).

Any idea what is causing either of this?

By the screenshots, I can see that you are missing the
/admin/includes/languages/english/tracker.php file

The submit buttons should show up. My guess is that the file on your web server is incomplete file (probably due to FTP). FTP the files from the module to your server again and overwrite the old files.

It seems UPS has changed their tracking url. Clicking on the tracking number no longer pre-fills the number into the UPS website. Has anyone figured out the new url format for this to work?

edit: I found a recent UPS email that had the format. Plug this into Admin>config>ty package tracker

ALWAYS back up the database before upgrading.

The tracking information is saved in the database. If you do the upgrade correctly, all your orders, customers info, products, etc... and tracking id should carry over to the new version.

When you install this add-on and execute the SQL query it messes up the attributes.

If you have a text attribute and mark it as required, it still lets users continue to the cart without typing anything in..

I know for a fact it is this addon because i had to start from scratch again and once I executed the SQL I was unable to receive an error when no text was entered in the text attribute

Please let me know if this can be fixed because i really do love this addon!!!

Thanks for finding the bug. I reviewed the sql code and the database and found out that 3 fields were accidentally removed.
To fix the bug, you should BACKUP your database and then run the following 3 statements in Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches

This means that the 3 missing fields already exist in your database. If you get the above error, you can ignore the error since the fields already exist. Your required text should be working. If not let me know.

The new uploaded version does not have the database problem. So if you are installing a Fresh version (not upgrading from a previous version), you do not have to worry about the problem. For those user that have previous versions of the Tracker mod, all you have to do is run the 3 statements from the above post.

Okay I'm using v1.3.5, this will work fine with it right? I really really would love this module. I read that it's in the downloads section, and you just now put the bug fixed one over there right? I'll post how it runs after I install it. I do have alot of other mods, so hopefully none conflict with this one. :laugh:

Okay it works now I had to reinstall the package though. It wouldn't let me insert those 3 commands, when I did it gave me the error they already existed (and the problem persisted) once I uploaded my backup database I used the new Fresh Install that you just uploaded and it works great. The first value for each field should be blank.

Installed the module it's great. However just having a little problem with UPS. The link that is generated does go to UPS but even with an invalid tracking number I receive no error that that number is invalid just a screen to input tracking numbers and a check box that must be checked in order for UPS to track a number. Hope I explained it correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To update the link, Go to
Admin->Configuration->Ty_Package_Tracker to configure settings.

By default, UPS is Carrier 2. Change the Carrier 2 tracking link and it should work.

FYI - for whatever reason, despite using the SQL patch, the fields "track_id1" through "track_id5" never got added to the DB - but the configuration stuff was.

I added them manually through PHPMyAdmin to order_status_history, and it works fine now - but just thought you might like to know in case it comes us again.

great mod. however im wondering how i change the code that edits an order with super orders.

im using super orders 2.0 and it nows edits with super_orders.php, which i changed in the tracker.php file.

but i still need to change it to add action=edit after the order number.

can you please help.

In upgrading to the new version, I now have two menu items under "customers" in the admin that say "Add Tracking ID". Both go to the old ty_package_tracker file. Where can I fix this, and can I remove the Old file names?

you will need to remove them from your database, look at your sql file to see where they are located and remove one from your customers file menu.

to change the corrisponding file to load, you prolly need to edit one of the files themself. checkout the files that came with the modual, and also look close at the sql file...

you should be able to figgure it out from there.

One of the Add Tracking ID was an old file. This should be located in the admin\includes\boxes\extra_boxes\
You can delete the ty_package_tracker.php. Leave the new file, "tracker.php".
Read the readme file for a complete list of files that can be deleted safely.

anyone else having an issue with the tracking links that go to ups.com?

it seems that they dont work fully.

when i click on the link it takes me to the tracking page, however it wants me to enter the tracking number to actualy track it.

by the looks of the link its tring to give the site its tracking number however its not working..

You will find similar blocks of coding in both tracker and super order module since both are base off of orders.php.
Compare tracker.php with orders.php to find the codes that was added. Migrate these changes to super_orders.php and it should work fine.

I myself use tracker.php and if I need to edit anything, I click on the edit button and that brings up super_orders.php. So if you want to eliminate the extra step, you will have to customize the file.

Quick question for you: are there any plans to adding a "batch add tracking id" to the mod? Similar to the "batch status update" for Super orders, except for tracking ID's instead.. where you can put a tracking id per line for each order. Thanks!

installed this to an upgraded Zen site 1.2.3 to 1.3.5 I see Ty Package Tracker under admin>configuration but don't have a link under "customers" for tracking i.d.

make sure all the files were uploaded.. sounds like a file may be missing

You are missing admin files.

If you renamed your admin folder on your server, make sure you also rename the admin folder from the downloaded module.

I updated the tracking link but the old link is still showing whenever I send out notices to customers... any reason why it's not updating??

The new link did not get updated.
You must of forgot to click the update button or it's an old e-mail.

hi all!

still new to zen cart but overall i find it to be very easy to use. and works very well!

this ty tracker is an absolute gem! i got it working but have one problem.

the emails are not sent to the customer. i just installed everything last week so i presume i have all the latest versions.

when i updated the orders to "delivered", the customer receives this email but not the tracking id. i tested a few times and true enough, no tracking id email was sent out at all.

any ideas?

question.. haven't looked too much at the uninstall script and the way it saves the tracking numbers.. so please forgive my 'noobness' to it :)

Lets say I install the Ty Package Tracker on my live site.. and update 10 orders with their tracking ID. Then, for some strange reason I decide I no longer want to use the Ty Package Tracker and uninstall it. Would those 10 orders still have their Tracking ID in place.. or would they be removed? The reason I ask is because when you look at it it looks like a regular status update.. so its got me confused. Thanks!

NVM, found my answer. It does remove it, since it creates new fields for the tracking ID. Thats why theres a separate "tracker" page as well.. or else it would have used the regular account_history page and shown it

I installed Ty package tracker versin 2.2b (zencart version is 1.35) i uploaded all files , and also uploaded the sql file, and now my site comes up with
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class base in includes/classes/class.base.php on line 17, can someone tell me whats wrong? before i installed the contrib my site was working just fine, but now when i visit the homepage , the above error is all that comes up. In admin>config>ty tracker i can view carrier url's etc, but that is it, im new to this could someone please help me.... thanks in advance!

I haven't seen this problem before and am not sure where to look. Did you install any other mods before or after you install the tracker mod? Did you customize or made changes to any other files ?

Whenever I click on "edit" button, I got a blank page with only "cancel" and "submit" buttons showing.

Can someone tell me why this is happening?

Tried this fix, still getting the same error. By the way, IE7's error message says:
'window.opener.location' is null or not an object

Am I doing something wrong again?

out of curiosity.. does anyone know what query I would use to copy stuff thats in the tracking field to the comment field? I'd like to be able to go in every 2 weeks and sync the data. i know it shouldn't be too hard but I'm not a mysql expert :P

The tracking information is stored in the orders status history table. It is not possible to move the tracking id to the comment box and have the tracker work properly.

Note: The tracking id are displayed in the comment box at the account_history page but the tracking id is NOT store in the comment box.

thanks for the info - i know that the tracking ID wouldn't work in the comments box as a link, but maybe just the value itself? oh well.. its not too important now that i think about it.. don't know what i was thinking last night :P

I just installed the package tracker mod and to test it i added the tracking number to an existing order. I get the error: "Warning: Nothing to change. The order was not updated." and it doesnt list the tracking number. I am sure that this is a stupid mistake on my part, but can somebody help?

This is a safety precaution.
When you add the tracking number, you must also either change the order status or add a comment.

Try also writing something in the status box, like, "order shipped".
