Salemaker Not applying to all products
I seem to be having some technical difficulties with salemaker. I tried to set up a sale for specific products (paper and cardstock) in a select price range ($0.55 to $0.75) but instead of making all paper and cardstock on sale it seemed to pick and choose and only listed some of them on sale.
So I edited it and selected entire catalog (since paper and cardstock are the only items in that price range) figuring this would correct the problem but that didn't work either.
I then deleted the sale and created a new one trying both ways again and that didn't work.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong since the other sales are appearing fine. I've even rebooted my computer just in case it's something on my end. Any suggestions?

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
I think I figured out a way to work around the system. Found a post from Jstuff under the wishlist, so I just changed the Master category on all the products that needed to be on sale but salemaker wasn't putting them on sale. It's a temp fix but at least it'll work :)
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
If you are importing products ... most import programs do not manage the Master Categories ID correctly ...
The master_categories_id controls the pricing for things like Sale Maker ...
When a Product is Linked ... the master_categories_id needs to be the Category that "owns" the Product so when put on Sale, it will reflect the price properly regardless of where or how the Product is displayed ...
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
So, how do I fix it so that sale maker works with all my items?
For some reason it just adds the sale to the first item in each category that I selected.
I am new to zen cart. I just switched from osc last week and imported all my products. (I'm also fairly new with php and sql.)
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Corinne

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
If you look at your database at the products table via phpMyAdmin ...
Do all of your products have set both the:
products_type
master_categories_id
If not, do you use Linked Products?
If not, you can fix the master_categories_id with the Tools ... Store Manager ...
Quote:
Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID
to be used for Linked Products and Pricing:
click Reset ...
Then, fix the products_price_sorter from the Tools ... Store Manager ...
Quote:
Update ALL Products Price Sorter
to be able to sort by displayed prices:
click Update ...
The Products Price Sorter cannot be fixed until *after* the master_categories_id is set ...
WARNING: before attempting anything ... backup your database
NOTE: if you do not have products_type set on your products, this should be fixed before doing anything ...

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Worked beautifully!
Thank you!!!!

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
You are most welcome ... thanks for the update ...
Note: there are many differences in Zen Cart from osC ... be sure to test *everything* from start to finish to make sure that your database has been updated correctly for all of the new database tables, fields, features, etc.

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Look in your database at the products table and find products_id 1139
What is the master_categories_id set to?
What version of Zen Cart are you running?
Clean install or an upgrade? If an upgrade from what version and how did you do the upgrade?

It was a clean installed version.
I try to update any bugs as frequently as possible, but since this is a modifyed version i must do all of these bug update "modifications" manually..
By the way.. sorry abt my late reply.. (was out of town for a few days)

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
What are the exact settings in Sale Maker that you are using?
What happens if you switch to Classic?
What happens if you turn off the SEO stuff?
Are all the Products in categories_id 67 setup with that Category as the master_categories_id
Does this mean you did a full upgrade to something?

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
I am thinking that a good test might be to create a new database and load a copy of your database into it ...
Then load a clean copy of Zen Cart v1.3.7 into a subdirectory such as:
/test_shop
Then copy your 2 configure.php files
/includes/configure.php
/admin/includes/configure.php
Change the paths and database name, username and password to match this new directory and new database ...
Login to the Admin and change to Classic Template ... and turn off the setting for SEO as it is not in this code ...
And see what the Sale Prices do ...
Something appears off on your site and I don't know if there is code out of date, an add-on or what affecting things as this isn't making logical sense based on what you have said so far ...

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
i hope this is the right post but i have a HUGE problem and need to solve it ASAP...
our sale goes on RIGHT now but... for some reason, it ignores the scents...
it's sopposed to work this way...
Scent is free anyway... the product is priced by attribute and i have :atribute discounted to "ON"
but it does NOT peflect the salesmaker... the 10% off are NOT applied to the options as it is supposed to be...:censored:
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Found solution...
need to set "Include in Base Price When Priced by Attributes" to "ON" as well.:smartalec:

:frusty: now, it shows it but, when you add it to the cart, it doesn't work. it's still the non-sale price then.:censored:
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
ok. this is wierd...
Product: Cherubs is 0.00 and priced by atributes - the options (small or large) is priced. THIS works...
Product: (eg., but affects all scents) Almond is 0.00 and priced by attributes - the option (candle types) are priced. It shows (correctly) 10% off BUT it is NOT applied when you add it to the cart....
I have applied the SAME settings to both products. i need help:dontgetit:
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Do you use linked Products?
What is the master_categories_id?
Are you using Salemaker for the 10% off?
Is the Category on Sale the same as the master_categories_id for this product?
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Also are the attributes marked to use the Sale or Special price?
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
these are linked products
I set the master categories to to be the sale category
Salemaker is set to 10% off, price range 0.00 - 0.00, Specials Condition: Ignore Specials Price - Apply to Product Price and Replace Special
Master category ID#29
Product: priced by attribute - YES
Attribute: Apply Discounts Used by Product Special/Sale: YES
Include in Base Price When Priced by Attributes: YES
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Try this setting:
Apply SaleDeduction to Specials Price - Otherwise Apply to Price

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Even though i changed the master_category of the products that i copied into the christmas category to BE the christmas category the error i had was there... NOW... just for laughs, i included the "all scents a-z" category into the sale... and NOW the sale IS as it is supposed to be... does that indicate something?
I don't want to have ALL scents in the sale ONLY the ones that are listed in the sale category.

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Salemaker is not quite working as I'd expected. I've created two sales:
15% off
Quote:
Date Added: 09/04/2007
Last Modified: 09/12/2007
Last Status Change: 09/04/2007
Deduction: 15.0000 Percent
Pricerange: $0.00 to $0.00
Specials Condition: Ignore Specials Price - Apply to Product Price and Replace Special
Starts: 09/11/2007
Expires: Never
and... 20% off
Quote:
Date Added: 09/12/2007

Deduction: 20.0000 Percent
Pricerange: $0.00 to $0.00
Specials Condition: Ignore Specials Price - Apply to Product Price and Replace Special
Starts: 09/12/2007
Expires: Never
The 15% off was the original sale and worked fine when applied to all product categories (I have since messed with the 'Starts' dates in my troubleshooting steps). Interestingly, salemaker did not work when I tried selecting 'Entire catalog'.
I then tried to apply the 20% off sale to a specific subcategory (let's call it SubCategory_1 within Category_A)... no effect at all.
... then in the 15% sale I deselected Category_A and selected all SubCategories except SubCategory_1. In 20% sale I selected SubCategory_1... no effect.
... then I tried multiple permutations of start sale dates to see if it had any overriding effects... nope.
I have tried with SEO_urls on and off... no effect.
I have clicked 'Update ALL Products Price Sorter' & 'Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID' between each attempt... no effect. I also cleared my Firefox cache.
I have no linked products.
I am running:
Zen Cart 1.3.7.1
PHP Version 4.4.7
MySQL 5.0.27-standard
Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Sorry if this is a duplicate response, but don't have time to read them all.
I applied Salemaker to my whole catalog, but had some random products that were not applying to. No other products had any other specials, sales or anything.
But, after performing the following (non-logical) procedures, the sale applied to each one. (happened by chance)
I edited the product and cancelled. Then I clicked on the Products Price Manager (round green icon with white dollar sign), then (without making any changes) clicked the Back browser button. Then I edited the product and cancelled again. And walla! The Sale applied! Yay!
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
I had this problem also with sale price applying to some products and not others (seemingly randomly). As Ajeh has said a number of times through this thread, it turned out the problem was caused because some products had no master category id. Not sure why, perhaps something to do with an easy populate upload.
For me, the easiest way to fix was to go to the multiple category link manager (where you can link a product to more than one category - accessed when you copy a product). Right at the bottom of this screen is an option to reset the master category id for all products in that category. Once I did this for each category that I wanted to put on sale, problem solved.
cheers

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
This worked for me as well. (reset master categories).
Specifically our problem related to creating new products via Easy Populate. When this was done, the new products were ignored via Sale Maker. Resetting the master category solved this and now the sale is on all products in the category.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Thanks for the update ...
Sale Maker needs that master_categories_id to verify the Sale of a Product for those Category settings ...
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
How does product linking affect this?
All products are in one category and then copied to other categories. Placing one category on sale - not the master category - seems to have no effect.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Hey, I had the same issue and it worked for me fine - thanks
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
K, I've read through all this, I'm having the same problem and I still can't get it to work. I have each designer/manufacturer set up as a master category ID. Then we have just regular categories that all products are linked to one or more of. All of our products have one of the designers as their master category. I'm trying to set up a sale on a specific category (digital kits) on sale and it isn't showing up. All products in the digital kits category are linked to a master id of whoever the designer/manufacturer is.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
SaleMaker uses the master_categories_id for the Sales ... since the master_categories_id of your products belong to your Designers when you try to put a Mixed Category on Sale, none of the Products use it as the master_categories_id ...
So, the Sale is never applied ...
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
You would have to either re-write how SaleMaker works ... or set those Products to use the Sale Category as the master_categories_id ...
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
hmmm, I know at the other store I sell at, the designers are the master category ID there, but the storewide sales there work.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
You might check the other store and see if there are customizations to the code that allow for that ...
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
So then, I guess I'm confused at why all the other categories show up under sale maker if checking them doesn't do anything. She said she didn't do any customization at the other store and I've verified that my folder tree for categories is set up the same as hers.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
What versions of Zen Cart are you using on the sites?
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
mine is 1.3.9
hers is 1.3.8
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
v1.3.8 had bugs in it causing issues once of which was SaleMaker and not managing it as designed ...
That it the only thing I can think of that is causing this issue to work on her site when it should not and other issues can compound there using the old, out dated code of v1.3.8 with all of the bugs and security issues in it ...
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
SO, I guess my other question still stands, why do all the categories show under SaleMaker if clicking on them doesn't do anything?
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
I am not fully understanding your question ...
If you mean why when you create a Sale that you can see all Categories as possible choices ... it is because you get to choose what Category you want on Sale ...
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
But if I choose a category that is anything other than the Designers names that are set up as the master, it doesn't work.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Don't chose that Category then ...
Sale Maker is made so you can pick any Categories that you want to put on Sale ...
You make the choice of which ones ...
The Rule is, then apply the Sale to the chosen Category on the condition the Product is using that Category as its master_categories_id ...
There is no way for the code to "know" what you are "thinking" when you build Sales ...
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
I guess I'm confused still. All of my designers are set up as master categories. All of the different types of products are set up as linked categories. It is a digital scrapbook store. So, we have categories like digital kits, templates, word art, babies, children, teens, Summer, Thanksgiving, just to name a few. They are all just regular categories.
If I want to do a sale on everything in the store from every designer that is a word art, if I go to SaleMaker and click the Word Art category box, the sale doesn't work.
What am I missing here?
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
K, I don't know if this helps at all or if you can even see this. This is what my sales screen looks like (I cut out and edited it so it isn't so long) I have my sale set up for all Commercial Use products to be on sale, but none of them are showing up on sale in the store. From our previous conversation, I believe that is because Commercial Use products is not a master category, just a linked category, down further you can see the Manufacturers all listed and they are all set up as master categories, but I don't want their whole stores on sale, just the Commercial Use products of all manufacturers. Is this possible?

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
If you were to put a designer category on Sale, then the Sale would show in whatever Category it appears in as that is the master_categories_id ...
If you put on of the other Categories on Sale, it would not show as it is *not* the master_categories_id ...
If you wanted any Product in a Category like Thanksgiving on Sale, you would need to change the master_categories_id for those Products to use the Thanksgiving Category as its master_categories_id ... after the Sale, you could then change the master_categories_id back to the specific designers Category ...
-

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
The easiest way to fix the salemaker is to go to the store manager, and click the reset button for the Master categories ID. If your products are loaded by an IT company such as mine are, your it guy may have become lazy and just never loaded the master category id, or somehow, the field did not populate correctly. This will reset, and populate it so that zen "sees" the product again, and can apply a sale to those items.
It does work on 1.5.1, and on older versions. I just did this because an entire supplier's products would not launch sales applied to the whole store, and the other 2 supplier's merchandise already had the ability to have the sales added.
I was going nuts trying to figure this out, and finally figured it out. I found a solution online, and it worked great..
Good Luck.. Don't let the inventory companies employees that have sales sites trick you.. Look in the forums, you will eventually find a solution!:D

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Sorry to bring up an old thread but my store isn't doing this right either and I have reset the master categories. It shows the correct price until added to cart! I am clueless as to what is happening. Store url is www..bootsandmore..net

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Do you have some specific products_id that are doing this?
If you edit the product(s) ...
what are their prices?
what shows as master_categories_id
are they on sale?
If you go to phpMyAdmin and brows the table:
products
and search for these products_id what categories_id come up on them?

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
it's sporadic it works on the boots but not the Carhartt clothing. If you'll look at the store (link above) you'll see what I mean. Carhartt shows right price but with attributes as 3XL being $2 extra It doesn't carry over it works with attributes that do not have a price added to them.
Sale maker should be simple to use. Zen cart is easy to use but SaleMaker has lost us sales with this new sale we are having.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
What are your settings on SaleMaker for Carhartt Shirts category?
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
$2.00 of shirts and a one time fee applied to 3XL
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
What are your specific settings on SaleMaker?
I am assuming the Products are Priced as displayed and not marked Price by Attribute ...
Could you give some specific products_id and what the specific prices are on the Attributes?
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Sale is over with now so no harm done. Next one I will post and give more specifics. Thanks though.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
I can't get the sale discount to be applied to all the attributes. I have one item that's priced higher on the larger sizes, and it isn't being discounted. All the smaller sizes are being discounted properly but not the larger ones that are higher priced. The attributes are set up correctly as far as I'm able to tell, since it's been working all along. Customers have been able to choose the size they wanted and were charged the correct price.
I've read through all the posts here and don't see anything that pertains to my situation. The product isn't linked.

Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Zen 1.55f condition causing two problems:
1 - Admin is unable to search for products_model: VG-GP300-100, VG-GP300-254 however it does return VG-GP300-099
2 - Live site is not displaying SaleMaker discounts on the product category/group for Series 300 beyond 99+ products (300 products in category)
Solution:
Reset Master Categories ID with Tools > Store Manager
More details...
Site has multiple categories, sub-categories and a lot of products.
SaleMaker was applied to one of the top categories - 300 Series.
SaleMaker discount is applied to 0 - 99 products in the category but NOT applied to the 100th product.
It happens that the products_model lines up the problem in the last digit series. This was helpful in proving a database problem as the admin search would NOT find the product but WOULD find the product on the live site search AND the product could be found when drilling down through the admin category product listing.
Somehow some of the products created at various dates and times in the past 2 years, moved changed etc by the client appear to have lost their way in the database causing the corruption.
Resetting the Master Categories ID corrected the problem for now.
-
Re: Salemaker Not applying to all products
Update, research has found that Easy Populate has been adding new products with corrupt master category ID data. SaleMaker and the Admin search are now running correctly after resetting the ID's.

Thank you very much for bringing this topic to life and helping to solve the problem!
