Terve,
I think the best way to get a Finnish language pack is to start contacting the Finnish Zen Cart shops, and kindly ask them to give something back to the community by sharing it with us here in some way.
A search for Zen Cart at www.fi will give a lot of hits to Zen Cart shops having Finnish language:
http://www.fi/WebSearch?advancedPage...yFiletype=true
Myself, I'm not so good in Finnish yet - if not I should have help you making this pack.
i have also tried to look for any finnish languagepack for version 1.3.0.1
could someone please help...
My dog is Finnish, but he was born in CA. His Finnish is a bit rusty, so I don't think he will be of much use.
Sorry, I couldn't resist! (My dog truly is Finnish :)
Hi,
I have made a language pack in Finnish in 2004 (can be found in the old contributions archive)
Currently I am working on updateing it (actually just yesterday I got the client side ready, will work on the admin side next week).
Keep an eye on the download section!
Also a bit OT. but I am working on the finnish bank modules again.
i am waiting for your new language pack also! Hope you get it soon? If not, let us now so I can try to make it myself..
Ja sama suomeksi.. :):laugh:
I'm also waiting. Can I help somehow? Is it going to be ready this week, next week...?
Status update (since I've been getting a lot of email on this subject):
Client side is already translated (spent yesterday updating it to 1.3.6)
Admin side is about 50% done ... but there are lot of things to check as some of the terms used do not/are very hard to bend to Finnish ...
I am in the process of finalizing a shop for a client (which was meant to be online today but it isn't) so I have been/will be busy getting it ready for the next few days.
I will work on the translation later this week... expect it to be "beta" ready next week, after which I wish people could check it and report all errors to me :)
In the meanwhile if someone could translate the client side image buttons in the template_default it'd be cool ;)
Ok... how do I translate buttons? :lookaroun Is it enough if I write the right words or do I have to make new pictures somehow?
Ok... anything easier for me? I got english text away from button but don't know how to make the finnish text look the same.
Some really smart could tell me how to translate "SINGLE COLUMN" in the layout box controller..... it just doesn't bend smoothly to Finnish :\
If I knew what kind of function it is... :P Yksittäinen palsta?
I have now crafted a list of files in need of translation...
I will not release any files I have done before (almost) all of the following files have been translated...

// Translated by Oma Nimi <[email protected]>
niin menee kunnia sille jolle se kuuluu.... muussa tapauksessa isken oman nimeni siihen tiedostoon ;)
Mulla on vähän kiireitä seuraavat 4 päivää enkä kerkeekkään kääntämään noita ennen ens viikkoa, joten saatte suomenkielen zen carttiin mitä nopeemmin saatte noita tiedostoja käännettyä.
Nyt siirryn tirsamaahan...
Good night and good luck!
I can try these:
products_price_manager.php
specials.php
template_select.php
whos_online.php
What word have you used of 'Attributes' and 'Templates' so my translation will look the same as yours? :)
Bit off-topic, but I've been working on several Finnish shipping modules today...
Coming soon:
Posti -> Postipaketti 16
Posti -> Ovellepaketti 14
Posti -> Maksikirje (painoraja asetuksella 2kg max)
Matkahuolto -> Bussirahti
Separate thread will be created about these in another forum lounge when done.
I sent you three files and someone else can try the others.
admin -> specials.php
admin -> template_select.php
admin -> whos_online.php
Couldn't update the previous post so here's the new list :)
Tiedostot jotka kokonaan kääntämättä:

I will look the others one more time - if I could do a little bit more..
I translated admin -> store_manager.php translated yesterday...
Thanks for the files Laeticia ... I had to edit them a bit to for them to fit in with the others...
if anyonw would want to translate the admin sqlpatch thing.... it's damn long and full of techincal terms :D
I'm sure that my translations look a lot different from yours because I haven't seen them :D But I hope that it helps..
I sent you
client -> modules/order_total/ot_cod_fee.php
client -> modules/shipping/usps.php
I did it today, but maybe you can fix it? I'm not sure about those technical words..
Todays missing files are as follows:
admin -> linkpoint_review.php
admin -> paypal.php
admin -> products_price_manager.php
admin -> products_price_manager.php
admin -> record_artists.php
admin -> record_company.php
admin -> salemaker.php
admin -> salemaker_info.php
admin -> salemaker_popup.php
admin -> store_manager.php
client -> modules/payment/authorizenet_aim.php
client -> modules/payment/linkpoint_api.php
client -> modules/shipping/freeoptions.php
client -> modules/shipping/ups.php
----------------------------
Thanks for the files you've sent me everyone ... I haven't have the time to go through them yet... will check them today ...
On another note, there are some image buttons (in english) in includes/templates/tampleta_default/images/
But these might stay untranslated because IMHO every shopkeeper/builder SHOULD take the time to create new buttons for the current template they are using ;)
admin -> products_price_manager.php
Translated mostly succesfully :\
Files left:
admin -> record_artists.php
admin -> record_company.php
client -> modules/payment/authorizenet_aim.php
client -> modules/payment/linkpoint_api.php
client -> modules/shipping/freeoptions.php
client -> modules/shipping/ups.php
I think the rest can be done later ;)
a bit lonely in here.... oh well...
releasing the Finnish language pack version 1.1 (for zen cart 1.3.6) NOW !!!!
Hi all!
For some reason the language pack file in the download sections opens in a text editor ... however, you CAN download the file by clicking the right mouse button and select to save the target to disk...
Then rename it for example finnish.tar.gz
I will not address this issue just yet with the zen cart staff, because I am releasing a new version within a week, because some translation errors have been discovered....
To make your life easier, you can also download the language pack from my site
Hello!
Woaah, can't praise you enough Pasi, that is magnificent job you did!! Still have some faith in mankind about what you did. :smile: Helping people with free of charge, that is one rare issue in todays world. But i guess that is what open solution is about. Happy, happy, joy, joy! :laugh:
T: One happy camper
So I take it, that if we ever meet in a bar, you'll buy me a beer ?
(be careful with your answer, I'll hold you for it ;) )
Could you Pasi give some kind of instructions how to install the langaugepacket..? I moved finnish-folder and finnish.php from the zip-file from your sites into my ZenCart, but I can't get it running.. The problem is in the user (this case in me:) ) , and the Zen Cart keeps saying MISSING LANGUAGE FILES OR DIRECTORIES finnish. I am not sure where the problem is..:smartass:
Hi,
I'm not Pasi, but may still be able to help you.
Look in the working copy of the original ZC folders. You have includes and admin. Includes shows you the public side, and admin the admin side.
In Includes there's a folder languages. Place your finnish.php in that folder (the version you are working on, not the original unzipped) at the same level as the english.php. Then you see a folder called english. Place your includes/languages/finnish folder beside the english folder.
Now go to admin and find includes/languages, and do the same.
Hope this helps!
Marianne
I tried to do as you told, but all I get is huuuuuge warnings from everywhere..
Nothing works now so I am little question mark. Darn. :cry:
require(DIR_FS_CATALOG_LANGUAGES . $_SESSION['language'] . '/' . $template_dir_select . 'meta_tags.php');
That seeme to be the mainissue. Or the line I get warnings about.
Located in includes/languages/finnish.php - line 51.
Warnings and fatal errors. Huugaa.
a parse error in catalog ->tell_a_friend.php has been found...
it's easy to spot ... will be fixed on next release :yuck:
UPDATE:
New version (1.2) of the Finnish language pack has been released!
I urge everyone using version 1.1 to upgrade IMIDIATELY to fix the parsing error in tell_a_friend!
There are also some spelling corrections and some changes to the email output (now the look a bit more sane)
Also I've released the Suomen Posti modules, that I've might of had mentioned previously... check them out, they're rather COOL ! :wink2:
(Like always, the downloads will appear on the download section when the zencart team has validated them, so hang in there :yes: )
a new version is coming up.... before the year ends :)
A new release is out!
It has support for 1.3.7.......... GO DOWNLOAD! :)
A little note in Finnish:
Mitä mieltä täällä oleilevat Suomalaiset olisivat Suomalaisesta Zen Cart foorumista / sivustosta?
Jos kiinostusta löytyy niin pistä mulle privaatti viesti!
includes/languages/finnish/login.php
One row missing, row 13 in the English version:
define('HEADING_NEW_CUSTOMER_SPLIT', 'Uudet asiakkaat');
finnish/gv_faq.php
row 22: replace NAME with NAMES
row 23: "
Makes better Finnish : )
Any finns using luottokunta with zen?! If anyone is and is willing to help me out how to update the module since luottokunta is updating the functions next month. I have the for now working luottokunta module if anyone want to have a look.. I need to know how can I add some functions to the form. such as (zen)language and also Id like to process ccard info direct with the form as well..I guess you can rip the code from cc module.. that is ofcourse if you know what you're doing..I'm lost..
I don't.
Luottokunta is the sole provider for cc payments in Finland, and way too expensive in terms of fixed fees. I decided to use PayPal IPN instead, until I have enough turnover to justify the costs for cc processing through Luottokunta.
I have just published the new shop in three languages, version 1.3.7. The site is in the Zen showcase. There are still some products updates/language versions that has to be done.
Yeah, I had a look at your shop just the other day ... how do you find the PayPal system?
Is it something Finnish people really use?
I've had the impression that Finns don't quite trust it if it's not Luottokunta?
poosk ... email me the module you're using and I'll have a look ... (get my email from my site ;) )
Hi,
PayPal is mostly there for the foreign customers of my site. Quite recently, my bank didn't know what PayPal is! I suspect many Finns don't know PayPal either.
European (and Finnish customers) can pay using bank transfer also. For that I use the mod EUStandardBankTransfer, but modified and simplified it a bit. I have no direct link to any bank on my site, also because of too high fixed fees (and missing contributions).
For Finnish customers I still have the COD on mail available, only because the consumer protection authorities like it. I'm thinking about leaving it out. Some customers are so much afraid of not getting the stuff they pay for in advance, that they insist on COD, even if it makes the purchase very much more expensive.
Oh, OK :)
I thought it was for the Finnish customers...
Yes, the fees by Finnish banks are a one major killer of e-commerce in Finland...
and I don't even dare mention Luottokunta :shocking:
My other shop uses COD and the other doesn't ... there have been many requests in the one that doesn't have it about getting the orders via COD, but in the end I have always convinced the customers to use banktransfer...
banktransfer is just much more safe option for a small business, and because the Finnish consumer protection authorities are always on the consumers side in cases where the order has been paid but no goods delivered, that it's 100% safe on the consumer side too ... just not many customers see it that way :mellow:
Next version of the Finnish language pack will probably include additional translations to the configuration pages.... depends on how much time I'll have!
I can look through the new translation if you want, see if it's good finnish (yhdys sanat ja muut sanamuodot kuntoon etc.). :smile:
Either the translation is perfect or people just don't report the errors to me :ohmy:
oh well.... :smartass:
Another Zen Cart, another translation version...
Should be available through the download section today.
It includes a nice set of typo fixes and re-phrased sentences...
with support for ZC 1.3.8 (and the "a" version of it too)
nice! thanks for sharing
Why hasn't anyone started a service in Finland like the Swedish Payson in Finland?? :shocking:
I see no payment module for that here either (they have a pdf document with instructions on integration). They give you a service like PayPal but the customer can pay through 4 banks, or using cc, or their Payson account funds. The fees are 3 SEK + 3% per transaction, no monthly or setup fees. It costs very little to move the money to a Finnish bank account from the Payson account, no minimums. I'm seriously looking into using them for my Swedish customers.
Hi,
I uploaded luottokunta payment module few days a go. Its the updated version which works with the new HTML-API(it changed a little bit last year). Its tested on live shop with no problems.
Module can be found here.
Such as?
I tried to Google but didn't find anything.
Heres one service that I know of.
Thanks!
Actually this service has a huge setup fee, a monthly fee and a transaction fee. It's still not suitable for a startup because of the cost.
Anyone have ready made button in Finnish.
They seems to be missing in all versions of finnish languge pack.
If not using buttons
Seems like in some machines the buttons are displays as url links, but in some it displayes a image error icon.
Paypal has no set up fees. And customer can use Visa Electron which is a card that will be obligatory if not using pankkikortti.
Also other credit cards. Fees approx 0,35€ + 3,4% in the beginnig.
also Ennakkomaksu is as easy as Pankkipainikket (Almost at least).
Then one that is interresting for which I will go is Kreditor. They offer invoice service with no risk for you and me. Only some money needs to be payed.
set up fee some hundreds and per used service something aswell.

If you mean advance bank transfer payment, I've used the Eurostandardtransfer module for that inside the Euro area. I've also used the Postiennakko (COD) for Finnish customers. I've been lucky, everyone has actually bought who used it. Go have a look.
The bank payment button setup fees would cost more than my annual sales, so I'd rather use a system that's debited per transaction. PayPal gets expensive for small product prices; they take more than 10 % of my download pattern prices, and for EU customers I have to add 22 % VAT on top of that to include the cost in the product price. But that's still reasonable compared to the Finnish alternatives. :no:
I dont meen Postiennakko, I think that is too risky. I have one shop though, that has it as an option and it works fine but if it is more common products then people don´t care about our loss.
I do meen similar to advance bank transfer payment.
I´ve made a simple system. When the customer chooses Ennakkomaksu on my site they get the information how to make the payment.
First directly in the confirmation page and then later in their email and also in their zen cart account is a bill kind of page where the information is. Everything works automaticly.
Then they open their net bank and makes a transfer as in any other payment of bills normally.
This bank button is kind of over charged. The customers have log in to the bank anyway. a bank button is like a link and not much else. Except it fills in the transfer form an no copy pasting needed.
but copy paste and writing is not a big deal I think. All people in Finland do that every day.
I also have a "tilisiirto" module that sends the payment info to the customer in an email (+ the customer gets a PDF invoice with the details) and in the checkout success page I have links to all the bank visible (if the customer selected tilisiirto that is)
There are no services without setup fees in Finland.... everything costs too much for small webshops to be an option.
One option is the new Kreditor service. They've been active in Sweden and are now setting up things in Finland.
And about the buttons... they are not included because they are template specific. Who ever creates your layot, should create the buttons!
Are you willing to share the tilisiirto module?
I have made my own tilisiirto (I call it ennakkomaksu) "module" but it is rather clumsy. I only made it because i couldn´t find any suitable
What comes to Kreditor it is possible a very good option. Anyway it cost some money, but migth increase sale.
www.garudakauppa.fi
Hi,
tried this luottokunta module but when testing it, jumps all the time from the confirmation page back to the checkout page 2.
What could be the problem? Luottokunta won't give any test codes until you pay in advance (they are sick IMHO).
Anyway tested with some borrowed codes existing but the same results: jumping back from the confirmation page.
Elli
It goes back to checkout page 2 which is the FailureUrl. You cant just test this with any borrowed codes because the site which uses the code is also in the settings in luottokunta and if the site is not the same, the code wont work.
Aha, interesting... wanted to test this before being FORCED to buy either test codes or real ones...
I was using exactly the module from the Add-ons of ZC, so is that one working without problems in actual life? I would just like to know before I invest money on it.
Elli
For those wanting credit card payments in Finland, use PayPal ... I was supprised how many customers are willing to pay with it ... a bit higher comission per order, but no insane monthly fees...
Luottokunta isn't really small business friendly and testing any code with their service is made impossible!
Anyone have finnish bank mod? please PM me if you do.. I used to have it (with nordea,op etc) but lost it somewhere...
cheers
Moro @ all!
I'd like to convert the suomen language pack to UTF-8.
Where do I have to start :D
Because it looks like I did not "adjust" @ the right places.
Kiitoksia
Now it works!
I normaly use Bluefish for file editing and even after changing:
// charset for web pages and emails
define('CHARSET', 'UTF-8');
I had the challenge mentioned above.
Now I used Quanta instead of Bluefish and I saved the file again -> and "swoops" -> everything looks like it has to.
So pls, do not ask me what makes the difference between these 2 applications -> but now it works perfectly.
Does anyone still have these finnish bank payment mods? Someone once made these from OScommerce mods but I just don't know how!
Please note that the actual language files are encoded with ISO-8859-15 which might end up showing some chars wrong in the web page.
You can do the conversion with bluefish, but it needs to be done to every file (open file, change to UTF-8, save) ... rather good program that bluefish ;)
Sorry for making this post in Finnish, but since it's 99,9% for Finnish shop keepers I see no harm...
Elikkäs... Minulta löytyy seuraavat modulit/muutokset zencarttiin:
Tilisiirto
Lähettää tilisiirron /ennakkomaksun) tiedot asiakkaalle sähköpostiin tilausvahvistuksessa.
Nordea
Sampo
OP-Pohjola (ent. osuuspankki)
Aktia (Säästöpankki)
Luottokunta
No UTF-8 files yet, but I decided to upload the newest set of files today.
Should be available soonish.
There isn't much new for users of the old language pack, so no update is necessary. Just some small typo fixes and re-formating of words and sentences.
But use the new pack if you are doing a new install.
Hello
How to exclude all other countries expet Finland from the Suomen posti module?
Is there any suomen posti for shipping to other countires?
And a bit late answer...
if you set zones correctly, you can use them to limit the module to only be visible for customers in finland.
Also, you can quite easily mod the excisting zones shipping module to work as a post module for outside of finland.
OR you can contact me and I can set them up for you ;)
Just to let you all know, that I will probably not update the Finnish language pack anymore.
I've tried to keep it valid up to version 1.3.8a and even started to work on some of the earlier 1.3.9 version, only to get slapped in the face with a new 1.3.9 version every time I thought I was catching up.
I've been doing the updates with 3-way file comparsion, comparing the original english files (old and new) together with the Finnish version visible on the side and merging defines to the Finnish files and translate them on the go. But it's so damn tedious job to do that I just don't have the energy for it anymore.
The current language pack works with 1.3.9 but it misses some strings completely.
I'll be back when the folks developing ZenCart get us the new (2.0) version, which hopefully uses a more better system for storing languages than CONSTANTS.
Today we have published version 1-6 of the finnsih language package.
It is at this time not yet published in the contribution part but you can find it in our support page that we now also open for Finnish language.
Pasi has done a great jobb with the modules and also all other that has credits in the module.
//Magnus - FrilansReklam
FYI. I will take over the language pack maintainance as soon as the language file format changes.
1.5 RC2 translation is out and can be downloaded from the zencart download page.
Feel free to test and report any problems.
I had to update the translation as I have loads of customers in need of an upgrade. Will try to keep it updated for a while :)
Small update uploaded last week. Nothing major, just few missing defines added to admin side.
Hi,
I tried to upgrade from 1.3.7 latin-9 db encoding (had old language pack circa 2006) transferred to new server. After upgrading latest finnish language pack got character encoding problems with umlauts.
In db tables collation seems to be latin1_swedis_ci and character show ok in phpmyadmin so no corruption. Problem is old 1.3.7 in configure had no charset encoding options even 1.3.9 seemed ok but after upgrade to 1.5 & latest language pack encoding problems started
FYI. Finnish language pack 1.5.0 Rev. 2 has an error in checkout_success.php
It is missing a > for <a> tag in one of the defines.
It will work, but it expands the link in checkout_success page wrongly.
Fixed for Rev 3 release, which will be out when I get some more fixes in it.
