MAP Pricing Module?
Hi. I'm looking for a map pricing module for 1.3.5 like the one for 1.2 described here: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=158
Can I use the older module on my site without problems?
Thanks for any help or advise on map pricing.

MAP pricing
Hello,
Has anyone gotten the MAP pricing module to work in Zen 1.3.5 ?

My Add-On for MAP (minimum advertised price).
Hi All,
I just updated the MAP Pricing module so you don't have to do manual file edits anymore. I submitted the update in the downloads section. It comes with complete instuctions in the read me file.
Some manufacturers proibit people from advertising an item for less than a certain price. This is called MAP. This mod allows you to set prices lower than MAP without breaking the law because it only displays the prices once they are added to a shopping cart. On the product listing page, a message saying 'Priced so low, we're not able to advertise it. Add to cart for price.' will appear instead of the actual price.
Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.

Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Hello,
There seems to be a problem the new add-on for map pricing.
I get the following error:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/afcsales/public_html/includes/functions/functions_prices.php on line 1356
How can I fix it?
Tony

Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
HI,
Fixed the parse problem on line 1356. Now I have a another problem as follows:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: zen_get_products_actual_price() in /home/afcsales/public_html/includes/modules/meta_tags.php on line 254
When the product with MAP pricing is displayed this is the error. How can I fix this?

What version of Zen Cart are you running? I've only tested it on v1.3.5.

Hello,

Map Version 1.1
Hi,
I installed the latest Map Pricing Module, version 1.1 for 1.3.6 and it dosen't work properly. A lot of the electronic products I have are MAP Priced
Before I enter anymore new products I would like to get my problem corrected.
When map pricing is enabled when entering a product, it should display " add to cart to see price, etc" . In error it displays the lower price and the folloing message in bold red letters: "Will not display lowest price except in shopping cart" The product entered was a new entry.
Since I know nothing about programing, can someone help me correct the problem?
regards,
Tony

Re: Map Version 1.1
You would probably get replies on this issue if you posted in the MAP support thread instead of starting a new one:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49901
That way any solutions will be in one place instead of having to search multiple threads.

Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
If you use v1.0, does it work any differently?
-
Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Hi,
Well, the 1.0 version is was much worse than version 1.1 . Version 1.1 was improved a great deal, except for the problem with pricing and the error message.
Version 1.0 was not tested in Zen Cart version 1.3.6. I'am using 1.3.6 and version 1.0 broke my website and i had to reinstall it
I have no idea how to correct the problem.
Any ideas?

Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Hmmm ... I cleaned the code up a bit, but IMO the approach is not the best and is very limited in its scope.
I"m sure it met a need for someone. I'm not convinced it's ready for mass-rollout.
Not sure exactly what's causing the symptoms you're reporting though.
-
Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Hi,
I got the MAP module working. There wasn't anything wrong with your MAP Version 1.1. I re-downloaded the software and reinstalled ZenCart and it worked . I think a file may have been lost or corrupted during the FTP, the first time I did it.
Thank you for your interest in finding a solution to my problem.
Regards,
Tony

Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I just added the add-on and everything seems as advertised, but I seem to be missing a define or two. The products Image section looks like this...
Products Image: http://www.berniesphoto.com/admin/im...ixel_trans.gif TEXT_IMAGE_CURRENTD2Xs.jpg Upload to directory: Main Directoryattributesbannerscategoriesdvdgift_certificatesgt_interactivehewlett_pa ckardlargemanufacturersmatroxmediummicrosoftsamplessierrauploads http://www.berniesphoto.com/admin/im...ixel_trans.gif TEXT_IMAGES_DELETE No Yes http://www.berniesphoto.com/admin/im...ixel_trans.gif Overwrite Existing Image? Use No for manually typed names No Yes
TEXT_PRODUCTS_IMAGE_MANUAL
What am I missing?
-
Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Try reuploading all the files with the MAP mod via ftp. Sounds like you are missing something.
-
Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Still a problem. It just looks like I'm missing a DEFINE statement for the TEXT_IMAGE_CURRENT and TEXT_PRODUCTS_IMAGE_MANUAL ...
Isn't the TEXT_IMAGE_CURRENT supposed to be set by products.php?
-
Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I'm not sure. Can you find a line of code for TEXT_IMAGE_CURRENT in products.php?
-
Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
This add-on is great.
However, I think the original price should be added to the display, with a line a through it.
Thanks for this contribution, just what I was looking for.
-
Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Is that legal? Is a price with a strike through through it "unadvertised"?

$400 (with a line through)
(Priced so low, we're not able to show it. Add to cart for price.)
That is legal because the selling price is not shown... only the suggested retail price is shown.
Thanks

Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I currently have this MAP price dilemma as well. How do manufacturer's really feel about only showing the price in the cart? I mean can't it technically be seen as advertising cause its one click away? I currently have this dilemma and the difference is we are currently under the watchful eye of our manufacturer. Anyways, any advice would be appreciated.

When you ask your manufacturer about this what do they say? I'm thinking this is where your wanted 'advice' should come from ;-)

Hello Acappie,
I just installed map module on Zen 1.3.6. I am also getting a fatal error. Can you tell me what you did to fix?
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare zen_update_products_price_sorter() (previously declared in Zencart/admin/includes/functions/general.php:2502) in Zencart/admin/includes/functions/functions_prices.php on line 1321
Thank You

Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Please help. I'm a new zenner and just loaded the zen 1.3.6 map price module. I'm getting the following fatal error when trying to log into admin.
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare zen_update_products_price_sorter() (previously declared in Zencart/admin/includes/functions/general.php:2502) in Zencart/admin/includes/functions/functions_prices.php on line 1321
Any help greatly appreicated.

the error message you mention suggests that zen_update_products_price_sorter() is declared inside your functions/general.php file ... but, in v1.3.6, that should not be happening, since it only exists in functions_prices.php
Thus, you have some "other" mod installed, or have made some other sort of customization to your site to cause the problem you mention. Either that or you have missed something during a site-upgrade at one point.
Clean up your functions/general.php and this error should go away.
-
Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Thanks for the help DrByte.....I commented out the functions in the general.php and that fixed the problem. I really appreciate your help on this.

Map Pricing
I developed a MAP Pricing addon myself. Version 1.0 is located here: http://www.slickricky.com/designers_...r-zen-cart.php
I'll be uploading version 1.2 in the near future. You can contact me through my website, if you don't find it. www.slickricky.com
-
Re: Map Pricing
I uploaded v1.2, which now allows you the option of either displaying the higher price like this "$99.00 but add to cart for an even lower price." or simply "Priced so low, it can't be advertised." if you don't specify a display price.
You can edit that text by the way to whatever you'd like in the language file.
It has been updated so that it now appears in the "Pricing Tools" category on their website: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=158

i have this same issue. i've recently posted a question (before i found the MAP module) about implementing the solution in another way.
on other sites, i've seen an 'email for pricing' button (easy enough to address using the call for pricing tag). but, in the email that is sent to the customer is a 'hidden link' to the product with the below MAP price. it is still completely functional within the cart system. but, is non-navigable and non-searchable from the front page. the only way in is via direct URL.
this would be nice as well.

Re: New Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Anyone have a way for a java script box, like this one to pop up when the user wants to see the below MAP price of the item? I see on amazon that they use this.
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-DV-393...6828052&sr=1-4
It is a very cool way to display the price and offer the option to add to cart without leaving the page. Anyone have code available that can be modified to work like this with Zen Cart?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Trouble in Internet Explorer (what's new)
This is a wonderful addon. Works great in Firefox but when I try it in Internet Explorer, nothing happens when I click on "add to cart" - not a good way to increase my sales :wink:
Anyone else ever have this problem? I would love to use this addon, just need to fix this small problem.
Any and all help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
CANCEL that. It was not an issue with this addon at all. We had some issues with some hidden comment fields that I didn't realize until I starting testing our online store after installing this addon.
So, in fact, installing this addon helped me discover a hidden probably that was already present with our store.
Thanks again - great work!

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I don't know if you are using the standard version or advance, but in advance add the fields you want added to easypopulate_export.php. Below is an excert:
"case 'store':
$ep_file_types = array();
$result = ep_query('SELECT type_id, type_name FROM ' . TABLE_PRODUCT_TYPES);
for ($i = 0; $product_type_row = $result->getRow($i, ECLIPSE_DB_ASSOC); $i++)
{
$ep_file_types[$product_type_row['type_id']] = $product_type_row['type_name'];
}
$iii = 0;
$filelayout = array(
'v_products_id' => $iii++,
'v_products_model' => $iii++,
'v_products_type' => $iii++,
'v_products_image' => $iii++,
'v_map_price' => $iii++,
'v_products_upc' => $iii++ ,
'v_product_isbn' => $iii++,
'v_map_enabled' => $iii++,
);
"
This is working for me.

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I just installed this MOD for a 2nd time. The first time is didn't go so well. I have it working, but it's showing the MAP price in front of the text "Priced so Low...", and that can't be right because then you don't have to add the item to the cart to see the MAP price. I downloaded a fresh copy of the MOD from the download site, and re-installed, but no luck.
Has anyone come across this before. It's working fine if I put the MAP price in "Price" box, and leave "MPA Price" blank, and enable MAP Pricing.

Significant Figures in Pricing with MAP Pricing mod?
Hi,
I've installed the MAP pricing module and it's working great, but some of the MAP prices don't show all of the significant figures in the amount. For example, if MAP pricing shows $2.50 for one product and $2.65 for another product, the $2.65 product will show normally, but the $2.50 product will display as $2.5. (No trailing 0.)
It's not a deal-breaker, but it just looks unprofessional. I anticipate having to change the sig figs in the MAP pricing module in some way, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has run into the problem before.

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
MAP Pri cing is working great for me, except for one thing. Prices that end in "0" don't have the last "0" displayed. For example, a $2.50 price gets displayed as "$2.5" - the last zero gets left off.
Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Ok, just found the check box for the enable pricing, duh! lol
Now thats it enabled, it shows the Map price before the "For an even lower price add to cart."
Even when added to cart, still doesn't effect the price. Not working.
Is this something I have to manually edit somewhere?
I have 1.3.8 I believe. Fresh install, only mod was a new template skin.

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
This is an ABSOLUTE FABULOUS add on!
How ever, is it possible to have the following features as in this example here?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16828106206
1. A strike-thru the Original Price
2. A "See Price In Cart" button that will...
3. Trigger a pop-up window that will give customers two options
- to buy the product
- a button saying "Just looking - Remove from Cart"
and of course showing the Original price, a "You Save" price and the finale price.
- a courteous explanation like in the example, why they had to "Add to Cart" to see the price.
Will it be too hard to add these functionalities to the already existent MAP add on core?
Thank you!

MAP and pricing groups help needed if you can help, I'll buy you coffee.
(Before anyone gets upset - I know I posted this before, but under commercial help by mistake, where it hasn't got much attention - please pardon my re-post - I didn't know how to move the original)
Virtually all of my products carry Minimum Advertised Pricing restrictions. Though the MAP mod doesn't work perfectly I can get by with it....BUT
I also deal in a special niche market for which I offer special pricing. Using either Group Pricing (per item) or Dual Pricing - Wholesale could work, except that they overwrite several of the same files as MAP, and I've tried and tried to WinMerge these things and can never come out with both mods working.
Can anyone out there get me these two mods working together in ZC version 1.3.8a? I've already wasted dozens of hours trying to learn PHP and merge these files, and in the process lost most of a unique marketing window of opportunity (and probably thousands of dollars) because I can't get my store to do what I need it to do for pricing. I can't afford much - since I'm not making any money in my store, but I'd be willing to offer a token of my appreciation if someone can help.
I've compared the files in each mod, and here are the ones that conflict:
Group Price/MAP
\admin\includes\modules\update_product.php
\admin\includes\modules\product\collect_info.php
\includes\functions\functions_prices.php
Dual Pricing/MAP
\admin\includes\modules\update_product.php
\admin\includes\modules\product\collect_info.php
\admin\includes\modules\product\preview_info.php
\includes\functions\functions_prices.php
PS. If I get a choice, I'd prefer the Group Pricing per item, as it overwrites far fewer core files, but it also seems to need a bug fix or two even apart from the merging. I'm afraid Dual Pricing would make future upgrades a nightmare - But I'll take either one at this point to get the store working the way I need it to.

If you use easy populate v 1.2.5.4 then read the first post in this thread to update all of your current products, you have to add 2 new fields - map_price and map_enabled:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116061
To change the product creation MAP field to always ON when you are adding a new product through the admin you can make a small change in the database, changing the MAP setting from 0 (off) to 1 (on). It is in the table products and the column to edit is map_enabled.
-
Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I do not. I am using the Map price contribution though. There must be a way to use MAP price as the default.

To change the product creation MAP field to always ON when you are adding a new product through the admin you can make a small change in the database, changing the MAP setting from 0 (off) to 1 (on). It is in the table products and the column to edit is map_enabled. Click the pencil icon in the map_enabled row and change the value from 0 to 1.
You can also change this for existing products by running this sql command in phpmyadmin or a similar database control program:
UPDATE TABLE products SET map_enabled=1;
This will change all products to map being on. If you only want some products to have map enabled you need to run this:
UPDATE TABLE products SET map_enabled=1 WHERE manufacturer_id=(whatever manufacturer you want);
If you are using prefixes you would need to change the table name, for instance zen_products.
you can change manufacturer_id to any of the other columns in the products table that will help you filter the products you want to change. For instance, if you use an identifying code as part of the model number you could put WHERE products_model=(whatever)
As always, you should back up the table before doing any modifications to it!

will this M.A.P. add-on work with V1.5.0?
This add-on is called "MAP Pricing ( m.a.p ) : Add to Cart to See Price" it says "Zen Cart™ Version: v1.3.6" .. I need to add MAP pricing (att to cart to see price) to my website, so if this will not work, does anyone know of one that will work? I have V 1.5.0 My website is www.stageandtheaterlighting.com .. Thanks!!

-
Re: will this M.A.P. add-on work with V1.5.0?
Thanks for your suggestion, but that's not exactly the answer that I am looking for. Though I really do appreciate the suggestion!! Sometimes there are unintended consequences, and I would prefer not to find out 5 or 6 months from now that something has not been working properly, I have been missing sales because of that, etc.. so,, if anyone knows within a reasonable probability of tolerance that it will perform as intended in the 1.5.0 version, or if it will not work properly, that knowledge would be my first choice.. if not, I will certainly take your advice and do what you suggested. Thanks!! ps.. I originally posted this in the wrong place..... sorry
-
Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
As a courtesy I've taken a look at the code and simply updated it to work with the new version.
Updated for ZC v1.5.0:
http://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=66
Do remember that this mod overwrites several core files, so if you've already customized any of the files that are overwritten by this mod, you'll need to redo (merge) those customizations.

MAP pricing setup for products in Admin seems to work okay, but once set, browsing the product's page reveals the MAP price displayed in red, along with the "For an even lower price, add to cart" text (e.g. $25 For an even lower price, add to cart.). When the item is added to the cart, the MAP price is not carried over, so the cart displays the standard, non-MAP price.
I even tried merging the MAP code into the ZC distribution files, but got the same results.
Has anyone else noted this behavior?

Um ... that's exactly how it's supposed to work.
"M.A.P." means "minimum advertised price", which is the lowest price the manufacturer will allow the storeowner to display the product for ... unless they add the product to the cart.
So, the Minimum Advertised Price would be perhaps $25.00, but when they add the product to the cart, it will be added into the shopping basket at the lower price of say $18.95 which is the price the storeowner is selling it for.
MAP is not the "cheaper" price. It's the "higher" price, and the store's main price for the product is the price at which the store will actually sell the product ... just like any other non-MAP-enabled product would be treated.

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
And after getting yelled at by numerous vendors, I have gone to straight MAP pricing, consumer be damned...

I understand MAP pricing, it just seemed a little counter-intuitive from similar products I've used in the past, where the MAP price was used as the lower, cart price. Thanks for the clarification.

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I have just installed this on 1.5 and it does what it says. All good
The problem is that my store prices are in £ and display correctly without the mod. When MAP is used the price is prefixed with $.
I have looked it the new files and can't see where to change this.
Any ideas?

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Probably need to change the $ symbol in the plugin's customised version of functions_prices.php:
Code:
return '<span class="map_pricing">$'.round ($map_price, 2).' '.MAP_PRICE_STORE_FRONT_TEXT_WITH_MAP_PRICE_DISPLAYED.'</span>';

From my understanding, something has to be added or modified in includes/functions/functions_prices.php

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
Ok I am using ZC 1.5.1 and when I install The MAP mod it works great except that in admin it removes my entire configuration menu so all I have under configuration is "Logging" I have searched and searched and am completely lost as to what could cause this. www.crystals-place.com

Anyone know how to fix the truncated zero?
$1.50 shows as $1.5 with this add on.

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I just installed this mod (seemed to be one of the easiest I have installed) and then went into my admin/catelog/categoryproducts and selected a product to test it on. Sure enough 2 new fields were in my product edit page and so I selected "yes" to enable MAP pricing and then set a MAP price a couple of dollars higher than my net price. I hit preview and it showed me in red that "it will not display the lower price except in the shopping cart. Looked right to me so I hit the update button and tied out the product on my site. Didn't happen. I went back to the product editing page and the two fields were back to where they were before editing. I attempted this a couple more times with no luck. The changes I was making weren't staying. Any ideas?

Does anyone have an answer for this?

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
I've just installed some jquery js on my site (datepicker calendar & faq-type display) along with COWOA. All is on v1.5.1. All worked fine before, now no prices show. In the source code it'll just show <span class="map_pricing"></span> with no price whatsoever. Any ideas?

Re: My Add-On for MAP (mininum advertised price).
MAP pricing works well for me, the issue I have is when we have a sale, the sale prices never show up unless I manually turn MAP pricing off for the sale? Any simplistic suggestions? Thanks

Re: Map Version 1.1
I am using zencart 1.5.3. I have the dover fine responsive template installed. How can I use this module and have it interact with the dover fine template with no problems?

There's no "switch". You'd have to put back the original files.
Or I guess simply remove all MAP pricing data, in which case it should display prices normally.

Well we need to keep it but when I run sales it (MAP) doesn't allow the pricing discounts to be shown.

Re: Map Version 1.1
It works with the dover fine template and 1.5.3 but there is a conflict with some additional fields thta were installed from a previous module. The fields were UPS/ISBN. The MAP pricing shows now but deleted my upc.

For each of the 3 admin-side files you'll need to merge the customizations from that other module with the ones from the MAP module, in order to have both sets of features present.

Re: Map Version 1.1
Is there any way to get what the SQL statement would be if there were not the "auto install" info in the files? I have a customer where his server is not performing the sql install. When I click to edit a product it just gives me the database error has occurred please try again. When I do the uninstall sql - it says it didn't alter anything because it did not exist.
THANKS!

I'd suggest deleting the mod and using the one from Twitch which is updated regularly, we used this one and are moving to the newest one soon

I was slightly incorrect.
The Plugin still displays etc but the quantity discounts displayed below the pricing show the lower price that is not supposed to be shown.
