Hi,
I've got my cart set up to accept Paypal IPN payments only. All worked well on testing but since going live, every transaction has resulted in PayPal taking the money but no emails being delivered and empty orders against the customers name. When I try it myself, it woks smoothly and as expected.
So to summarise, I can make orders using Paypal, my customers attempts fail. Any ideas?
Make sure that you have installed the current PayPal Patch and uninstalled, reinstalled and reconfigured your payment module:

Right now I am following Ajeh's suggestions and reintall a brand new Zencart 3.17 onto my server and use the original Zencart database, without adding any modules. If this problem still exists, then it must be something wrong with Paypal IPN. I will let you the result after I finish the intall and test.

I installed the original zencart 3.7 onto the server and tested the Paypal IPN, without adding any modules. The same problem still orrured. I think it is the problem of Paypal. But you can still use Pay Express Checkout, which is still working.

Yes. I tested before and after current PayPal Patch was installed. The same in both cases.
Check/Money order works fine. Paypal Express works fine too. :-) Only Paypal IPN has problem.

Yours sounds more general, and the following very detailed FAQ document will show you a number of things to check:

Your database was missing the "auto-increment" attribute on the paypal_payment_status_history table. This is a very odd happening. I've not seen just "one" table suddenly lose its autoincrement setup. This sort of thing usually only happens on a mass table-export-then-import usually when moving from one host to another and changing MySQL versions in the process ... and even then it should affect all tables, not just one.
I've fixed the table, and am waiting on a test transaction to confirm success or not.
I built the original site on my local server then transferred it to the current server. So you're spot on. I followed some instructions for moving to a live server that I found in the faq and obviously something happened in the database dump and transfer. I've just had a successful transaction so things looks promising so far - fingers crossed.Quote:

I am replying to the thread you posted yesterday to me.
I followed the detailed FAQ document and checked everything. Double check I have uoloaded the newest PayPal patch. Followed your another thread to open the paypal log.
The problem was still there. I noticed that after I finished the payment via Paypla IPN and was redirected to my website, there was no order number showing. And if there was no order number, then consequently new order would not show up in Admin, nor in "my account" either.
When I checked out using check/money order and Paypal Express, the order number showed and then new orders would show on Admin.
the attached is the zip of my paypal log. I tried 3 times with Paypal IPN, no order number; one time with Paypal Express, the order number is 12.
By the way, it was really painful to check out with Paypal Express. I prefer Paypay IPN pernonally.

After receiving a Paypal notification payment without any ORDER confirm email, I installed "Paypal Session Viewer" addon, and I found I HAD OTHER 2 STUCK ORDERS, both with Paypal payment selected, but for them I did not receive ANY KIND OF NOTIFICATION, nor from Zen-Cart or Paypal (no order confirm,no payment notification)
How could this happen?
I realized I had, skipping my test orders(it' a week my site is officially online), alternating good and stuck orders:
#9 ->OK
#10 Stuck without any payment and any kind of notification
#11 ->OK
#12 Stuck without any payment and any kind of notification
#13 Stuck order (no ORDER confirm email) but I got Paypal notification

Making some tests I realized that if I or the client subscribe and enter Paypal page, at that point a stuck session is created.
So I need to understand if for some reason clients stopped going on or there was an error.
I sent to those clients a Discount Coupon inviting them to tell me if they encountered some difficulties during checkout.
However reading other threads it seems other people is having the same problems, but Paypal Session Viewer can help if a Paypal notification is received.
If my "potential" clients give me some advise I will let you know.
When you installed the may 10 patch, did you also configure PDT? This should help prevent stuck orders from happening.

No feedback from the clients I found in the stack orders, for some unknown reason they left the Paypal payment page without proceeding.
I have logs activated, 2 other payments went well in the meanwhile... what I did was to remove Paypal Express Checkout that I am not using.
I got an email about a payment from Paypal without any Order confirm email...so I thought of another Stuck order, and moved it from Stuck orders to Orders list.
Soon after , looking at the Log files I realized another log file arrived, from PDT that failed to insert order data because I moved from Stuck orders, so probably if I had waited I had had a good order.
PDT was 10min late this time.Looking at the previous logged payments, the 2 log files have the same date/time or a difference of 1 min.
So I realized that the FIRST log file, always reported a warning:

The only explanation for PDT being 10 min later is if the customer paid by CC and without a PP account, and was left on the "Click here to create account or here to return to merchant" screen ... and finally came back to your store after choosing one of those options.Quote:

Don't know what causes it but I fixed it without upsetting any config by installing a new zencart to another directory then copying its /zencart/includes/modules/payment directory over the troublesome one. I'm using version 1.3.7.1.
