This pack is developed by Crystal Koi Design. (www.crystalkoi.com). the pack has major
portions taken from the Japanese zen-cart team, but has been updated for 1.3.7. It
has also had all the Kana entry fields taken out of the code.
Included in this pack are address order files. These are core file changes and are up
to you if you want to use them. Recommended that if you live and do most of your
business with Japanese customers then use the address order files. You could also
clone your template and include the files for the address order under that template
and then set your template up for the Japanese language. This would be the best
solution but requires more overall work for all your updates and modifications.
The buttons have not been updated yet but are to come and have been taken from the
English pack and the other Japanese pack. We ask for everyone to please help test
this and develop it. The admin area has all been added but the configuration menu
area is still in English. Japanese is to come.
Note EZpages are only supported in one or the other language. We suggest learning how
to make and add your own pages as it’s a cleaner way anyways but we are looking for a
solution to this.
Pack name as of 5/28/2007
CK-JLP-1.0Beta
Download at:CK-JLP-1.0Beta.zip
This is not like the 1.3.0.2 pack for the Japanese zen-cart team. This pack drops in
to existing zen-carts 1.3.7
If you are updating from 1.3.6 or other versions and are worried about the ezpages.
Use a redirect from your old page url locations to the new locations of the pages that
you made.
To learn how to make pages use the About Us Pages module located here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=182
Thanks to the Japanese team for all the translations that you have done, give credit
where credit is due. We have just provided a different avenue for people to go with
this. We also stayed away from the Kana entry area because it changes core files and
adds a lot of work for the user to update.
Please not the BETA. This is the 1st test run and we are sure that there are going to
be things that should be changed. Please pm or post all recommendations and we will
apply all that we can. Also if you have Japanese test users that can go through
things Admin and Customer side would be a big help. We have translators working with
us but every bit helps to make this pack as great as we can.
Please test this before you take it live and thanks for all that will help!
Regards
CrystalKoi
We will be adding paypal translations to this soon too as they offer Japanese services now. This will be updated as soon as we can.
The HTML Area isn't working, trying to fix this. Will add it soon.
The HTML area has been added. The pack was missing one file. If you already downloaded the pack then you can manually put the file in. If not, then the download has been updated and should work fine.
here is the link to the manual file. ja.zip
it goes in editors/htmlarea/lang/
Let us know if you have any problems.

Sorry, the link got messed up there. Here is the link again.

Hello CrystalKoi:
Kudos for all your hard work!
I'm installing a ZC shop for a client. They would like to do admin in English, but be able to provide product display in either Japanese or English, as well as enter Japanese _in_ on the admin side. Would you sugggest your Japanese Pack?
Thanks in advance,
Patrick
Yes it should work, please note the beta stage. You can switch between English and Japanese in the Admin no problem. There is a drop down for all language packs using zen cart so it should work.
There has been update to the tpl_modules_create_account.php file in the address order file. Please download the pack again and add this file, if you have decided to use it.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards
PS. We are working on more options for the pack and they should be up soon.
Thanks for the reply!
I may wait a bit, then, for some updates before installing.
Cheers,
Patrick
It should be up to par really fast. If you would like to set-up a test site and post anything you find, then the fixes will be done right away. We will be using this pack for our customers so we have to have it fixed fast.
hey guys, really interested in this since a huge portion of our business comes from japan. how does a japanese customer coming to the site know how to "click on" the japanese view? what will he see in japanese and what would remain in english?
please forgive my ignorance, but it's been an adventure getting my cart funtioning smoothly in english and while i'm excited about other language prospects i'm a bit wary... look forward to hearing your advice.
There are some ways to do this. You can change the button from a Japanese flag, to something like Nihongo in Kanji on the button. This is just one Idea, also you could change the lable from Languages, to Japanese if thats the only other language you have.
Let me know if you understand that.
We are going to do another update to the pack, any info or feedback would be great. This way we can update as much as possible at one time.
So let us know! Thanks for all that are testing it!
CKD
thanks ck, making the nihongo button seems to make sense...
We can make one and include it in the pack if people want that.
Hey I put that javascript file in catalog/editors/html_area/lang and I still get errors trying to use the the html area option in the define pages editor page. These are the javascript errors:
HTMLArea is not defined
[IMG]chrome://firebug/content/blank.gif[/IMG] HTMLArea.loadPlugin("TableOperations");
HTMLArea is not defined
init()define_pages_edit... (line 20)
onload(load )define_pages_edit... (line 1)
[IMG]chrome://firebug/content/blank.gif[/IMG] if (typeof _editor_url == "string") HTMLArea.replaceAll();
I'm using Firefox when I access this, and my admin is set on japanese. Any suggestions on how to get this to work?
The pack has been updated, daioyayubi pointed out an error in the install for the address order files. The install doc has been updated and also folders to where they go have been added to the pack.
As for the editor error, I will check into this more and get back to you.
Regards and thanks for the great feedback!
Daioyayubi...can I ask who your host is, I think this might be a server issue. I just installed a fresh cart and used the pack and all went well, no problems.
Here is a link to a post about this stuff:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59090
Note there was a Japanese issue in there, but has been resolved and was included in this pack. If you look at post 16, there is someone with the same issue. I hope this helps. PM or Email me and I can tell you a good host to use if you need.
Regards,
CK
I want to change some of the labels on the address form, etc., but no matter what text editor I use or text encoding I select, all I see is a string of seemingly random characters. Is this a problem on my end or is there something I need to know about working with Japanese in php?
You can use dreamweaver. This is a common problem when you 1st start with Japanese and php.
Open dreamweaver then go to Modify>Page Properties>Title/Encoding>Encoding> Japanese EUC
All should work from there, let me know if that doesn't.
CK
Ahh, I had tried UTF-8, Shift_JIS, and Mac Japanese, but I missed EUC. Thanks muchly.
Well I fixed the htmlarea problems I was having. I detailed my fix here:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...425#post388425
I guess it was host related because it depended on how my host gives me access to my files through the shared ssl cert which led to the paths not being written correctly when you have your admin all protected with ssl.
I was getting annoyed at dealing with multiple character sets, so I switched everything over to Unicode. I had to reinstall Zen Cart on my server, but since my site's not live yet and I'm doing all my development on a local server, for me, at least, it was a trivial matter. Anyway, if anyone else is interested, I've zipped up the necessary files to create a completely Unicode-friendly install of Zen Cart. From my brief testing, everything seems to be in order.
http://phreakymonkey.googlepages.com...panesepack.zip
This pack includes a copy of CrystalKoi's pack. I have simply converted all files to Unicode, and changed the necessary lines so that your store will serve as UTF-8. Hopefully I didn't miss anything...
It also includes a copy of the Unicode install pack I found here, which will allow you to create your MySQL tables in Unicode when installing Zen Cart.
Have you tested this unicode on a computer other than yours, both English and Japanese OS?
If you have a link to a test site, can you pm it to me? I would love to explore this option for the pack and further development of the pack. Also test the emails and such in diffrent email clients. I will reserch this more, and thanks for the idea.
Actually after looking in to using UTF-8 for encoding, might not be the best option. I need to find more facts about it, and I am up to hearing what others have to say on this subject, but as for now I am going to keep the pack we are making in EUC. If anyone has any good facts on this, I am all ears!
Regards,
CK
After I made that post I came across some search results that lead me away from UTF-8. I am no expert on this, so If someone can tell me other reasons for it, that would be great. Here are links and copies of some of what I have come across. (edit...really hard to read so here are the links.)
http://people.debian.org/~kubota/unicode-symbols.html
http://people.debian.org/~kubota/uni...ols-3.1.1.html
As I said, I'm not testing on a live site, but I was running into issues with certain characters displaying strangely because I have some Japanese characters on the English side and vice versa, which is why I went through and changed everything.
I'm no expert on encodings either, but I'd rather not have to deal with incompatibilities. Perhaps it will turn out to be a bad idea, but it's easy enough to change it back.
Those articles you linked to are six years old and there have been two major version changes since then, so it is likely that any serious issues have been ironed out at this point. But it would probably be wiser to solicit the advice of someone who actually knows what they're talking about, because I certainly don't. :D
Phreakymonkey, 6 years..thats a good point. I will look into it more, as for posting Japanese in English, yeah thats a problem and maybe you have the best solution there. Really isn't a topic that I have seen much info on. When I get the time I will go through and research it more and post back. I guess I should have taken more time there to really read more into it.
Let us know please and also if you have a test site up with it on, I would love to see it.
Regards,
CK
The main problem I was having is that certain fields in the admin area aren't able to be changed on a per-language basis, which makes certain symbols go weird at times.
I've set up a test store at http://www.phreakymonkey.com/unicodetest/
Under the featured products, I've modified the product 'Rope', so it has Japanese and English characters and symbols for both languages. You'll also notice the yen symbols in the currency dropdown menus and in the price, with both the ¥ on the left and the kanji on the right (goofy looking, but there for demonstration purposes). Here's a screenshot of what it should look like. Post if your browser displays it differently. If you don't have Japanese languages installed, Japanese characters will probably be displayed as question marks.
I'll send you an admin password so you can poke around, Crystal.
Thanks for this pack. I have installed it.
How do I use it? ie how do I switch from English to Japanese on the site?
I'd like to do this with flags, like this site http://plamoya.com/
Thanks
Localization>Languages
Tools>Layout Boxes Controller (sideboxes/languages.php)
You need to turn the language sidebox on, that will add the flag. You should also install the language under the localization menu.
make any necessary changes
Name: Japanese
Code:ja
Image:icon.gif
Directory:japanese
Sort Order: (1 or 2 which every you want)
Hope that gets you going..please not the pack is still in beta. We are currently going through an install of this pack on a site we are building and should have final updates to the pack soon, exact date I do not yet know but I hope with in the next 2 weeks.
CK
Thanks CrystalKoi.
Managed to install your pack. Found the language sidebox too.
All good, thanks very much.
Hi guys, I've encoutered a problem when adding a Japanese category name. The name is made up with 8 JPN characters, but only 4 are kept after pressing the "save" button, (the English category works fine at any length) does anyone know how I can solve this problem? Thanks for your help.
Hi Crystal, Godspeed and others
I've installed the pack and most things are brilliant.
So far just 2 notes to report. See my working site as to what I mean: http://www.untitled-project.com/zen-cart-jp/
1) The 'signup' button in Japanese is missing or broken link. This is needed when you have the split signup/signin form switched on. To see what I mean, visit link above, add something to cart, and go to checkout. You get 2 options - to signup or login with existing details. Signup button is missing from box on the left.
2) Japanese is appearing over the top of English in white!? (Only in firefox). Again, To see what I mean, visit link above, add something to cart, and go to checkout. You get 2 options - to signup or login with existing details. The odd white Japanese text is writing over the top of 'new customers' in english...
Thanks for having a look at these. Ill keep posting if I run into anything more
R :)
2 richter
This is happening because of two errors in the includes/languages/japanese/login.php file.
The white text is simply asking customers to sign in and is part of the HEADING_TITLE. However it drops down because that definition (line 11) has a line break in it (the <br /> tag). Replace this with a space and the first problem will clear up.
The second problem is that you have English text there. This would seem to be because the translation for split logins has not yet been done (line 14 and 17), though you should be able to simply insert the normal text from line 13 for the first instance, and I suspect that the second may prove to be more difficult unless Express Checkout is now available for Japanese customers.
BTW. Love the direction the site is taking. Wonderfully effective gradients.
Hmm. It might be too strong to call these errors. In designs where the header can expand vertically, the first would be fine.
Richter,
Yes these translations will be in the next update. but you can go ahead and put this into your includes/japanese/login.php file:
As for the other thing we went with the original code from the 1.3.7 English pack here. I will check more into this, thePHP Code:
define('HEADING_NEW_CUSTOMER_SPLIT', '新しいお客様');
thing.Code:<br />
The button issue will be addressed too in the next update, we took the buttons from the other Japanese pack but we are thinking of changing all of them.
Also in the new update we will have updates for Sama in the emails, change the name layout for emails, and also change the invoice so that Sama shows up after the name there too.
Most of this is done, just working on the instructions for this all now. If my wife doesn't have our kid before this weekend then I should have everything up..well maybe not the buttons, but all the code should be up this weekend with the next update.
Thanks for posting,
Regards
CK

Here is the whole code for the file as some other things have been changed too.

Arigato Kuroi for your comments, and Crystal, wakarimashita :)
Crystal, I just copied that text in your last post and replaced the old text in the jap login file like you said.
However it kinda didnt work and now there are ??????????'s all over the place.
Maybe its an encoding thing but I tried changing the encoding in Firefox without luck. You can go to www.untitled-project.com/zen-cart-jp and add something to cart and go to checkout to see what I mean. Ill leave the error up for a day or 2 for you to look at.
I guess if you are nearly done with the full release I can just wait a week!
Re buttons, the missing button is /buttons/japanese/button_create_account.gif
Maybe I/you/we will just have to make a new one. I wouldn't overstretch yourself making a whole new set of buttons yet (unless you want too!)
Thanks, R
Richter, its more than just one of us working on this pack here, but I do head up this project, we have decided to update the buttons but not as of now, so we will make a new button for button_create_account.gif that matches the current buttons.
Here is the file that you need for the login, you can download it here
Let me know if that works for you, I will try to have all the updates I can soon, but my wife just had our 1st kid! So that comes 1st but I have down time sitting around the hospital, so I will try to write it all up for everyone and get it going.
Regards,
CK
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Richter,
Thanks..the baby is great. Its way different in Japan, they stay in the hospital for 5 days.
I think the pack is done now, at least for now, we have the button, all the stuff is translated that we can find so far. Sama is added everywhere. I just need to sit down and write all the install instructions up.
That can be the challenge right now, I will try to do it tomorrow.
Regards,
CK
Hey Crystal, you're a legend!
Yeah I know how they like to keep you in Hospital for ever in Japan (I live there too)
Dont over work yourself, I'm certainly impressed how fast this pack has come along. Im looking forward to it!!
Cheers,
R
Hey Crystal, one more bug report! Gomen!
On my testing site it is cutting off the Japanese text in the categories side bar. Its cutting off characters after the 4th one...
In english this isnt a problem.
See here for what I mean: http://www.untitled-project.com/zen-cart-jp/
Did you have this problem on your site?
R
Sorry people, I will have to postpone the next release a little, I just got some very good input from the support team and I need to look it over. It just deals with translations so nothing big, but I want to get as much right as I can for the next release, I will try my hardest to have it out with in the next two weeks if not before. If you have a pending problem or you are trying to run a live site post your question here and I will try to answer all I can.
richter, One thing, make sure when you enter in text, the admin is in Japaneses. That might be your problem for the 4 character limitation there. I also noticed on your index page you have text that is on top of the text in the main section but the text is in white so it just makes the current text look weird. This would be a layout issue, css, html and such.
Regards,
CK
Hey Crystal, that's done the job - I entered the categories with admin language set to Japanese... it worked! :)
And thanks, but Im not worried about that white text you mentioned. Its just the 'success' install message which is really long and flows over. Im betting you were viewing in Firefox. So no worries there!
Otsukaresamadeshita!
Just to let people know that we are still going on this. We have run into some bumps in the road. EUC issue is paypal in Japaneses and UTF-8 has a hotmail issue.
But we are working on them now...thanks for everyone's patience on this and if you have any know work arounds for the issues at hand please let me know.
Regards,
CK
To paraphrase the PM I just sent to CrystalKoi, problems with Hotmail will occur if the customer is receiving e-mails in UTF-8 (in Japanese or any other language with non-standard characters) and their Hotmail account language is set to English. Customers using Japanese Hotmail accounts should not have a problem, based on my tests.
I lied. Hotmail seems determined to serve everything as ISO-8859-1 for some reason, even if a language other than English is selected. The recently-upgraded version of Hotmail, Windows Live Hotmail, has converted to UTF-8, but since account holders have to manually upgrade, there are most certainly plenty of people who haven't done so.
Just to let people know. We are testing the pack today and hope to have it up soon. It looks good but want to give it a run over again. We are going to offer UTF-8 and EUC. If anyone wants an advance copy without instructions please pm me and let me know utf or euc, I wouldn't mind testers but you need to know what you are doing. Please if you are new to zen cart then just wait for the pack. Shouldn't be long now.
On that note, sorry about the delay. Not going to give you a big excuse, life is life and it has just gone that way right now.
For those of you who are using the Japanese zen-cart teams pack. I would really check into how it works on php5 as most servers will be dropping php4 soon as support has now been dropped. I really have no clue how it will function on php5 and I hope if it needs it, they will update it for you guys.
Regards,
CK
Hi, CrystalKoi! How's it going with the pack? If you have a newer version for testing, please mail it to me.
BTW, did you use the same translations as the other Japanese version?
I'm going to be diving into this too. I just downloaded the pack... are there any more recent files? Even with reading the txt files, I'll probably be dropping in with some questions. I'm setting up a ZC site for my wife. She speaks/reads/writes Japanese and I don't so I'm afraid of flying blind.
J
Hey everyone,
Is there any update on this language pack?
can someone confirm whether this is still in Beta or full version.
Also please confirm what work remains to be done. What known bugs are there?
Ive been out of Japan and I want to pick my project up again ASAP.
Otsukaresamadeshita!
@richter
We are building another Japanese zc for a client. We will have their cart going in 1.3.8 and should have that done by the end of this month or beginning of next month, the problem with posting 1.3.7 for me was all the mods that have to be done, to fix all the little things. I will document it as I go this time (as best I can) and post the files that I use. Supporting it seems to take more time than I had accounted for. Its not dead at all.
If you can pm me your email address and I will send you what I have, but you will have to work through it, I have a pack for 1.3.7 but the new version has new language definitions in it that will need to be done. Let me know if you want euc or utf-8.
Regards,
CK
We got our site up and everything seems to be working fine. So far, the biggest problems I've run into are getting the correct Japanese address order and getting the Yen currency symbol into order emails.
www.cutiedevil.com
@cutiedevil and everyone else
I am working out a new Japanese pack at the current moment. I have been thinking about a lot of underlining problems with the current Japanese pack. Our pack that we made was taken from the current Japanese team. This has seemed to have halted a lot of development of their pack.
There are some issues that really get to me about the way the pack handles things. For example, the fix for the pack to make the last name show up in the right was to just replace first name w/ last name, so that when it’s entered this places the name in the first name section of the database. This causes issues later when you want to use payment modules such as PayPal, which can be fixed in a much cleaner way, but is harder for the average person to do.
I will be writing up a 4 part (or so) installation process for a new pack that will address all the issues. This is a big reason why the current pack has not been updated. It had many issues, while it works, it seems you always have draw backs.
In the write up, I hope to make it as simple as possible, but it will not be a drop in pack. You will have to edit code yourself. I don't want to spend days every time a new version of ZC comes out, or if I stop working with ZC, to have people left hanging.
It will be a learning process, and if this is too complicated for people to do, then you can always contact me and I will install it for you, but it won't be for free, as I am really busy with projects. (Zen team, not trying to advertise, just trying to be up front that I will not install this for just anyone)
The code that I will write, will switch the code of the files w/ the language. Where as the current pack switches only the language. This pack will actually change the underlining code so that everything will run smoothly later on.
It will also have all the prefectures in English (for the English side) as a drop down and when you switch the cart to Japanese, in Japanese as a drop down.
This will take me a little bit of time, but I need this for a current site I am working on. So I won't be giving it as a pack so to speak, but as a learning experience with the current translations need for the current version that is out at the time. I hope to have it all up to the 1.3.8a version, or whatever the current version is at the time.
So this isn't dead, it’s just been me busy and also trying to change the whole direction of the pack.
Regards,
CK
You're doing a great job on this CK. Hopefully everybody will understand the need to combine this contribution with actually making a living. If I can provide any help, please let me know.
@kuroi, thanks so much for the support. I would love for some help, I will send you a link to my guide and if you could go through it and give me you input that would be great. This is when its done. Do you speak Japanese? Anyways, pm me your email if you can.
Regards,
CK
I was able to install the Japanese Language pack without a problem. But now there are a lot of little bugs that I cannot fix. For example, when I enter a catagory in the catalog, I will put in the English version of the title and the Japanese version of the title, but the Japanese version of the title gets cut off when I update the site. For instance, I enter Necklaces in English but when I enter Necklaces in Japanese and look at it on the site...it reads NEKU only (A MAXIMUM OF 4 CHARACTERS WILL SHOW UP) and the other part of the word is not showing up (in all catagories). What can I do to correct this problem?
I also have an issue with the Yen symbol not showing up on my product pages (some other strange symbol shows up) and the conversion from Dollar to Yen is incorrect. I am new to Zen Cart and hope someone can help.
Thanks
@crisstyle
Hi, I know its hard to deal with these little "bugs" at 1st. I will be going through a lot of them. I am going to try and finish up the Japanese Pack, at least up to 1.3.7 version of zen-cart this Friday/Saturday. It might be a chore to get it all worked out by then, but I am meeting with a customer on Saturday, and its my goal to have the pack installed by then. I am also creating a write up for the install as I go through it. I will try to address as many issues as I can.
For the name, it can depend on your database limit.
Make sure to always enter information into the site when the cart is in Japanese. That might fix things for you.
As for the yen symbol, I would just use "yen" for now, as that is accepted practice in Japan, I know this isn't a great fix, but it should work for now.
I will post back when I have the pack up and going. Also Mr. Seiji Matusumoto is going to help in creating the Japanese pack for 1.3.8. He works at a college here in Japan dealing with open source projects...what college I can't remember off the top of my head, but he is a great guy and his work is top notch.
Regards,
CKD
As CK says, try having the Admin pages set to Japanese when inputting page data. I read that requirement somewhere, it stuck, and that's the way we've done it all along. It works well. This may not be related but at one point we were entering keywords somewhere that were not showing up correctly. I had to ensure the page encoding was EUC, not JIS then all was well.
I ran into this specific problem. My computer is not set up to input Japanese, my wife's is, but I'm building the site for the most part. At first I tried copying & pasting the Yen symbol from Word but that didn't work. I had my wife email me a Yen symbol from her computer which I copy/pasted in and that worked. In other words, I think the computer (or the source computer for the symbol) has to be set up to type Japanese characters. Also, to get the Yen symbol to show up correctly in customer emails, the email format has to be set to HTML. Otherwise, you get the hex (I guess) code for the Yen symbol instead of the symbol itself.Quote:
I also have an issue with the Yen symbol not showing up on my product pages (some other strange symbol shows up)
I ran into this as well but solved it by brute force. We're only selling to Japan so the dollar doesn't matter for our cart. I only have one currency set up (Yen) so there is no conversion taking place. Before I did that, conversions behaved oddly and since I didn't need them, I didn't spend time debugging the problem.Quote:
and the conversion from Dollar to Yen is incorrect.

As for the yen symbol you can use the html accent entity code
see if that works.PHP Code:
¥
I just figured out a way to get the YEN Kanji symbol in.
I pasted in the the following character: 円 and it worked fine.
The other problems I spoke about are still not resolved. I type all of the descriptions in Japanese but the product description is still getting cut off at 4 characters.
I also have another problem I recently discovered. When I click on a category, all of the sideboxes on the right are being pushed out of the container. I have a really strong feeling that this has to do with the size or font of the Japanese characters, but again, I dont know how to change it. Any suggestions?? (CSS changes for sidebarcontents are not working)
Thanks
Using the Yen Kanji, I could see where that would cause problems in some peoples machines if you are using both English and Japanese, just Japanese you might be fine.
Using the yen entity code would be the best universal solution and I have checked and it works just fine.As for your product descriptions getting cut off, can you show us an example. I have done many sites with no problem here.HTML Code:¥
As for layout, that will be a css html issue. You could post an example of that here and maybe would could help you out with that, but I don't really get into peoples css issues, also please note that the pack you downloaded was beta, and the new pack is being worked on currently, most issues that you probably don't even know about yet, will be resolved in the upcoming pack.

Try this;
make it view by japane language, before you go to the page to fill up the product name. ( i just see that cutiedevil gave out this solution. anyway it work to me this way.)
so your title got cutoff or descriptions? or both of them?
Thanks for the info. However, when I try to load the Japanese admin pages all I get is a blank white screen. I checked the php and everything looks fine so I dont know why the page wouldnt load. I also tried setting the language on the website to Japanese before I entered the info but that still didnt work.
@crisstyle
When your page turns white, you mean you get a blank page? If so, can you pull the source code, is there anything? The source from your blank page. Also what version of zc are you running?
@crisstyle
I recommend following this FAQ Entry and in particular installing the debug facility to find the source of your blank page.
Does the Japanese Language Pack work as-is with PayPal? When I switch the Admin to Japanese and look at the Payments module, I get a bunch of PHP error messages for missing or failed files in:
/catalog/includes/languages/japanese/modules/payment/
including this one:
/catalog/includes/languages/japanese/modules/payment/paypaldp.php
Thanks!
@cutiedevil
Paypal will work in the new release. The new release will be for both 1.3.7 and 1.3.8
There are some old issues that I am working through with paypal, but I think I have most of it worked out.
I hope to have this pack worked out in the next two weeks, but I am in the middle of also writing a shipping module.
I really do recommending holding off if you can until the next pack comes out.
Regards,
CKD
CKD
Thanks! We can certainly wait for the new release and we really appreciate all that you do with this pack.

@cutidevil
No problem. If you need paypal to work right away, copy the files from the English side to the Japanese side of things.
Example:
You don't have this file.
/catalog/includes/languages/japanese/modules/payment/paypaldp.php
You copy the english file from
/catalog/includes/languages/english/modules/payment/paypaldp.php
And put it in the Japanese side of things.
Update on Paypal
For some reason, when I tested paypal last, I thought that it has a Japanese check out page. I mean, really how hard is it to make a page Japanese, but when you select the Japanese drop down, I get nothing but small order changes.
So I don't really see Paypal as a good way to check out for Japanese. I am going to look more into this, but if anyone has any input on this, that would be great.
Regards,
CKD
Copying those files did the trick.
Last night when I was looking for info on the Paypal site, I saw where the language can be set to Japanese for the checkout page. Tonight I can't find it. Anyway, we just signed up for a Paypal account and will figure it out after we're verified and have a bit more time.
Paypal is going to be an additional payment method for us, not the primary method.

@cutiedevil
Even though it says you can set the encoding for the page, it doesn't seem to be working. I am dealing with paypal now to try to see if there is a way to do this.
I will also be suggesting that you run zen-cart in utf-8. There are some good posts on this forum on how to do this, I will also include this in my walk through. This being that you won't have any problems entering information into your cart and you will be able to edit information in your database.
I hope to have this up soon. Soon being 2 weeks or so.

CKD
Just a little update on Paypal
I just got it working, well for the most part, but I have found the source of problems. So you can expect this to be working with the pack.
Regards,
CKD
Ok, after a busy 2 weeks, I have most of the pack worked out..well I think I have it all worked out, and I have been working on the documentation for it.
I still have one problem. And if anyone wants to help out, that would be great.
It deals with PayPal and you can check this thread if you can help.
PayPal Problem
Regards,
CKD
So PayPal is fixed, which is great news, because most Japanese credit card modules are not a good option
Now if people can just bare with me a little longer, I will get the documentation done and get it ready to go.
@Kuroi
Your PM box is full.
Regards,
CKD
Also, thanks to DrByte for pointing me in the right direction there. Everyone who is going to use the Japanese pack should buy the Zen team a cup of coffee!
Just one more update here.
The Pack, I believe is done! The hole went a little deeper than I thought at 1st, but I think its finished.
I need to work out the documentation. Please don't PM me asking if you can have it, or when its going to be done, I will get it out as soon as I can and have been working on it way too much. I do it in my spare time and I hope everyone will appreciate it (documentation, I do use it for clients, but I don't need to tell myself how to install it). If you want it now, you can always have me install it ($) ...ha
but for them people who want to do it themselves, I hope it will be done this Monday in Japan, which is Sunday for you people in America.
The 1st install documentation will be for new carts, fresh installs running 1.3.8a, as there are major problems with the old Japanese pack :lamo: , and this will clear a ton of problems up.
I will try to address issues of people who want to update their cart after I get the 1st install up.
Regards,
CKD
Anxious. Status please.
@PingPing
I am writing the last part as we speak, sorry, I had hoped for Monday, but we all know how it goes. No excuse, It should be up in the next 24 hours, but I hope its sooner.
Regards,
CKD
Weeeeeeee! CKD, you rule!
Cool! Looking forward to it.
Well I am happy to say that the 1st Tutorial/Pack for the, CKD-Zen-Cart Japanese Pack 1.0, is up and ready to go.
You can find it here atwww.srw2d.com.
I am going to open a new post, as the current post says 1.3.7 and this pack will be updated for future zen-carts to come.
Sorry it took so long, and I hope this helps everyone out.
This is a big change to the direction of the packs before, but I feel its one that is for the best. Please give me your input and if you find any errors let me know.
Regards,
CKD
ThanksThanks from PingPing. Will try. First impression shows professional, nice job!
@PingPing
Thanks, I feel the documentation was kind of rushed. If you see errors let me know, I need to focus on some other projects for a while now, but small updates should be no problem.
Regards,
CKD
One last thing here,
Lets try to post problems and solutions on the new thread for this.
