adding to cart does nothing.
Everything was working fine. Now when I try to add product to cart, it cycles back and says that 'your shopping cart is empty'. Also it doesn't allow to login, create account, etc...... I've tried a clean install with the existing database - doesnt work in the directory I want it to, but will work in another 'testing' directory with out any problems. I have both installs pointing to the same database.
zen - 1.3.7.1
PHP 4.4.7
Any ideas....? I have the site 'down for maintenance' right now :s
Thanks
Gerald

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Hard to say without being able to see what you have done ...
What happens if you switch the site to Classic Template ... does it work now?
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
When I switch back to the default template the problem persists. I tried installing another template as well. I have put the site back up - with a notice at the top regarding the problem. It is - http://www.scrapbookingoasis.com/catalog/
Thanks
Gerald
is it a broken java script? I think i've ruled out the template problem, or maybe i have errors in my stylesheet.... :s

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
PHP Code:
Warning: Variable passed to each() is not an array or object in /home/scrapbo6/public_html/catalog/includes/classes/shopping_cart.php on line 1708

I am seeing this error when trying to add something to the cart. Have you changed something in the files?
What addons/contributions are installed?

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
well... your getting more than me......

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
This does not look good ...

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
all fixed..... 'somebody' added a redirect - redirect scrapbookingoasis.com/catalog --> www.scrapbookingoasis.com/catalog. Essentially it was just regurgitating itself without doing anything with the inputs. So we're back good.......
Thanks

good good good good to hear ... :lamo:

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
I have this same problem.
I am using the classic template, not a custom template or something like that. The entire site uses a Starfield SSL certificate which seems to be working fine.
The configure files say https for all server location definitions (not http & https), as was suggested in one of the config files.
Those definitions also all include the "www".
I believe I have found two configure.php files within the includes. Am I possibly missing one or more???
I temporarily deleted the "no warnings" (extra datafile) but did not get any additional warnings.
Still, adding an item (there is only one product in one category, for testing purposes) just yields a "Your Shopping Cart is Empty" page.
Any ideas where to go from here? I have asked my host about this...am waiting for an answer...but I have this gut feeling that is not a problem that they are generating.
The website, by the way, is woodlandscondos.org/payments/
Thanks so much!

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
First question is why do you have the whole cart under SSL? Zen Cart is smart and only needs the SSL on the checkout portion -
Second you are getting a security error:
Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party.
Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Kim,
The SSL is for the entire domain. That has never been a problem with other applications, including shopping carts. The are other sections of the domain/website that involve the transmission of sensitive information. I darned well am not going to buy multiple SSL certificates for individual pages.
I don't see that the "error" that you mentioned IS an error, but this may be a mtter of opinion. I see it as a warning and, when someone says "OK", that should be that. If you think that this is the issue, them please tell me how or why this is happening...in other words, what specific part of Zen Cart is preventing additions to the cart (or whatever is going on internally).
As I said, I have used other carts under similar situations and have had no problems. But, there are aspects of Zen Cart that I like, particularly the EZpage features, ease of customization, etc.
Thanks.

Add To Cart doesn't work bu Buy Now does
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow! Just had a thread I started closed because I had already asked the question and "had several responses"...when actually I got a total of two responses, one from a moderator, which told me exactly nothing! So, here goes again, but with a bit more info.
This is a strange one. Add to Cart does not work, but I had only one product, as a test. Clicking Add to Cart just takes one to the "Shopping Cart is Empty" page.
When I added a second product in the same category, both products were listed but now with "Buy Now" buttons next to them. I clicked "Buy Now" for one of them and Voila! it was added to the cart.
However, if one selects one of the products and click Add to Cart, that still does just shows the Shopping Cart is Empty.
Any idea why "Buy Now" works but "Add to Cart" does not??? I would assume that these are identical functions.
The site, by the way, is WoodlandsCondos.org just in case you want to check it out. I have temporarily removed the requirement for accounts to be approved upon registration. BUT, I believe it is still set up to require registration in order to buy

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
pretend we know nothing about your site ... where's the cart at?
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Sorry Linda. I had posted it elsewhere, but neglected to post it here.
I don't get this. Before I replied to this email, I had tried to "buy" something again, and the "Add to Cart" button worked. I mean, I THINK it worked. I am starting to "lose it" and I might have clicked "Buy Now" instead. It doesn't make sense that it worked once and not 15 minutes later!
Whatever I did, I was able to go right thru checkout, though I got an error of:
"(123) This account has not been given the permission(s) required for this request"
from Authorize.net. I assume this has nothing to do with ZenCart?
However, when I tried it again, before responding to this post, I was back to "square one"...Buy Now works, Add to Cart gives me the "Shopping Cart is Empty" page.
This is frustrating!
Anyway...the website is:
woodlandscondos.org
Any help would be appreciated. I feel like I am soooooo close!

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
The problem I am having is I do not know what to click to get to your products ... how about a little help on a more complete URL or something ...
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Ajeh,
the web address of the "store" is:
http://www.woodlandscondos.org/payments/
If you leave of "/payments/" you will be at the main website and you will not see the store as I am not putting a link in to the store until it is working.
OK. Once at the store, click "Pay Fees". We want to use ZenCart to accept payment of condominium fees. It will be equivalent to virtual products, so no shipping is required, etc.
Anyway, once you have clicked Pay Fees, just pick one of the models that is listed. You will see that clicking BuyNow adds the fee to the cart...but, clicking Add to Cart just gives you an empty cart.
Thanks,
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
That does appear to be with AuthorizeNet ...
You might recheck all of your settings on the Zen Cart payment module by saving your settigns, REMOVE, INSTALL and then reconfigure ...
Also check your settings with AuthorizeNet itself ...
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Ajeh,
I guess I can try that. As I've said, "Buy Now" works fine. You can go right through the credit card payment and everything. But clicking add to cart returns an empty cart. In a worst case situation...is it possible to have a Buy Now button where it shows an Add to Cart button???
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
However you have your site setup it is confused between the secure and non-secure and the sessions are getting lost ... as Kim suggested this is managed by the cart for when you need it and don't ...
If you want all secure, then something is working incorrectly as I am still moving between secure and non-secure pages ...
For example, I click your link and go to the secure page ... that was a non-secure link ...
I click the Home link which shows before the click as non-secure ... but I go to a secure page ...
Because of this, the session is getting lost and cannot properly track itself to maintain itself so adding/buy now is intermittent and the cart is getting lost ...
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Here's the thing, though, folks...First, I never chose to make part of the site secure and part not secure. I installed the certificate for the entire domain name, woodlandscondos.org
Also, I do not so an intermittant thing here. From my computer, Buy Now always works and Add to Cart never works! Why can't I simply have Buy Now show at every spot where Add to Cart shows now. Is that possible? If so, I would be happy and would not have to figure out what the problem is with Add to Cart.
My point is...if Buy Now works, but Add to Cart does not, why is the blame being pointed to my site, as opposed to ZC's workings???
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
You have something wrong somewhere ... this is breaking the logic of the current session so things are working and not working in unusual ways ...
If you navigate around your site and get to the add to cart/buy now from various locations using various navigation, things are not working right ...
First, I should go to your shop and never see a secure URL until I try to Login or Checkout ... but I am seeing them incorrectly change just by navigating around your site using links and images and listings etc. etc.
Not even touching Login or Checkout ... I see the secure URL appearing and disappearing ...
The first thing to look at is the configure.php file, from the server, without your username and password, at:
/includes/configure.php
There could be something set up incorrectly on it ...
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Maybe I am missing something, Ajeh, but why do you say that someone should not see the secure URL except upon trying to register or login? This particular site...the ENTIRE domain has been secured, rather than just a page or two. Maybe ZenCart cannot deal with that, but I have seen numerous websites in which the entire domain was an https secure site.
That is not to say that there is not a problem on my site. But I can't understand why it would pertain to the security.
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Ajeh,
One more thing I should mention: There are, I believe, 2 config files showing the site URL...one in admin and one elsewhere. In one of those files, the notes give instructions to enter both the HTTP and HTTPS URL's as HTTP.
I followed those instructions in BOTH config files, and maybe that was incorrect. What do you think???
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Let's do a click for click ...
Go to your site ... via your non-secure URL ...
You are suddenly on a secure URL ...
Point at Privacy and you will see it should go to a non-secure URL ...
Click Privacy ...
You are on a secure URL ...
Point at Privacy and you will see it should go to a non-secure URL ...
Click Privacy again ...
You are on a secure URL ...
Point at All Products and you will see it should go to a non-secure URL ...
Click All Products ...
You are suddenly on a secure URL ...
Notice we have not tried yet to actually go to a secure URL but we are being taken to secure URLs where we should not, despite the fact when you mouse over the links they show non-secure URLs ...
This means something is not setup right ...
Seeing the file, from the server, without your username and password, for:
/includes/configure.php
might help determine what is going on here, if it is a configuration issue ...
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Ajeh,
When you say, "Point here or there and you should go to a non-secure site...", that was not MY doing, unless it is a consequence of the configure.php files, one or the other of them.
As far as I am concerned, EVERY page should be secure. In the rest of my website, it doesn't matter what the URL shows as, when you point to it...you go to the correct page, but always prefaced by https and it doesn't matter what it was called in the html source.
ONLY ZenCart has a problem with this. But, again, I never entered http as a preface for the privacy and other pages that were provided as part of the basic ZC installation. ZenCart did this. I only modified the content of those pages. I never named or renamed them unless, again, it was a consequence of the URLs in the configure files.
My question has not been answered: The configure page in the admin folder specifically says to name both the http and https locations AS https. I did the same thing in the other configure file as well. (In other words, as far as I know, every URL in the configure files are called "https". Was that incorrect?
Thanks
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Ajeh,
I checked the two configure.php files and I was wrong! The configure file NOT in the Admin Includes directory was NOT showing the non-http URL AS https. It had been previously. But, when I could not get this this to work...obviously for some other reason...I must have changed it to http.
Now, I have made all URLs prefaced with https and the Add to Cart button IS working...at least for now!
Thanks for the help.

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Post your includes/configure.php without your passwords.
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Kim,
I am good now. I had assumed that, as it stated in the Admin configure.php file...when an entire site is secure, all URLs, http or https, should be entered in the configuration as https.
However, when this was not working before, I had, apparently, changed the http URL in the NON-admin configure file from https to http. Obviously, at the time, the problems was from somewhere else...because, as soon as I made all URLS "https" again, in admin and the non-admin includes directories, I was fine.
Thanks for the help.

Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Thanks for the update that the issues were due to incorrectly configured settings in your configure.php file ...
-
Re: adding to cart does nothing.
Ajeh,
Thanks for jumping in on this and offering what help that you could. I appreciate it.
One comment, however: I would suggest that you comment the non-admin configuration file, in the distribution package, to note that, when an entire site is an https/secure site, all URLs should be configured in the file as https...just like the comments in the admin config file. (In effect, in that case, there ARE no http URLs.)
I was only able to correct the problem by assuming that those comments, in the admin config file, applied to the non-admin file as well. Unfortunately, at some point. I had changed the http URL from https back to http...inadvertently while trying to pin down the problem. But, it turned out that my suspicion that, when an entire domain being secured by an SSL certificate, all URLS, in all config files, should be identified as https, was correct.
Thanks, again, for the help. You folks really go above and beyond the call of duty!
