admin -> configuration -> layout settings
Categories Separator between the Category Name and Count
Categories Separator between the Category Name and Sub Categories
You can delete the defaults and/or substitute your own.

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
I would like to center the show.
I'm using the Rustic template now and changed 95% width to 800px width.
But it stays on the left
Where do I have to search??

I removed the double <body> and <head> tags.
It still does not want to center.

You still need to remove the highlighted portion in the flash header<body bgcolor="#cc3300"> See the snipit below:
<script language="javascript"> AC_FL_RunContent = 0; </script>
<script language="javascript"> DetectFlashVer = 0; </script>

Remove the highlighted portion of the following declaration in your stylesheet.css
body {

padding: 0;
font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 62.5%;
color: #000;
width: 800px;
background: url(../images/bg.gif) repeat-x 0 0 #660000; /* #E7D4B6 */

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Also need to remove this:
<td class="productListing-data"><h3 class="itemTitle"><a href="http://res3.digitalus.nl/~admin37//index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=0&products_id=1">Kunstwerk 1</a></h3><div class="listingDescription"></td>
Not to conflict with what Clyde suggested, but I would suggest the following:
body {
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0;
font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 62.5%;
color: #000;
background: url(../images/bg.gif) repeat-x 0 0 #660000; /* #E7D4B6 */
}

Just FTP the entire includes folder to your server

Try adding the highlighted portion to this declaration in the stylesheet.css
#contentMainWrapper {
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0;

In includes you will find english.php that is the only file you have to check with your current file.
The rest of the files are fairly straigt forward, just copy those folders what does have content in it.
I mean that the folders what you have to upload has to be (automatic) created.

Clyde;
Need you to take a look at http://www.southraven.com and tell me what's wrong with the sidebox's heading alignment before I start playing with the css. This is a stock, unmodified 138a install and just the template uploaded and the 1 gif file added that was overlooked.
Also, is there a reason why the categories box header is different from the other sidebox headers? Personally I would prefer it be like the other sidebox headers.

make sure the sidebox column(s) and the box width(s) are the same:
admin -> configuration -> layout settings
right now you have the column(s) set at 150px and the width of the boxes set at 160px
They should both be the same width or the column(s) should be wider than the boxes.
-----
Design choice to make the category box stand out from the other sideboxes.
if you want to change it just replace the highlighted portion of this declaration in the stylesheet.css
#categoriesHeading {
margin: 0;
padding: 0.5em 0.2em;
background-image: url(../images/cb_header.gif); /* replace this with sb_header.gif */
background-repeat: no-repeat;
text-align: center;
font-weight: bold;
}
-
Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Never mind. Figured it out. I had to set the side box width back to 150px for both the left and right sides instead of the 160px that you had in the readme.txt.
Also changed the css to use the sb_header.gif instead of the cb_header.gif for the categories box.
Love the look and the layout of the template though!
Great job Clyde!

in admin -> configuration -> layout settings
Column Width - Left 160px
Column Width - Right 160px
If you set these to 160px you'll get a little space around the boxes.

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Clyde, would you mind doing me a favor please. Take a look at http://www.southraven.com again. The graphic I made for the page title appear fine in Firefox but it IE its trashed. It's probably the way I edited one if the files for the header layout and not as much a css issue but could you tell me what I need to do to fix the display in IE?

try setting the height of the #logoWrapper as indicated by the highlighted portion
#logoWrapper {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
height: 150px;
vertical-align: top;
position: relative;

As the instructions say:
unzip the file
upload the entire includes folder to your server.
(all the files are set up exactly in the same structure as zen cart so everything will end up where it belongs.)

Column Width - Left Boxes 150px

make the changes indicated by the highlighted portions and that should fix the problem

Hi Clyde,
Cool template!!
My issue is that I have so many categories that the category box is not complete - please check out my site: www.bookshack.net
Is something limiting the height of the box?
Thanks!

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Clyde,
Please disregard my last post regarding the category box as it has been answered.
Thanks!

The sidebox content image is 750px high as long as the number of your categories does not exceed this limit the sidebox should appear complete. If the number of categories exceed this height then the sidebox will break.
I just checked the site in FF3, IE7, Opera, Safari and Chrome and didn't see any break in the categories sidebox.
What I'm seeing is a list of categories that ends with "true crime" and the next line is "new products"
If you have more categories that are not showing up they do not appear when I view the source of the page.

I would like to create some external static pages for Links (pages dedicated for other sites to link to for SEO purposes). I have a software program that creates these pages in html format. My question is how can I create a html page using your template design?
Thanks!

Two possibilities suggest themselves.
Use the built in Zen Cart EZ pages (admin -> tools -> EZ Pages)
OR
Download and install the Links Manager mod (available in the downloads section

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Thanks for the quick response Clyde. In looking at those options it seems that the new pages will be in php format. Unfortunately the link manager software I am using only creates html format. Anyway of getting just the basic design of your template to be used in a static html page? Hope I am making sense. :unsure:

You'd have to style them using the stylesheet.css that comes with the template.
In other words you'd have to use the same tag structure on the static pages that is used in Zen Cart.
What software are you using?
-
Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Ok..not sure how to do that with using Crimson. I've always used frontpage to create and edit.
I am using a software called Arelis.
Thanks!

I'm not familiar with this software but I assume that it will create either a text file or an html file.
either of which you should be able to open in your text editor.

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Do you have an example of a static page in your ZC template?
-
Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Sorry, no.
But if you view the source of any page from your web site You can save that as a text file on your PC and that will give you the structure you would need.
Or you can just click Save Page As from your browser tool bar.

Hi again Clyde,
I am trying to change the title, keywords and description in the meta tags for the general pages (index, etc.). I know how to do it for the product pages. From reading other posts, there seems to be a meta_tags.php file but can't find it. Please let me know where it is or if I need to copy a file from somewhere else.
Thanks!

copy this file to includes/languages/english/rustic/
Edit the file, save it and upload to your server.

Hi Clyde,
Thank You for the template.
I can't get ftp to work for me. Tried different ones and no luck.
Can I just place the folders and files manually?
And is the correct path--
public~includes~template
or do I need to make folder named Rustic?
TIA
Anna

No you don't need to make a rustic folder.
The folder structure is already set up.
You just need to place the entire includes folder on your server.
(without knowing how your server is set up) The path would be wherever you have Zen Cart installed - usally under the public_html folder on your server.
If you have problems just send me a PM

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
I am also using the Rustic Template and have a few questions, hoping you can help me.
1. As you will see on my main page, my text content runs together and it does the same for all my description as well. It is almost as if there is not enough space between my sentences. Is there a way to fix this? I have tried everything that I can think of.
2. How do I made my categories boxes wider?
3. I forgot to ask why my tan colored navigation under my buttons shows up in IE and not in FF?
My new site can be found here:
http://www.baysdesigns.com/
Thanks So Much!
P.S. By the way I really like this new template. I have 3 other sites with the Cherry Zen but this new one is fun.
-
Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
I made a mistake in my question #2. I need to know how to make my category boxes higher in height.
I know how to make them wider.

Try adding the highlighted portion to the following declaration in the stylesheet.css
.centerColumn {
padding: 0.8em;
line-height:1.5em;
}
2. I need to know how to make my category boxes higher in height.
The sideboxes are dynamic in nature and are filled with content as necessary. You want to play with the margin/padding settings in these declarations in the stylesheet.css and see how things look.
.sideBoxContent {
padding: 0.4em /*0.4em 10px 0.4em*/;
background-image: url(../images/sb_content.gif);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: bottom;
font-weight: bold;
}
#categoriesContent {
padding: 0.4em 0.4em 10px 0.4em;
background-image: url(../images/cb_content.gif);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: bottom;
font-weight: bold;
}
3. I forgot to ask why my tan colored navigation under my buttons shows up in IE and not in FF?
You are apparently missing the background image in this declaration in the stylesheet.css
Try adding the highlighted portion
#navMainWrapper {
margin: 0 auto;
background: url(../images/navbar.gif) repeat-x;
}
-
Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Thank You Clyde! I appreciate your help. I think I have #1 fixed now and will work on my other problem.
I have done what you suggest here: But it didn't fix the problem. Any other suggestions?

When you click on this link: http://www.baysdesigns.com/index.php...index&cPath=14
You will see the title bar says httpxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx instead of Advertising. I have even set up a new category for that but I still get the same problem. Is there a way to fix that?
Thanks again!!

}
And now I have another question that I can't seem to fix as well.
When you click on this link:
http://www.baysdesigns.com/index.php...index&cPath=14
You will see the title bar says httpxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx instead of Advertising. I have even set up a new category for that but I still get the same problem. Is there a way to fix that?
Thanks again!!
for the background image, try adding the declaration here in the stylesheet.css
Code:
#navMain {
margin:0;
padding: 5px 0 2px 0;
float:left;
font-size: 1.2em;
line-height: normal;
width: 100%;
background: url(../images/navbar.gif) repeat-x;
}
You will see the title bar says httpxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx instead of Advertising. I have even set up a new category for that but I still get the same problem. Is there a way to fix that?
Not sure about this one, but I'll go out on limb and ask if you created your meta tags correctly when you set up this category.
The reason I ask is that when check the page source no title is displayed where the meta tag <title> </title> appears.

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Thank You!!! That background image this time worked! Thanks a million.
I finally added a line height in the category box so that now my side box for my categories is bigger.
And for that advertising category that wouldn't work in the title bar I had my host fix it for me in the data base.
And Here is my title that you couldn't see. I wonder what you saw?
<title>BaysDesigns, Custom Graphic Designs - Banners & Logos!</title>
You guys here rock! :clap::clap:
Thanks again for all your time and your help. I feel like I'm gaining now.

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Hello All,
I am new to Zencart and have installed the Rustic Template.
My site can be found at http://nblx.nbenterprises.ca/nbstore/
I am having problems trying to do a couple of things.
1. I would like to have the logo in the header fill the entire header and if possible dynamicaly change size based on browser resolution.
2. I would like to move the Cart Totals and Welcome Greeting to a line below the logo image with tne greeting on the left and cart on right
3. I would like to have the "Welcome to N.B. Enterprises" centered above the new products on the home page.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

1. I would like to have the logo in the header fill the entire header and if possible dynamicaly change size based on browser resolution.
If you want the graphic to fill the entire header you will need to create a new one that has the proper width. currently it is 800px wide - you would need it to be at least 910px wide.
in the mean time you can open includes/templates/rustic/css/stylesheet.css.
find this declaration and make the highlighted change:
#logo {
text-align:center;
}
2. I would like to move the Cart Totals and Welcome Greeting to a line below the logo image with tne greeting on the left and cart on right
open includes/templates/rustic/css/stylesheet.css
find the following declarations and make the highlighted changes:
#cartHeader {
position: absolute;
top: 90px;
right: 0;
font-size: 1.2em;
color: #6D0000;
background: #DCD6C4;
font-weight: bold;
width: auto;
}
.greeting {
position: absolute;
top: 90px;
left: 0;
color: #6D0000;
background: #DCD6C4;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 1.2em;
width: auto;
}
3. I would like to have the "Welcome to N.B. Enterprises" centered above the new products on the home page.
open includes/templates/rustic/css stylesheet.css and add the following declaration:
#indexDefaultHeading {
text-align: center;
}

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
After I installed the template and I know this is probably not the templates fault, but the main page looks great the side boxes and products show up, but when you click on one of the products it goes to a blank page, no side boxes or product, but if you press the back button it will go back to the main screen, any idea where I mite start to look for the problem causing this blank page?

I don't use either of these mods. However, you might want to try moving their related files into ../templates/rustic and see if that helps.

Thanks your always a great help, I was thinking of going over both mods to see what files got placed in template directories, but there should not be any the way I see it, but what do I know!

As I said, I'm not sure about these mods.
but the error message seems to be calling both of them from ../inlcudes/templates/template_default.
That's why I suggested copying them to ../includes/templates/rustic just to see if that might make a difference.

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Thanks, added a couple of directories and files to the /includes/templates/rustic directory from my default template and now the errors are gone, thanks for your help!

Is this being used as your "logo" or as as your "header background"?

Still not clear what you want to do with this and where you want to place it.
The current "shopping cart" image and text which is in the header changes dynamically as things are added to the cart.

As I mentioned in earlier, It would be much easier to visualize what you want if you had a URL for your site and or post the image you have here.

M recommendation would be to rename the header image to:
logo.jpg and save it to includes/templates/rustic/images/
next open includes/languages/english/rustic/header.php
find and edit the following section as indicated by the highlighted portions.
define('HEADER_LOGO_WIDTH', '640px');
define('HEADER_LOGO_HEIGHT', '79px');
define('HEADER_LOGO_IMAGE', 'logo.jpg');
Save the file and upload to your server.

Hello Clyde, I have tried the things you have sent me and again thankful for the time you have spent.The logo,s were created in xara Webstyle as two seperate images so i would still like the ability to edit them in xara.Your default positon for a logo suits my needs for the first logo and I would like to delete entire header sales text and its position and replace that with second logo. I have edited the Logos and they are attached here.Thanks again John:smile:

First: save your images to includes/templates/rustic/images
Second: open includes/languages/english/rustic/header.php
find the following line of code:
Code:
define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', 'TagLine Here<br />This text can be changed by<br />editing <code>includes/languages/english/rustic/header.php</code><br />To replace the logo, upload your logo.gif to <code>includes/templates/rustic/images/</code>');
and change it as follows:
Code:
define('HEADER_SALES_TEXT', '');
Third: open includes/templates/rustic/css/stylesheet.css
find the following line:
#taglineWrapper {
margin-left:135px;
padding-top: 2px;
background: url(../images/callout_bg.gif) no-repeat;
width:560px;
}
and change it as follows:
#taglineWrapper {
margin-left:135px;
padding-top: 2px;
background: url(../images/logo_b.jpg) no-repeat;
width:640px;
height:78px;
}

Again, without see the actual site where you are placing these images, I really can't give you very accurate information about the sizing and Css adjustments that may need to be made.

make sure your edit(s) are enclosed in single quotes:
, 'my edited message is here');
note: if you used an appotrophe in any part of the text make sure you use a forward slash in front of it
, 'my edited message is here I\'m glad I got it right ');

It depends on what admin settings you have set for the index page
One setting uses the first one another will use the second one.

www.cheapasaddlery.com.au
Out of the box the template works well in FF, IE7, Opera, Safari and Chrome.
You've obviously made several changes to the styling.
The most glaring is that you've changed the overall width of the template - reducing it by about 25%
The "tagline" is overly large (font-size: 4.5em) and is running into other sections of the header including the section of the navigation bar that includes those three buttons. Reducing this font-size to 2.5em or 3.5em should solve the problem.

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
Hi Clyde,
First of all I would like to say that I love your "rustic template" Thank you for creating it.
Let me start by saying that I am a newbie when it comes to website creation. I have downloaded the rustic template and uploaded it to my server via the instructions in the download, read me first folder. Working fine on the website.
Now I am in the process of "trying" to customize it for my site and I am having absolutely no luck what so ever. I have read the previous posts about includes/languages/english/rustic/header.php I have made the changes in the right places (I think) and uploaded via filezilla to my webhost (hostgator) but the changes aren't showing up on my website. I don't know what I am doing wrong. :dontgetit
my website url is http://eaglemountainsupplies.com
Any help/info that you can send my way is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time
Becky

Re: Rustic Template Support Thread
I have not read this whole thread, but I have searched it and didn't see an answer to my problem, so here goes.
Someone please take a look at my site. www.ncmodularhomesales.com (I realize it's not rendering quite right. I have been testing using Firefox, and a friend just pointed out the issues with IE.:cry: But that's not my issue.)
Notice that on the Index page, manufacturer listing, and category listing, in the heading, the greeting looks fine, but go to any other pages and it says "TEXT_GREETING_GUEST" or "TEXT_GREETING_PERSONAL"
I'm driving myself nuts, can someone help me? I'm using the "rustic" template. I just installed it last night. Thanks in advance y'all.:frusty:
(I am new to Zen-Cart, so please try not to talk over my head.)
It would not bother me to take the greeting off of all the pages except the index page, whatever makes it easier to fix quickly.
