conditional fields
Me again. Can a field appear (at checkout, i suppose) depending on products purchased? So, if you have purchased a horse event, a "horse's name" field appears (preferably with the option to enter several horse names).
My guess is that it might call for some clever SQL action.
Thanks

Re: conditional fields
What would be the purpose of people entering these names into a field. What is intended to happen once they have put this data in, and clicked some sort of "submit" button?

Re: conditional fields
We need to collect the information because some events judge the horse (regardless of the rider) an some judge the rider (regardless of the horse).

Re: conditional fields
Sorry, but I have no idea what you are talking about.
Are you expecting a horse to try to check out on your webshop?
What is it exactly that you are selling? How are you selling it? what additional information do you need to determine the nature of a sale?
Maybe that will help explain things better.

Re: conditional fields
Any reason why you wouldn't want to use an Attribute on the Product where the customer can fill this in on a Product by Product basis for this?

Re: conditional fields
this website is for an agricultural show. those entering horse events will need to supply their horse's name. the difficulty with using an attribute will be that i only need the info once and if they are entering 20 events, they won't be best pleased by entering the same info 20 times. What i'd really like is for fields to appear at checkout, depending on categories of "products" purchased.

Re: conditional fields
Are you using the existing comments on the checkout for anything?

Re: conditional fields
I imagine that you have set up each EVENT as a separate PRODUCT. You can still use attributes if you set up just ONE product called "Equestrian Events", and then (using attribute CHECKBOXES and a TEXT FIELD) ask people to select each event (checkboxes) that they wish to enter. By using attribute pricing, each checkbox can be "priced".
When they have checked appropriate boxes, a TEXT field can be used to capture horse and rider names. Use the attribute COMMENT box to explain HOW they should list horse/rider combinations for their text inputs.
In this way, they can complete everything on ONE page, before they "Add to Cart".

Brilliant. Thanks, schoolboy.
