How to specify shipping for 1 item?

Hi folks! I am using 1.3.8a and i have a question about shipping. In my store, I have lots of items that I want the system to automatically calculate as it does now BUT I have several oversized products that need to have different shipping charges added to them. How can I change shipping charges on only several items?

I have read about per unit shipping and all but it seems that is for all items in your store? I have way too many items to set individual shipping on and it would not be ideal for shipping to multiple regions. I just need to simply over ride the defaut shipping on several items and add my own shipping fees per item!

Can anyone help me with an idea. (Please be descriptive...I'm not great with this kind of thing...LOL) :blush:
