Re: Trying to add text above footer
Thanks for the fast reply. I never had any luck inserting the text into that default template. I tried it so many times last night, publishing it to my cherry_zen folder, too, and the text would not show up on the main page.
Can I not just leave it this way, it looks like I want it to.
Thanks again for helping me last night. I was SO confused.
Re: Trying to add text above footer
Copy /includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_index_default.php to /includes/templates/cherry_zen/templates/tpl_index_default.php and add your text near the end of that file.
Re: Trying to add text above footer
i did that with no luck.
cherry zen doesn't have that index file, so i just edited and copied the default template, the exact one you are telling me to do.
i have some errands to run, but i'll work with it when i get home. maybe i didn't do what i THOUGHT i did
thanks so much, hope you're having a good morning!
Re: Trying to add text above footer
If you're adding your content in the location you show in post 14, and you save the edited file correctly, it will show up.
Re: Trying to add text above footer
Hi All,
Great advice from you guys.
I'm having a simliar problem. I'm looking to add more content to my home page site but want to do it at the bottom of the site just above the header.
As far as I can see the file to edit is tpl_index_default.php and save a copy into your template (so it overrides the default one)
BUT I'm not sure where to add the new content - what line and what code do I need.
Sorry if being a bit slow!
Re: Trying to add text above footer
You would probably want to add your content near the bottom of that file, just before or maybe just after the closing </div> of the center content. This assumes you want the new content only on the home page. If you want it on all pages, you would need to use a different file depending on your exact needs.
And be sure to save your edited file in a template override folder and not in /template_default/, so your changes are not erased when you upgrade to a new version of Zen Cart. If you are not familiar with the template override system, study the tutorials on it.
Re: Trying to add text above footer
If you do not file a customized version of Zen car will use the default version.
