Sold From Out of Stock and Disabled
How would ZC v157 be able to sell an item out of stock and also disabled?
No bug report.
No duplicate products. Could not even be found in the store.
Possibly, I chose to auto disable products when quantity set to zero?
I remember specifically disabling this product a couple months ago. Grr.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Sold From Out of Stock and Disabled
Is the version 1.5.7 base or one of the sub-versions?
What other mods are installed if any?
What are the settings of the first 3 options in admin->configuration->Stock?
Any indication if the purchase was a buy_now type? (not saying that this is a specific path, I just recall some discussion around it.) Such an option might be made available to customers by advertising with the buy now link included...
Re: Sold From Out of Stock and Disabled
v157b
Well, well, and there it is:
admin->configuration->Stock> Allow Checkout (allow customer to check out even if there is insufficient stock)
Lesson learned thanks MC
Re: Sold From Out of Stock and Disabled
Even though it's not searchable, the purchase of it might be a result of them having the item in their shopping basket from an older shopping session.
Re: Sold From Out of Stock and Disabled
Is this function in place by default to allow Pre-Orders?
My shop is all set otherwise. Thanks again!

Allowing one to checkout even if there is insufficient stock is not specifically for pre-orders. A store could pre-populste the available quantity with a known number (either number already expected or perhaps a large enough rounded number) to support pre-ordering. In this way the store would not specifically be set to allow overselling just to support pre-orders.
No, this setting is more for as it suggests, allowing product to be sold from the electronic site even if the inventory tracking indicates out-of-stock.
Some use this to support drop shipping, to simply make the sale because some items may not be here today, but will be tomorrow and need to maintain inventory. Can be used to indicate that shipping may take a little longer, whatever, you name your reason and use. The important part of the setting is that when it allows checkout with insufficient stock, then need to be sure that purchases are properly handled with the customer(s). Is obviously discouraging to purchase an item that says it is in stock to then find out that its not.
