Bettercategories sub category font weight
I am using better categories, and it seems as if the main font weight is tied into the sub category font weight when it comes to better categories? I need the top level font weight to be bold, where the subcategory weight i need to be normal in the css. my css is as follows:
/*
BetterCategoriesEzInfo v1.3.0.2 added 2006-06-22 gilby
Updated to v1.3.5 2006-09-19 gilby
*/
.betterCategories, .betterDocuments, .betterEzpages,
.betterInformation, .betterMoreinformation, .betterBestsellers {
border-top: none;
}
.betterCategories a, .betterCategories a:visited,
.betterDocuments a, .betterDocuments a:visited,
.betterEzpages a, .betterEzpages a:visited,
.betterInformation a, .betterInformation a:visited,
.betterMoreinformation a, .betterMoreinformation a:visited,
.betterBestsellers a, .betterBestsellers a:visited {
display: block;
background-color: none;
border-top: none ;
border-bottom:1px solid #000;
padding: 2px;
font-size: 11px;
font-weight: bold;
}
.betterCategories a:hover, .betterCategories a:active,
.betterDocuments a:hover, .betterDocuments a:active,
.betterEzpages a:hover, .betterEzpages a:active,
.betterInformation a:hover, .betterInformation a:active,
.betterMoreinformation a:hover, .betterMoreinformation a:active,
.betterBestsellers a:hover, .betterBestsellers a:active {
background-color: #ffffff;
font-weight: normal;
color:#9700ad;
}
*/
anyone know how to get the subcat weight to be normal?
Thnak you guys very much!

Re: Bettercategories sub category font weight
Locate this:
.betterCategories a, .betterCategories a:visited, .betterDocuments a, .betterDocuments a:visited, .betterEzpages a, .betterEzpages a:visited, .betterInformation a, .betterInformation a:visited, .betterMoreinformation a, .betterMoreinformation a:visited, .betterBestsellers a, .betterBestsellers a:visited {
border-bottom: 1px solid #000000;
border-top: medium none;
display: block;
font-size: 11px;
font-weight: bold;
padding: 2px;
}
- take the highlighed a away from above..
- will look like this:
- .betterCategories, .betterCategories a:visited, etc...etc..
Re: Bettercategories sub category font weight
I just did that and it didnt work... I left it to show you what wound up happening. I appreciate your help btw.
Re: Bettercategories sub category font weight
You would use the standard category type identifiers for distinctive styling, combined with .betterCategories:
.betterCategories .category-top {} regular top cats
.betterCategories .category-top .category-subs-parent {} top cats open to subs
.betterCategories .category-products {} subcats
.betterCategories .category-products .category-subs-selected {} open subcats
and a couple of others that you might not have.

ah hah! thats why i couldnt get it. because I wasnt adding .bettercategrories before it, I was going off the standard.category-products,..
one more question. I have .betterCategories .category-products a:hover {font-weight: normal;}
for the subcats, but it is still coming up bold when I hover? Any ideas on that one?
thank you guys very much for your help on this one...
Re: Bettercategories sub category font weight
Because
.betterCategories .category-products a:hover
means "the link inside .category-products inside .betterCategories" when the actual element is "the link named .category-products inside .betterCategories"
i.e.
.betterCategories a.category-products:hover

I found this thread and tried your tip. Thank you for explaining how it works. =]
