Is "Reset Pwd" the way for a logged-admin to change their password?
My admin user's password is about to expire and I was looking through the menu to see where I can change my current password. The only thing that looked remotely like a password change is the "reset pwd" button under the "Account" tab or in "Admin Access Management->Admin Users".
Am I just not seeing the "Change Password" function?
Re: Is "Reset Pwd" the way for a logged-admin to change their password?
The "Account" tab IS the logged-in admin user's "my account" area. And yes, that is ONE way they can change their password.
Another way is to simply let the password expire. Then when they next attempt to log in, they'll be informed that their password has expired and they need to select a new one as part of their login process.
I think you're under the assumption that an "expired password" means the account is permanently locked out and no longer valid. But that's not how any "password expiration" system works, at least I've ever seen one work that way in 20+ years of working with systems requiring login.
This confusion you're experiencing is further compounded by the use of an addon that tells you when your password is going to expire ... which is completely needless because of the way the system works. And based on wrong assumptions.

No such assumptions here! I was just expecting to see a "Change Password" link that would take me to a screen similar to the login/change-password screen.

New user here who would rather change my admin password now instead of waiting three months. A "temporary" (90-day) 12-digit password is ridiculous. So how do I go about this?

First, any system-issued "temporary" password is exactly that: temporary. It will immediately prompt you to change it upon first login.
Second, you can change your own password anytime by first logging in and then clicking the "Account" link in the top right corner, right beside the "Logoff" link, as described in my post above.

When I first signed in using the supplied name and password, I was not prompted to change the password and I'm stuck using the 12-digit password assigned by the Zen Cart.
When I go to "account" it opens a page called "admin account maintenance". The only name there is "admin" and a person from WD Web that set up my stuff, I guess. I am not there and I cannot change MY password.

Then check in Admin - Admin Access Management - Admin Users for your user name.
Re: Is "Reset Pwd" the way for a logged-admin to change their password?
MY name does not appear in the "admin users".
Re: Is "Reset Pwd" the way for a logged-admin to change their password?
I tried to "update" the admin users list to add myself and got an error message that I already was on the admin list, but my name isn't there. How does that work?

Appealing to the folks who set me up with Zen Cart got me listed as the admin user. I then was able to alter my password.
