quantity box to display 1 instead of blank -stock by attribs

I am using the stock by attribute module and added a drop down for 3 sizes and also a text quantity box.

No matter what I do, the quantity box is blank on the product page. but would like it to show 1 by default.

If a customer adds a product even when the quantity box is blank, it adds 1 unit to the shopping cart so no problem with functionality here but it just bugs me :yuck:

hope somebody knows how to resolve this issue.
