USPS Shipping Rate Change 1/21/2018 Is an update needed?
I haven't found any necessary changes ...
Our most used USPS quote for 4 ounces went from $4.27 down to $4.16 but the actual rate charged when purchasing that postage went from $2.61 up to $2.66. Not a big deal and assume it is a glitch between the USPS rate quote server and USPS postage server.
USPS First Class Package Service - Online rate quote
Hi Linda,
International shipping (Canada so far) is not offering first class option, only priority mail.
This might relate based on the updates:
Quote:
2.1.3 International Price Calculator API Updates (API=IntlRateV2, IntlRate)
1. First Class Mail International Content Updates: First Class Mail International Letters and Flats content limited to documents:
o IntlRateV2 requests containing a value (i.e. <ValueOfContents>= any value greater than zero), will no longer return the following First Class Mail International service options:
<Service ID="14"> <SvcDescription> First-Class Mail® International Large Envelope </SvcDescription>
<Service ID="13"> <SvcDescription>First-Class Mail® International Letter</SvcDescription>
Okay, I've reinstalled the usps shipping module. Here's what I now get:

The item in the cart is a 1 oz document (all I sell are documents -- patterns, magazines and books). No first class envelope is offered as a shipping option.
What you are showing looks like the only available option ...
While haven't gone through to see what it takes to identify in the module that the "value" of the contents is 0 instead of > 0, it does appear (pricing through the usps options on their website) that both First-Class Mail International Large Envelope and First-Class Mail International Letter still exist, just that they are not to have contents of value. That said, it doesn't make business sense to claim that a fabricated/paid for item does not have a value and further to throw on my agreement that the options presented are effectively the only available for commerce (as compared to say a personal letter).
Wow, that stinks. Okay guess my international customers are going to be paying through nose. Assuming I still have international customers
Zen Cart 1.5.5e, Responsive Classic Clone, PHP 5.6.31, USPS 2015-05-31. USPS First-Class Mail Parcel is not being offered on my site. From the log (see below), it looks like the rate came back at $3.50, but it's not displayed by the shipping estimator.
First-Class Parcel and Priority Flat-Rate Envelope are the only methods configured for in-country purchases.

What happens if you try the current build: USPS build: 2017-09-16
Cindy, did you install the USPS update back in Sept? There was a reported slight name change to the RETAIL first class names which affected quotes. Online pricing was not affected so I did not update at that time.
Linda beat me to it.
Thanks for the update that the current version is working for you ... :smile:
And you installed this one?

Hate when that happens ... :blink:
All better, after I re-aligned the USPS update with my observer's "requirements" and figured out the updated USPS nomenclature.
Happy days!
Linda, I received an email from stamps.com:
Stamps.com customers can immediately use the new service by simply selecting “First-Class Mail International Large Envelope/Flats” as the mail service inside the platform.
They have worked out a deal with usps to allow the use of international envelopes for first class shipping of merchandise. Problem is, it's still not offered as an option on checkout to my customers. Any ideas?
So far no I cannot get a quote from USPS on the Large Envelopes ... :blink:
I think there is a bit of confusion here. Stamps.com has contracted a "Freight consolidator" for the service. The article attached below is from ShipStation but since Stamps.com owns ShipStation, the article is from Stamps.com. The service is independent of any USPS quote servers.
The label printed will NOT be to the intended customer, it will be addressed to a processing facility which will then relabel it.
Link to entire article with the detailed explanation.Quote:
Any label created through ShipStation that meets the following criteria will be a Global Advantage Program (GAP) label:
- Service = USPS First Class Mail Int'l
- Package type = Large Envelope/Flat
- Package Contents = anything other than Documents
The labels generated for these shipments will be domestic labels that direct the packages to the nearest international sorting facility, where the packages will be relabeled and forwarded to their final, international destination.
Here is an example of what the label provided through ShipStation will look like (the customer name, company, province, and country code are provided on the bottom right of the label):
I'm still having problems. I'm now set up to use the freight forwarding with stamps.com. Package goes to US forwarder who ships it to the international addressee. Significantly less than usps rates. However, international customers aren't able to choose the large envelope/flat option at checkout. Is there a workaround for this?
For International Large Envelopes, you have to force the value to 0.00 ...
Code:$submission_value = ($insurable_value > $max_usps_allowed_price) ? $max_usps_allowed_price : $insurable_value;
// Force $0.00 - on Intrenational
$submission_value = 0;
Linda, sorry to be dumb but where would I make that change?
Around line 1241 of the USPS shipping module ...
NOTE: forcing the value to 0.00 means that it cannot quote with insurance ...
// Force $0.00 - on Intrenational
$submission_value = 0;
Spelled like that or "international "?
Typo on my part ... :blink:
Turn the Debug on USPS to Logs ... try a quote then Zip the shipping logs that are created in /logs an attach them to your next post ...
File attached. Let me know if I didn't do this correctly!
The maximum width for Large Envelopes is 0.75 ...
A million thanks! I had the dimensions set to the defaults. Which say "in most cases, these never have to be changed"
Thanks for the update that these two changes fixed things for you ...
