What do the Values mean under the Configuration Menu?
Im hoping somone can give me a quick explanation of what the values mean under the configurations menu on the admin page. I was looking at the Configuration menu, and there are all these categories to edit certain things in the store, and i understand what some of them are, but what the are the value numbers? How do i know what number means what? Take this for example,
This is under the configuration menu and the category Product Listing:
Display Product Model. Value: 0
Display Product Name. Value: 2
Display Product Product Price/Add to cart. Value: 3
And then there are some that have values of 125 and 130, some have a + and some have the word true. How are you supposed to know what the values mean?

Re: What do the Values mean under the Configuration Menu?
For this set of items, a "0" means do not display, and a number is the sort order for the item display.
The model will not show, the name will show, and the price/add will be to the right of the name.
In some cases, there is more information on what the settings mean when you go to edit one.
The admin is somewhat of a hodge-podge, having been built in bits by many people over the years. It is scheduled for a complete overhaul after some critical customer interface upgrades.

Hi Glenn, thank you for the quick reply
so if im understanding this correctly, a 0 means it will not display or inother words means "no"?
Is there a table or somthing where i can view what the numbers in the values mean? 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.......
Re: What do the Values mean under the Configuration Menu?
The numbers mean different things for different sets of elements. Often a 0 means off, false or no, and 1 means on, true or yes.
In the case of sort orders, they are relative to the other numbers in their set. If display order number 1 is missing, element 2 will be in the first position.
The display description setting (defaults to 150) is the number of characters (rounded to whole words); 0 is none.
In some cases, 0 is the normal store setting, and numbers have specific control meanings. These will be described in the setting details.

As Glenn said, if you actually click on the particular setting, the help text in the edit box to the right of that setting will tell you what each option means.
