Help writing a custom SQL query please
Hi,
I need to custom-modify my ZC shop to make each category, when browsed, display all the products from all the 'child' sub-categories below it.
I guess what I need to do is write my own SQL query, to return all the products from each sub-category under the current category... in a single data structure format that can be used by "product_listing.php".
However I don't know much about SQL or about the ZC database format... which is where you (hopefully) come in! Many many thanks in advance as this would help me a lot...

There is a commercial help area on this site
Re: Help writing a custom SQL query please
I very much doubt that even an experienced database administrator / developer could manage this purely in SQL. And it's absolutely not an area to get into if you are not an experienced PHP/MySQL developer.
This will involve a "tree walk" to recursively traverse the category structure. There are some Zen Cart functions that might help, but that would require working out how they work and what results they produce, which in this complex area would be a pretty major challenge in its own right.
I think that Kobra's right to point you towards the Commercial Help Wanted section.

I see... didn't realize it was that complex, since the "New items" display seems to do something quite similar (though it's random and limits the number of results). Thanks anyway!
