Re: Categories Dressing
HI all,
I have just installed this add on, I think it's just what I have been looking for...however I don't know where to start to customize it. It makes my head spin...can someone help?
I want to list category types into their own boxes. For example:
Makeup
Jewlery
Shoes
:frusty:

Re: Categories Dressing
How do I determine which categories will be under certain headings? Please...anyone.

Re: Categories Dressing
Let's see your site, to see what categories you have. I will also need to know which categories you want to group together.
You group categories under a heading first by giving them all sort orders in admin > Catalog > Categories/Products > edit product. Then make the first product in the group start a new group, as the readme.html describes.

Re: Categories Dressing
Ahhhh thank you. I've figured out the heading I want to use for my categories. Altough I have not set up any yet because I wanted to make sure I could understand this mod first.
For now I'm playing with the category of testing with a sub category and product named testing as well.
I just want to list the cateogry header and the links shown to be the subcategories. I can't figure it out....
What is the easiest way to do this? Thank you!

Re: Categories Dressing
Do you want to show the customized heading (no link), and the subcats below it? And hide the top category? It can be done with settings in categories_dressing_defines.php, as long as you want all categories to behave the same.

Re: Categories Dressing
Yes that's what I am trying to do.

Re: Categories Dressing
From the readme:
define('CAT_BOX_ACTIVE_LEVEL', 'active|highest_level|deepest_level');
* The "active" field controls whether categories outside the current active tree will display: 0=all tops/1=full active tree only/2=active tree only (all tops when no cat selected)/3=full active tree, others limited per level controls/4=like 3, active branches only/5=like 1, no tops.
* The "highest_level" field controls whether top categories will display: 0=all levels/1=no topcats/etc.
* The "deepest_level" field controls whether subcategories will display: 1=only first subcats/2=first & second subcats/.../9=all levels down to 9.
Try
define('CAT_BOX_ACTIVE_LEVEL', '0|1|9');
This should show the subcategories always, but not the top categories.
You will need to use the "chcategories" option for this to work correctly.

Re: Categories Dressing
I have seen this. I would remove the "//" marks to enable this correct? When I do this I have nothing. it's saved right now, you can see what happens...
I just don't understand.
But I bet it' this chcategories that's making it messed up...what is that?
