Shopping cart won't empty after check out
I am doing some testing and make a purchase on my new site, but even after checking out and confirming payment, going to PayPal, confirming payment there and completing everything I go back to shopping cart and the items are still in there.
How can I fix this?

Which version of ZC are you using?
How was the installation performed?
If the site is live then please provide a link (you can paste the link without the 'dots' in the URL if you don't want spiders to find the site - eg www my site dot com).

Thanks for any help here. if someone wants to create an account and try and by something, just put a comment in the checkout page "test-please refund" and I will refund your money back through paypal right away. Just to see how it works.

Created an account and confirmed details. It gave me an "Internal Server Error - 500" (host issue?)
Hit the back button on my browser and all my details were there. Then went through checkout and paid by PayPal (order #8). The redirection back to your site has taken "ages" to respond.
Checked the cart and found it empty - no problem there.
Try to do an order yourself using a different computer, it should work just as well.

Yes it takes for ever to redirect back to my site after purchase, and then I get the 500 Error
I am not getting order confirmation emails either, can I change that so I get an email when someone makes a purchase.

Go to Admin > Configuration > E-Mail Options and make necessary changes.

I did that and everything is turned on with accurate information, and I still am NOT getting anything.
I sent a test email directly from another account and it went through so I know the email is working, but nothing from my site.

one thing i have noticed in your source code is
"http://paracordwraps .com//"
it has a double / at the end
check your configure file, there should be no trailing / on the end
like so

That's important information that should have been mentioned at the beginning.

That's because the 500 error is stopping the orders from completing. There's no email to send because no order is being completed.

Yes: fix the 500 error, and the emails will send.
"500 Internal Server Error" errors are triggered by the *server*, and NOT by Zen Cart. As such, Zen Cart never even knows they happened. Thus, you must rely on the webserver's error logs which record the specific cause of the error. If you don't know how to find that information, contact your hosting company since they're the ones who control how that's all set up and can access all server logs.

I might add that I (as a customer) did not receive an order confirmation email either. See DrByte's post re 500 error. PayPal sent their emails as usual (order and refund).
