Sub Total not matching actual total of products in order

I am using Zen Cart 1.3.7.1 and something very strange happened with just one order.

In the order there is only one product, at a quantity of 1, the product costs $42.88. And this is displayed as the cost of the product ordered in the order information page.

Under sub-total though it has $223.28
It has a separate line for shipping at $9.29
There is no line for Sales tax, as it is out of state.

This is the amount that the customer was charged through our payment gateway.

Is there any reason anyone can think of why this might happen? I have tried to re-create the problem by trying to purchase this item and it works fine for me. Please let me know if there is any further information I can provide. Or if there is a good way to troubleshoot something like this.
