Can't Do Discount for Gift Certificates

Hi,

I'm trying to do a promotion and sell $55 gift certificates for $25. For some reason it's not letting me apply discount codes to gift certificates. Can someone please help me with this.

How quickly do you want to go bankrupt?

I buy a $50 Gift voucher for $40.

So I have $50 worth of credit in your store.

I spend $10 buying a product

I use the remaining $40 to buy another $50 voucher.

I spend $10 of that on another product, and with the remaining $40 I buy another $50 voucher.

So I then take $10 from that and buy ANOTHER product, and the remaining $40 I use to buy yet another $50 voucher.

After a few hours, I have ordered $12,500 dollars worth of goods from your site for just $10 (ALL PAID FOR QUITE LEGITIMATELY)... and I still have a gift voucher worth $50.

I don't believe you have thought this through.

FORTUNATELY FOR YOU... the developers HAVE thought this through, and made it impossible to sell electronic gift vouchers at a discount.

There's going to be a limit of 1 use per code. That would not allow them to keep using the discount code over and over. Am I missing something?

Did you ever figure out how to make this happen? I am interested in selling gift certificates on my site which are worth more than the customer pays.. i.e. $25 for a $50 gift certificate...

You can't do that in a stock Zencart installation. Ajeh has an idea here:
