paypal charging more then order total?

hey
im having an issue with paypal
order total is say $1.41
it confirms to customer this is the total. till they click to paypal then the total changed to 1.56

they end up paying 1.56 to paypal
cart invoice says total 1.41
yet gross amount says 1.56

when i look on my paypal account they have been infact charged 1.56

why is there a a higher amount charged then what i have my price set too?

i have my site down till this is fixed.

in the pp module settings, enable logging and run a couple of test purchases

ok so i did another order myself
same item as befor
did the same thing changed some how from 1.41 to 1.56
i set the log to email me. i got a few emails from it. near as i can see its telling me the cart is telling paypal to charge the 1.56 but why when the item is 1.25
tax is 13% thats $0.16
total is 1.41
but how does it get to be 1.56 ?
i have my paypal sent to add tax to people that just send me money. unless some how its adding tax to this total from the cart? altho it should be 16 cents more making it 1.57 unless its rounded down? ...

even that being said looking on the paypal invoice it does not show any sales tax being charged so i cant see that being the case.

im lost. let me know if you need any other info

now i click confirm order.
paypal opens
asking to either log in or enter credit card

and says

wow.... i feel like a tool
the issue was this
i changed the payment accepted type to Canada funds
but left the cart default to US funds
so based on the currencies it was set wrong ....

now i changed to default to CAD and all is good. i just gotta find the current rates as the CAD is worth more then this default

Try
admin > localization > currencies > "UpDate"

CAD should then be "1.00" and others adjusted

looks like the cad $ is worth more then the us$
i did have it set to us but when i transfer from paypal to my bank account im having to pay about $65-70 on $1000 transfer

i remember the good ol days where $300 us ended up being $500 and some canadian ... i guess it good that canada is keeping strong. but not if 70% of your customers are US
