restoring database
hi,
i tried to do a test site on my system using easyphp. first i backup my online store database with its own unique username and password. but the test site on my system is using root as the local host, admin as the username and password.
when i tried to restore my online database to the test site on my system, there is failure error code 1. is it because of the different username and password?
if yes, how should i change either of them so that i can have experiment how to restore backups on v1.3.8?
I tried restoring the backup to the online store (of course they are of the same username and password), and it works okay... so i am wondering how come on my test site on my pc is not working...
thanks for any advice. i am really stuck in the upgrading nightmare... dunno how to go about doing it...

Re: restoring database
hi
I'm not using phpmyAdmin to backup or restore database. I am just using an Add-in Backup MySQL from the download section to do the backup/restore steps.
If I install a clean version of v1.3.8a, then install that add-in, use this tool to restore my old database built under the v1.3.7, is it ok to work this way?
please, any advise is deeply appreaciated.
thanks,
natalia

Re: restoring database
DB user & pass are not contained in the DB backup structure
If you have copied site files check your configure.php files for the DB info...
With phpmyadmin and most default installs you need to select export and check 4 additional boxes
Add DROP TABLE
Add IF NOT EXISTS
Complete inserts
Extended inserts
Then save as a file etc...
Try this and see if it still errors

Guess not if you are getting an error
