Thanks, but when I click 'check for updates' in my Zen cart it says I have the latest version. can I override this?

You said you have v1.3.9b.
You can download v1.3.9d and use the doc files in the /docs/ folder to identify the changed files in v1.3.9c and v1.3.9d, and upload just those changed files to your server. (if you've made changes to any of those files, you should of course merge your customizations into the new versions of the files.)

Thanks for your help, upgrade and problem solved.:clap:
One last thing to sort. When the system sends the confirmation email to the customer it sends it from me, my full name, then the orders email address. I cannot for the life of me find where I have pout my full name in the database, where would that be? I did at first out it in as the store owners but I have since changed that to the company name, has the system kept that previous entry for some reason and can I get to change it?

Zen Cart only uses the information in the Admin->Configuration->Email Options and Admin->Configuration->My Store for sending emails.

Funny number 2 then with the email name usage, another email order confirmation was preceeded with the name I use as my log in user name, this name is used in no other location?
