Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Just found this thread tonigt and had everthing installed very quickly! I love readme file with clear direction!
I do have a couple of directions:
When I configure GFF i use my google base username and PW so where do I enter the FTP username and PW?
The mod produces the feed - I was able to view the file. When I upload the product feed to Google Froogle Merchants I get the following:
Froogle Data Feeder v.1.3.8 04.07.2007 16:50 started 2007/07/04 21:51:03
Feed file - /home/content/p/i/p/pipsmker/html/feed/froogle.txt
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
Is that what I should see?
Finally, when I click on "NOTE: You may view Froogle Merchants FTP content." I get the following:
Froogle Merchants FTP content:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Connection failed: uploads.google.com
I assume this can be fixed based on the answer to question 1. Am I correct?
Thanks for the help and the great work! PGT

Follow the steps in the readme to create your FTP account at google.base.com
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
v1.4.0b GOOGLE FROOGLE FEEDER
GOOGLE BASE ADWORDS NOW SUPPORTED!
1. Added Google Base Adwords functionality;
2. Only enabled adwords for selected categories;
Installation Instructions for Google Base Adwords (also found in readme.txt):
Google offers the ability to create adwords campaigns for your products using your products link as your landing page.
The keywords are auto generated by Google and maintained by Google to optimize the number of clicks.
Google Adwords will only create ad campaigns for the first 100 items.
However, setting ad groups (not currently supported in v1.4.0), will allow creating landing pages and ads for groups of items. You can choose which 100 items are included by selecting your bottom-level category names in the admin->configuration.
This release is beta and will become more optimized in future releases.
1. Login to base.google.com, go to settings and activate your Google Base Adwords Campaign;
2. Update to latest version of Google Froogle Feeder and activate Google Base Adwords from the admin->configuration;
3. Set the maximum cost-per-click (min. 0.05), the visible URL of your website to display in your ads, and the category names to include separated by commas;
4. Before generating your feed file, please read the following:
Google Adwords consist of 4 lines: a title, line 1 of ad, line 2 of ad, and the visible url of your website;
The Google Froogle Feeder auto generates the first 3 lines of the advertisement using values that you have set for your products:
- title = the first 25 characters (whole words only) of your products title (i.e. Dell Inspiron 6000 Desktop Computer -> Dell Inspiron 6000);
- line 1 = "[manufacturer] [model]" (i.e. Samsung 931BW);
- line 2 = "Only $[price]!" (i.e. Only $24.99!);
For optimal results, place significant information at the beginning of your product titles to be autogenerated into the ad;
5. Generate your feed file and upload to google base;
UPCOMING RELEASES:
I will add a counter that will let you know how many of your items have been enabled for google base adwords. Adgroups will also be something that I want to work on, but will require additional aid.
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
numinix-
I have the account set up in google base. Is there somewhere in Zen Cart I need to add the user name / pw? Does it go in the GF Config? If so where? I am not sure as to what I am missing. PGT
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
By username and PW I am referring to the set for my FTP. I have my google base creds in the config GUI.
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Your Google Base FTP username and password go in the GGF Configuration. Those are the only username and password that you need. Your Google Account username and password are completely separate.
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Got it! I have ensured that I am using my correct user name / pw for the FTP portion of Google Base in my cart by opening the FTP window within Google with the same creds.
When I click on Step 2 I get the following:
Froogle Data Feeder v.1.3.8 04.07.2007 16:50 started 2007/07/05 05:57:19
Feed file - /home/content/p/i/p/pipsmker/html/feed/froogle.txt
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
When i click on NOTE: You may view Froogle Merchants FTP content I get tehe following:
Froogle Merchants FTP content:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Connection failed: uploads.google.comWhere am I going wrong?
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Does it complete the upload for you?
That second link is not important and has existed from before my updates.
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
The upload does not complete. I verified by signing in to the Google Base ftp and no files exist and my store items do not shop in the google base.
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
PastGen,
What worked for me was this.
After I generated the Froogle.txt file, I downloaded it to my PC, and used the upload feature on Google Base to upload the file.
I have 393 items right now, and when I tried it from ZC I didn't see my upload even after 3 or 4 hours, but when I uploaded directly, I began to see the items on the "my items" base list within minutes.
I don't know why that's the case, and this defeats the whole scheduling aspect of automating the feed. But that's what I had to do.
At least you can get your items uploaded and work the rest out later.
