The error was being cased by two extra lines at the end of one of my side box files....

After installing the debug utility (thanks to the advice of DrByte) I was able to isolate what internal error message zen cart was generating in reference to my issue...
i hope some one can tell me...

I am currently manually replacing...

So i put on the default template....and the problem stopped. So that def narrows down my suspicions as to it being caused by an override file.
