There are some subtle file differences, but the mod was nicely commented and not hard to merge at...

Possibly so ...lol. Having to merge each file is one thing, however I do think some of the routines will have to be rewritten in order for it to function 100% properly.

SuperOrders requires core edits to be made in step 2 and 3. The file includes/classes/order.php is a mandatory edit, so you may want to winmerge it as there appear to be some additional core changes...
