How do (can) I stop all this related image stuff?

I've searched around here and see that I'm not the only one who appears to have experienced this...

This is what's just happened.

I've just added a product that has an image file named sp1447.jpg

There are products already added that have image files named sp14472.jpg, sp14473.jpg,...

I want GBP so I've set:

admin>configuration>my store>Switch To Default Language Currency = false

and

admin>configuration>localisation>GB Pound to be default

I use a spreadsheet to calculate Royal Mail's new rates for the long lists of
international rates; I need...

... and that day came sooner than I thought.

Now I've got it working I see that big_royal_mail_2.0 is writing to shipping_method strings such as:

Royal Mail 2^nd Class <i...

In the absence of any other suggestions I've simply increased the size of shipping_method, which gets over the problem.

It does not, however, explain why a sting shorter than the maximum...

Since this morning I've run the query independently of ZenCart and it updates perfectly: so there is nothing wrong with the query or the MySqul table.

I've also reinstalled Flat Rate and Per Item...
