Found what I was looking for in tpl_index_default. Didn't need to use an if statement or anything elaborate.
A simple include("....") was all that was required.

I re-uploaded header.php. Problem solved!
Thanks a lot for that idea (I thought it was a more complex problem than it was).
It was a clean install on a new server on a new MySql dbase. After that, I altered the config files to use the previous database.
When I revert back to the classic template, the problem goes...
