    Default Writeable configure.php warnings

    Hello,

After completing a new install of Zen Cart and changing configure.php to 444 I still get the warning messages. I even creted the file for work arounds.

So before I delve into any further details, may I ask is a restart of any sort required?

I'm using Linux and Bash shell so I can tell with my own eyes that there are no write permissions given to this file.

    Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem, but I don't know if it's for the same reason. Since your problem is solved, I'm going to threadjack instead of starting a new thread.

I just moved to a new web host (medialayer), and I have the same problem. configure.php is 444, but I am still getting the writeable message. I suspect it is because medialayer uses phpsuexec and all scripts run under the domain account username instead of 'nobody', so the files in my folders will always be writeable by the script, no matter what permissions they have. If this is the problem, how do I get rid of the warning? If this is NOT the problem, what else could it be?

There are two config files that need to have permissions changed. One is admin/includes the other is includes/

Did you change permissions on both?

A link to your site would also reveal the message to anyone who wants to respond with help for you.

mind if I hi jack this thread as well, seems pointless setting up a new one.

I too am getting that the configure.php files are writeable message, I have reinstalled everything several times, cleared down my databases and even tried on different domains and using different versions of Zencart. Also tried changing file permissions via FTP and Shell Access (using PuTTy). Even my webhost says the permissions seems fine. I am at a loss to why this is happening, I had Zencart successfully installed and functioning last year and this message just appeared, now I can't get rid of it.

I can only presume its something that my webhost has done serverside. Any ideas anyone???......my test site link is http://www.aromancaweb.co.uk/zen

    Thanks in advance

Do not do this via Dremweaver, or your local FTP app as it will not work.

    You need to:
Log into your hosts control panel
    Access the file manager
    Select configure.php in includes > configure.php
    Change it's permissions to 444
Then go into your Admin folder
    Select configure.php in includes > configure.php
    Change it's permissions to 444

if you don't know how to access your file manager via the control panel, speak to your host.

    Thanks for your reply Bigbadboy.

I have tried every way possible of changing the file permissions, both from FTP and server side.

I have managed to resolve this issue, I found this a post in the forums which has solved it.

    Many thanks
