Sidebar Help?

Is there a way to cuztomize my sidebars so that they only show data from some categories and not others?

For instance, I input about 150 new products this month, but many are in a "bargain bin" category that I don't want advertised as heavily as my regular merchandise. Can I modify the "new products" sidebar to not show items in that bargain bin category? Or, on the other side of that coin, to show items only in a specific category?

Without writing a bunch of custom code for this - you can massage what shows up by changing the added date in your DB and then the admin > config > maxium values > New Product Listing - Limited to ... > select a range

But thats just a quick fix, right? It won't carry over to next month when I input a bunch of new products - or will it?

You will have to manage the add date as you add items that you do not want listed as new or are to be "Bargin Bin" items and manually
