How do I display SHIPPING on SHOPPING CART?

To me it is just strange that the shopping cart do not include the SHIPPING charges. Customer have to login to find out that he has to pay something that he haven't seen in the shopping cart. My question is HOW DO I DISPLAY THE SHIPPING CHARGES IN THE SHOPPING CART? Thank you for your help.

There is a shipping estimator which will display the shipping charges for the items in the cart. Shipping does display during the checkout sequence.

You can either have this work with the customer clicking the Shipping Estimator button or to always show by configuring this in: Configuration ... Shipping Packaging ...

0= Off
1= Display as Button on Shopping Cart
2= Display as Listing on Shopping Cart Page

NOTE: a disadvantage to Always showing the Shipping is when using a shipper like UPS, USPS, FedEx etc. and the Real Time Quote server is down or slow ...

This would make your shopping_cart page delay or not display at all due to time out issues because the Real Time Quote server(s) have problems ... problems might be a 1-90 second delay, each, or not responding at all ...

NOTE: when a Real Time Server is down, you can always remove it until it is functioning again ... usually 3 minutes to 3 days ...

Thank you for your help. In my situation I have a flat shipping fee for any destination in the world (international shipping and I have only international shipping). No Tax. No Shipping Estimates. It's just a flat fee for any kind of package for any item(s) and any destination. As result I don't need the shipping estimator at all. I just need the shipping fee to be calculated and displayed as SHIPPING TOTAL in the SHOPPING CART. From settings I can't do this and to me if I set to display the shipping estimator in any form it's a lot worst than simply adding a line of text saying the shipping is X for any destination and it will be calculated in the next step. This is what I done, but it is not very professional. I think everything has something to do with the checkout routine which is not very convenient.

So what I need is the shipping fee to be displayed on the SHOPPING CART and CALCULATED as shipping TOTAL. I think I missed the keyword "calculated". Any help now?

The easiest way is to customize the template for the Shipping Estimator:
tpl_modules_shipping_estimator.php

And take out the section or comment out the section for the display of where a person wants to ship from and just display the Shipping Estimator on the shopping_cart page with the setting in Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... and setting it to 2:

Yes, it is simple to do as you said, but it will be nothing more than a piece of text. It will still not display the TOTAL amount or add the shipping to the SUBTOTAL (which for some reason it's understood as the total price of all items in cart).

In the end it doesn't matter too much, I can live without it. I assume that something can be done as taking the value of subtotal variable and add the value of shipping variable or even directly the number that represents that value and make an addition. Than display that new value in the shopping cart. It should be something basic, but I thought somebody has the solution already and save me some time.
