Database shrinking!

I've just done a regular backup of my database using the 'Database Backup Manager - MySQL' mod and after a few months of adding products and seeing the database size grow.
Today's backup is half the size of the last one and that's after adding another batch of products.

The shop seems to show all the products that have been added.

Does anyone know of any reason why this has happened, I just keep thinking that I've lost some data somewhere but I can't see it.

There is a table for admin activity log that gets large and you are warned in your admin to "reset" it - might you have done that?

I did reset it a couple of days ago after the warning, I have done this once before and don't remember the database getting smaller.
Does this activity log data get stored in the database, if so then should I be concerned about clearing it?

This is normal. The admin activity log records all admin activity as an audit trail, but can get very large, very quickly on an active site. So clearing it will certainly reduce the size of your database and usually by a substantial amount.

I thought I had lost some my store's data and couldn't work out where from.
