Coupon Restriction Issue

Hi,

We have a consignment store and have set up a hidden category in which all of our designers have their own category. Each of these designer categories is the master category for their products.

The restriction issue we are having is this:
A designer creates a coupon. They go to the restriction screen and under category restrictions they select their own category and allow all. Then under product restrictions they choose the product(s) to deny.

When setup this way the customer gets a message that says:
This coupon code is not valid for any product currently in your cart. couponname

As far as I know we do not have any issues with coupons set up any other way.

Any ideas?

Have they added a Categories Top Deny to the Discount Coupons?

There is a flakey bug on Discount Coupons and linked categories that occures from time to time ...

If the Category exists in multiple categories and the master_categories_id is a category with the categories_id being higher than the other categories_id, example the master_categories_id is 27 and the Product is in categories_id 27, 32, 10 then it can fail the test ...

I do not have a solution to this quirky bug at this time other than to work at altering the categories_id around to change the order ...

No, the only restriction is an allow to the master category #238

If the Category exists in multiple categories and the master_categories_id is a category with the categories_id being higher than the other categories_id, example the master_categories_id is 27 and the Product is in categories_id 27, 32, 10 then it can fail the test ...

In this case the master category id is 238 and the only other category it is linked to is 66. This would not appear to match the bug you spoke of.

When setting up a Discount Coupon, always add a Deny Top Category ...

See if that helps ... otherwise, you found the quirky little bug ...

NOTE: 66 is less than 238 ... 66 is not allowed, pop goes the weasel ...

Hi Linda,

I have not been able to do anything with this and although I don't believe that I have made any code changes it would appear that I can't use any coupons.

Everything I try gives me the error:
This coupon code is not valid for any product currently in your cart. couponname

What do you think I did to cause this

My problems do coincide with a recent USPS shipping addition to our shipping options but I don't see how that would have any effect.

I'd have to see your Admin to play with this, but I am pretty sure it is the issue of multiple categories where the master_categories_id is a higher numerical value than the Linked categories_id and it tests the Linked categories and flags it as failed ...

Without actually seeing the raw data on everything and your Admin, this is hard to say for sure on this one ...

I have encountered the same issue as described when starting this thread. Ajeh, what do you mean by Category Top Deny?

Set the Category ... Top ... to Deny ...

why Coupon is not forking for a Product which is assign to multiple Category. I set top Category to Deny and category "A" to allow. So in that case those products in cart will got Discount which are belongs to "A" Category. Now suppose, a product is assign to Multiple Category like Category "A" and Category "B". in that case is there any problem in Coupon Restriction.? i am getting Problem. Can you tell me how to solve..?

Please make a note, One category may have a number o Sub Category, Like Category "A" have two Subcategory which are "B" & "C".. and in that case ParentID/Master Category id which is "A" is lower then its Subcategory. Because We create Category 1st and Subcategory last. In that case is a product Have multiple Category/Subcategory. Dose Coupon work properly..?? I am also getting Error in this Case. Could you at least tell me where to Change or modify...???

Since Coupon Module is belong to Zen Cart core Module, Its Tuff separate for modification.

Its become a vital Issue for most of the Client..
