Product price entry in wrong currency

I have had a problem in setting up some products (i am a Zen newbie) whereby the price I have entered when setting up the products does not display correctly in the store.

I have done some playing around and discovered that if I (whilst in the store) change my currency to US Dollar the price displays perfectly. Trouble is, my default currency is GBP (as my store is UK based). How do I change the system so that I can enter prices as GBP when creating products please?

EDIT: Problem solved. For anybody else having a similar problem : In admin/localization/currencies, the default GBP currency needed to be set to a rate of 1.
