Editing a template

Hi,

This is probably a dumb question but here goes anyway. I am just setting up my zen cart and wondering if it's okay to take someone else's template and completely make it your own as far as colors and stuff like that. Don't want to step on any toes!

All the FREE templates in the downloads section are under the GNU license and you can use them as a base and make your own.

You can't get someone else's template unless they make the files available (unless it is a purely CSS template), and since Zen Cart originates as open source, they cannot control further distribution or modification.

Images in a template may well be copyrighted, and a design can be as well. If you make your own template based on another but with significant differences, you should be ok. And of course, the free templates are intended to be used by other people.

Hey thanks! I had a feeling it would be okay but just wanted to be sure. I am off to start modifying!!! The zen cart looks quite a bit easier than the agora cart I used before.
