Default Apply GC Balance To Order By Default?

    Hello everyone,

I have searched to find an answer for this and can't find it so it's been covered before I apologize in advance.

I'd like to any Gift Certificate balance to be applied to an order by default instead of making the customer have to enter the amount they want to apply. I'm fine letting them zero it out if they want, but I'd like the cart to by default assume they want to use any gift certificate balance on the order.

Thanks in advance for any help!
    Darren

Default Re: Apply GC Balance To Order By Default?

Grandma comes in and buys $500.00 worth of GVs and sends $250 to Tiny Tim ...

She then spies a great product to buy before sending the other half to little Tommy and goes to check out ...

Grandma, not being quite the woman she once was, misses the fact that she just paid for most of her order with her own GV that she was going to send to little Tommy ...

Are you sure that is the best solution vs changing the display to highlight things in perhaps red text instead?

I believe it would be easier to default to the gift certificate balance. I understand we can highlight the area more, that's not a problem but I think as far as our customer base goes that most people won't be keeping a Gift Certificate balance in their account that they don't want to use. Your example goes both ways, grandma gets a gift certificate and then goes to check out not realizing her order just went 100% on her credit card.

    Thanks,
    Darren

Should of let the wolf eat grandma ...

This would have to be customized in the code and I don't have things handy to do so at this moment ...

If I get some time I will look into this further and see what I can come up with, if someone doesn't beat me to the punch ...

Thanks, I'm looking at the code myself but I'm much more a web designer with limited code experience! Any help is appreciated.
