    Default No public_html folder

When I am in filezilla and I click on the little + by the web directory on the right, it opens up some folders but no public_html folder is there?
I have folders called private, vti bin, vti cnf, vti log, vti pvt, but no public.
I have been advised to do this by steve:

In the top box on the right, there will usually be a folder with a + to the left of it. Click the + to expand the tree. One of the folders below will, in most cases, be public_html. This is your 'root' directory. Create a new folder under public_html for your Zencart installation. This is where i cant find public.

Find the Zencart zip file in the Local site and drag it to the directory you created on your website. I did this ok and put it in a new directory i called store.

Open a browser, go to your site's control panel and open the File Manager. Yeah managed that one ok.

Find the folder you made and the Zencart zip file, highlight the file, and click on Extract. (It may be called something else). Yeah I extracted it.

After the zip file unzips, go back to Filezilla, refresh it, and the files should be in public_html/yournewfolder/zen-cart-v1.38a-full-fileset -somedate.zip. This is where it went wrong 'cos i didn't have a public file!!

Select that folder, and move (drag and drop) all the files and folders to your folder, then delete the (now empty) zen-cart-v1.38 folder. Now im really confused!

I think i need to start again. Shall i wipe zencart from my file manager in my control panel and have a go doing something else you can advise me on?

    Desperate help needed please.

You probably don't need a "public_html" folder because your hosting account already forces your FTP program into that folder automatically.

And it's probably not called "public_html" anyway, on a Windoze host. (more likely htdocs or wwwroot). But, since you're likely already "in" it, just put your Zen Cart files there directly.

So does that mean that when im in filezilla i just drag and drop the zipped-up zencart folder straight onto the directory that says web, or do i add a new folder in that web directory and name it something like shop/catalog and then drag and drop zencart into that??

You may have to ask your hosting company where exactly you need to put your files. *Every* host seems to do things differently.

And ... you'll have to deal with unzipped files ... Zen Cart doesn't unzip anything for you automatically.
