How is this attribute switch achieved?

I'm building a jewelry site for a client where each piece of jewelry will be available in 10 to 20 bead colors. I've been wondering how to best present this to customers visually. This site does exactly what I would like. Click on a color swatch to see the image change. Does any one know how this attribute switch can be achieved with Zen cart?

Something like the image click part of it can be done with the AJAX Image Switcher mod. Otherwise, I think it will take some custom javascript coding.
