Same image for multiple products

Hi, I've no problem with adding extra images per product but what I would like to have is an image which is common to several products without having to give the image several names, ie duplicating it, in order for it to show up on each product page.

To use an example, suppose I have several products : smallhouse, bighouse and biggerhouse, and an image of a door which is the same, whatever the type of house. I could name the "door" image as follows in order for it to show up on each product page, smallhouse_01.jpg, bighouse_01.jpg and biggerhouse_01.jpg but that would mean having to create the same image three times which would be time consuming and a waste of space. Is there a way of "attaching" the image to each product without duplicating and renaming it ?

No. Additional images aren't actually attached to products at all. Their are identified when the product_info page is built based on their similarity to the product's main image. So unless you follow the naming convention, they simply won't be recognized.


That said, I once re-wrote the additional images module for a client to display images that he named in a new database table. It wasn't a particularly big change, being very well localized within the Zen Cart code, so you may wish to consider this if you have PHP and basic database skills.

I'm about as new as you can get, so I may off the mark here. But I just loaded about 500 similar products and associated them with about 6 images, using Easy Populate. I think this is what you were asking to do.

You can associate one image file with any number of products, simply by defining it as the main image for each of them.

What you can't do (without custom coding) is associate one additional image file with several different main product images.

Can you associate more then one store with on image file. I have a company that gave me a very large imagine file that I am going to use in 4 different stores. I'm trying two load it in one file and direct each store to that file.

HELP!
