Default Voiding an Order using LinkPoint & Zen Cart

I am using Linkpoint and I needed to void an order. The order was a pre-authorization (PREAUTH) so no funds had actually been collected yet. When I went into the order and attempted to void the transaction (entering the transaction number I received from the LinkPoint website and checking the box to confirm the action), I received an error stating that the transaction could not be found in the database.

I then decided to capture the funds and then attempt to void the transaction. This time I used the new transaction ID generated when I captured the funds. I still received the same error when I attempted to void the transaction. I ended up just using the Linkpoint website to void the transaction since I could not get it to work using Zen Cart.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

    Thanks,

    Chris

When you initially tried the void, did you use the transaction number stored in the order comments area?

I do see that number in the order comments area. I was using a different number that I obtained from the LinkPoint website. The next time I need to cancel a transaction, I will attempt to use this newly found transaction id!

    Thanks!

I have a new order that I need to cancel. Right now the credit card transaction is just authorized and nothing has been captured. When I try to void the authorization, I am receiving the following error: "SGS-010801: Transaction can not be voided because it is not in Captured state."

Do I need to worry about canceling authorizations? If so, how do I void it?

    Thanks,

    Chris

An Authorization will expire on its own, and strictly speaking doesn't need to be voided.

According to their documentation and the error message you received, Linkpoint apparently only allows you to void a "capture" (ie: a "Sale" or an Authorization and subsequent Capture), and only before the batch settles for the day on which the sale/capture was made.

You may have greater control over that using their own website to manage the transaction, beyond what their published documentation states.
